It's been holding perfectly, no pulls, runs, fading, or lifting. Latest interior shot can be found here: www.flickr.com/photos/108472973@N04/13613494285/
Amazing. I tried doing that so some of my interior pieces and I couldn't get it to bend around the corners like that. Tried using a heat gun but it wasn't enough.
Would there be any problems with the passenger airbag with this? I've wanted to do it in my Mazda 3 but I'm worried it will mess with how the airbag deploys.
I'm using Dap Weldwood High Strength & High Temp Spray Adhesive. Any thoughts on that? Planning on faux-sueding up my A/B/C pillars on my subbie... and when time and patience permit, I'll tackle the dash.. but I think I'll use the landau contact adhesive on that.. seems to be more forgiving.
I noticed you were using a steamer, is that just a garden variety steamer, like you would use to release wrinkles from clothes? Also, I was wondering if you were using it to make it more pliable to fit it to the more complex curves of your dash.
Good job. Has the alcantara maintain the softness or did it harden up a little from cleaning it? Im trying to decide if I want to dye my dash or cover it. It is quite a commitment since basically you can never go back to your old dash to dye it or something since you now have a hell of a mess with the glue under it and taking it off would be interesting to say the least. That's why I wonder about the longevity of the "niceness" of it... and also, don't pay attention to the losers and haters who are just full of envy.
why is everyone saying it looks great if we cant see the finished product?... you should have included the finished dash and mounted, unless it looks like crap then why bother
Absolutely fantastic job man
Very nice dude! I'm super jelly.
Now that it's about 2 years later, How has this held up? I am most likely going to be doing something very similar to mine this year

I've read your build thread and especially dug this project over on NASIOC. Have you done your headliner yet?
Is that a steamer youre using? And what exactly does that help with? Adhering it to the dash?
whats the name of the track?? sick beat
If you dont mind me asking how much did that run yuu to do your whole car?
