As for Rafa, I'm honestly not mad that he lost, I feel like there was a bit of pressure put on him to keep his win streak alive, this loss should give him a reset, and hopefully he comes back stronger than ever for clay season, hoping for #22 at Roland Garros this year!

You are right. By winning that point, Nadal would have a great chance of winning that set, and likely to take the final set with the momentum. Maybe taking out Alcaraz exhausted him.
Coming out of injury then straight 20 wins then comes another injury hopefully rafa will comeback again with 21 straight wins including the 14th french open title. Vamos rafa 🔥🔥
Truly amazing run by fritz. Beating two quality players in straights back to back to win maiden master 1000 in ur own state. Amazing run by Nadal to win 20 matches in a row, but all streaks come to an end. Cant wait to see how the season goes for both of these guys!
Nice to see Enrique Iglesias perform so well in Tennis as well :D:D Joking aside, what a complete performance. Yes Rafa looked tired but as usual fought with whatever he had left in his tank. All the credit for such masterful performance. Both forehand but especially backhand was brutal by Taylor Fritz. Congrats for a well deserved Title and that too on home soil. Truly special achievement beating one of the greatest players to have graced the sport.
@@j.b.2263 I am an avid Fed fan but admire Rafa greatly. According to his uncle a few years ago Rafa is just an injured man playing his best game, I can even fathom to imagine what a fully fit Rafa is capable of. However Rafa as a competitor and the never giving up attitude is certainly his hallmark and makes his one of the best athletes and tennis player ever. His injury is concerning and I really hope he is able to defend his FO crown as he is ageing so his chances to win slams in future is only going to get slimmer.

Taylor Fritz has quietly been improving over time. The hard work and dedication is paying off. As long has he maintains his attitude and approach, he will do well. The best players have bad memories, meaning they don't dwell on their losses or wins except for what lessons they can learn from them.
When there is a will, there is a way. Outstanding from both players, who both had their share of outstanding grit to achieve equally admirable results.
First 1000 for Fritz. Congratulation!! 👏 This match showed how good the top 3 are. At their advance ages, the younger ones still are having tough time dealing with them.
I’ve been following him for some time. He has very powerful strikes and I was wondering why he could not win tournaments. Now the time has come. Well deserved and congrats.
Great win and great tournament! Rafa obviously struggling but very high level second set. And don't underestimate how tough to play against a legend, especially an injured one - Wawrinka hated it in his AO final against him. Lastly, get Taylor a L'Oréal deal already - great head of hair, great win!
Wow! I didn’t watch the match as i was expecting an easy win for Rafa. Congratulations Fritz! Good for Rafa though that he don’t have to carry that extra pressure of maintaining the streak going into the clay season.

Rafa fan here, first of all, congrats to Fritz, I first started taking notice of this guy when he pushed Thiem to 5 sets in that one Australian Open tournament (couldn't remember the year), I knew he had potential, hopefully this win can propel him to the next level needed to win a slam. As for Rafa, I'm honestly not mad that he lost, I feel like there was a bit of pressure put on him to keep his win streak alive, this loss should give him a reset, and hopefully he comes back stronger than ever for clay season, hoping for #22 at Roland Garros this year!
How can you support that trash?
@@azazello1784 what trash?
Hopefully that muscle strain heals on time. I wouldn’t mind him missing Monte Carlo. The most he rest, the best.
Match for remember in his life.Fritz congratulation 🎾👏👏👏🇲🇾
🏆Congratulations to Taylor for showing mental strength despite injury. He's a worthy Champion at IW22! 👏👏👏👏
Fritz played Tennis out of this world!!
7:17 I rarely see Nadal miss this shot, what a critical point and all he had to do was make it!!!
I know it's tough, and I'm not criticising him there was a lot of pressure so don't even bother!
Was watching it live and audibly gasped. I was supporting Fritz, but Nadal should have made that.
it seems players trend to make more errors on this court because of the wind/ sand
Funny thing is that happened to rublev in just the previous match, on an important point
You are right. By winning that point, Nadal would have a great chance of winning that set, and likely to take the final set with the momentum. Maybe taking out Alcaraz exhausted him.
I know. I can only remember two others. Each against Roger when he lost to him at the Australian
Coming out of injury then straight 20 wins then comes another injury hopefully rafa will comeback again with 21 straight wins including the 14th french open title.
Vamos rafa 🔥🔥
Hopefully Taylor carries this momentum throughout the remainder of the season. Nice to see an American player winning a big tournament.
So So happy for Taylor ! What a performance during the week
Congrats Champs 🏆
Truly amazing run by fritz. Beating two quality players in straights back to back to win maiden master 1000 in ur own state. Amazing run by Nadal to win 20 matches in a row, but all streaks come to an end. Cant wait to see how the season goes for both of these guys!
What a great player.
What a great warrior.
Many Congratulations👏
The Taylor fritz forehand is special
We might see Fritz in Turin this year. So far this year he was playing good
Nice to see Enrique Iglesias perform so well in Tennis as well :D:D
Joking aside, what a complete performance.
Hes got health issues. Thats why he was looked up by the doctor.
@@j.b.2263 I am an avid Fed fan but admire Rafa greatly. According to his uncle a few years ago Rafa is just an injured man playing his best game, I can even fathom to imagine what a fully fit Rafa is capable of. Certainly untouchable on clay but on hard courts I feel Novak at his peak is perhaps even better than Federer although its so close among them that depending upon their day anyone can win. However Rafa as a competitor and the never giving up attitude is certainly his hallmark and makes his one of the best athletes and tennis player ever.
His injury is concerning and I really hope he is able to defend his FO crown as he is ageing so his chances to win slams in future is only going to get slimmer.
I bet had Rafa won the match you wouldn't have written about he being physically tired.
How conveniently you have ignored the fact that Fritz too had suffered ankle injury in the semis.
@@hidemytracks Mate I congratulate Fritz for his unbelievable performance, no question. I really hope he continues to play this aggressive tennis and beat all top players. Ive watched Rafa a lot and you can tell when he is not 100 percent, this doesn't take anything away from Fritz, its not his fault and Nadal got beaten fair and sqaure so no one is taking anything away. I just hope Rafa stays healthy and we get to see him play FO in good shape.
@@hidemytracks
Come on, did you see his game hampered?
Nadal didnt even try to get to some balls he could have got to in the game.
Well deserved Taylor! What an exciting 2nd set
Such an inspiration to all of us, not easy being a 35 year old with injuries and beating younger player than himself who are more fit and powerful. A LEGEND🙏, he should be rather happy that at even at such age he is given everything and beaten most of top players.
Did you just justify his loss by injuries? Again? Smh! That non.sense will definitely never end.
@@Tikidancer it's just a fact that he's suffering a chest pain and his foot has a Mueller-Weiss injury. And it's just another fact that his performance today was noticeably much worse than yesterday's match against Alcaraz (before the chest pain strikes)

Amazing from Fritz! Stayed strong in the tough moments
I'm very glorious happy for Taylor Fritz, he's very good guy, it's heartbreaking loss for Nadal and he's the first time, he losing the final since Australian Open 2019
Taylor Fritz wins Indian Wells 2022! This. is. something.
First 1000 for Fritz. Congratulation!! 👏 This match showed how good the top 3 are. At their advance ages, the younger ones still are having tough time dealing with them.
I have never even heard of Taylor Fritz before. Good job!
I couldn't be happier with this win. Go Taylor! You played better than he did. You beat him outright. I loved every second of it.
So happy for Taylor Fritz! He finally rose to the occasion!!! Bravoooo…
Most of the young players lose even before the match against Big 2 but Fritz showed no fear. He was relentless!!!
I’ve been following him for some time. He has very powerful strikes and I was wondering why he could not win tournaments. Now the time has come. Well deserved and congrats.
It’s great to see someone else to lift the trophy 🏆.
Congrats on 1 million views!
Great win and great tournament! Rafa obviously struggling but very high level second set. And don't underestimate how tough to play against a legend, especially an injured one - Wawrinka hated it in his AO final against him. Lastly, get Taylor a L'Oréal deal already - great head of hair, great win!
Fritz seems like a good guy. Happy for him.
Wow! I didn’t watch the match as i was expecting an easy win for Rafa.
Congratulations Fritz!
Good for Rafa though that he don’t have to carry that extra pressure of maintaining the streak going into the clay season.
extra pressure after winning an ... atp500 ????
where were you last year ??? ;)
Mountain Guy same here. The match against Alcaraz was epic but I did wonder how it would affect Nadal 24 hours later. And you're right about taking pressure off him. I want to see him slay the clay courts this year because every year now is more precious. I know I'm in the minority when I say this but when Nadal and Federer are both gone from the tour tennis will not be the same for me.
@@ksc743 too bad you didn’t mention Djokovic. I respect all three but Djokovic is my favourite. I want a 100 percent Rafa against Djokovic one more time at this year’s RG. Expecting it to be another epic contest.

As a Rafan, it hurts 'cause it's a final Rafa struggled a lot to reach. But I mustn't forget that it wasn't easy for Taylor either and the American played amazingly throughout the tournament. Well deserved champion!!!
Rafa played this match with a fractured rib. Just imagine his chances against a 100% fit Rafael Nadal.
@@omprakashdas7957 First get your fact straight dude. Nadal doesn’t have a fracture rib, it was only a tiny crack cause of stress and repetitive force.
And second, for your info, Fritz played with an ankle injury, so neither of them was in 100% shape, so that means that both in 100% shape equal result of the match. Fritz would win again.

Credits to Fritz to fight through his injury and playing pretty good quality tennis here. Really deserves it but Rafa really struggles here can't really hit through the court and really not moving well. I really hope he recovers from it for the clay court season.
Taylor finally got over the finish line. He has been knocking on the door for a long time, but just couldn't get there. I think the struggle to get there has seasoned him and kept him humble. Very happy to see him win this in such a dramatic fashion.

I m so happy for Fritz, his game reminded me Andy Roddick.

Roddick is more explosive power, Fish mixes up with a little bit of finesse
I agree with the Fish assessment. His BH is very Marcy-Like…very simple, compact and deadly.

When Rafa started to grunt, then it's not going well for him. I'd noticed couple of times. Fritz played so well through out the tournament, nothing to take away. A well deserved title.
Nadal has always been a grunter. It’s infuriating that it’s gone ignored while the likes of Sharapova, Azarenka and Serena often copped a lot of heat for that. #DoubleStandards
He probably meant grunting in a painlike way. It's a pity Nadal was not in a better state, but rather have injuries in this tournament than in the prior AO.
