Not true. Nadal hasn't been losing to any young player all year, until the error at 5 - 4.tiebreak.
Nadal would eat this guy alive, playing a 5 setter. Speak for the other two freebie point masters, who lose to young lions,. Not for Nadal.
No 5 set match. 3 sets isn't enough time for Nadal, wo relies on figuring out players and then, kicking their butts.
      Nadal excels in 5 setters.
A possible injury to his pectoral muscle from last match, stretching out brilliance, at the net, vs Alcaraz.
Rome or Barcelona, is just another tune up to #22 in Paris. You know Nadal is murderously motivated for sweet revenge on Nole?

Another reminder that if Rafa or novak have to win big titles from now on, they have to avoid lengthy matches prior to the finale match. Rafa's shots lacked penetration and depth today and Fritz with his strong play feasted on it. Djokovic vs Med at USO was like this match only. Djokovic had a tiring run to the finals with so many 4-5 setters and Medvedev's power proved to be too good for him.
Rafa and Fritz both had spent long hours on court prior to this. Both were nursing injuries. But Fritz(11 years younger than Rafa) somehow kept going at Rafa and in the end emerged as the worthy winner. Leonardo DiCaprio had his 1st masters in front of his home crowd, what a story👏🏻
As for Rafa, he can hold his head high for what he has achieved so far this year and then there's his beloved clay season. Only thing that can trouble him is injury. Rest assured, he is feeling it

I have to say maybe the time has change ,back when I started watching tennis 6'1 is a good height ,the average of the top players is around 5'11 . I even remembered
they called Roddick,Tsonga,Djokovic big guys when they first entered, the 6'2 group.

@@vincentpascaud453 No doubt they are all good players, but they are not short by any regards ,at least 6-6’1 which still is a solid height for most sport.
My original point to the other comment is that the “ideal heights “ for tennis has changed over the last 2 decades.
It used to be 180cm~188cm(5’11~6’2) ,that way you have a respectable serve box ,good agility ,speed ,and strength.
Compare to the “Bigger guys“ who go over 6’5 which were supposedly more clumsy and slow , sadly it isn’t the case anymore.
Just take a look at the top eight from 2012 ,it were the big 4(around 6’1-6’2) ,Ferrer who is 5’9 ,Tsonga 6’2,Berdych 6’5 ,and the tallest Del Porto standing 6’6. Now look at the current standings, excludes the big three ,we have Medvedev ,Zverev ,Berrettini all around 6’6,Tsitsipas at 6’4 ,Fritz who just went into top 8 is 6’5 as well, only Rublev is below 6’3. As you can see the tall guys over 6’4 are taking over the majority now ,especially the younger generations.

Rafa fan here, first of all, congrats to Fritz, I first started taking notice of this guy when he pushed Thiem to 5 sets in that one Australian Open tournament (couldn't remember the year), I knew he had potential, hopefully this win can propel him to the next level needed to win a slam. As for Rafa, I'm honestly not mad that he lost, I feel like there was a bit of pressure put on him to keep his win streak alive, this loss should give him a reset, and hopefully he comes back stronger than ever for clay season, hoping for #22 at Roland Garros this year!
