100% agreed. As someone with ADHD, I no longer ever subscribe to a trial asking me for card info, unless I was already planning on keeping the service. This makes me want to try Chessly, even if only to encourage good practices like that.
Hey Gotham, I have to tell you: we all want more of this absurdcomputer chess. it´s such a pleasure to watch, and your commentary is crazy good on these especially. Please do more of this.
The one thing I've learned from engines is TEMPO. They value tempo incredibly highly. There are COMPLETELY natural moves that they don't want you to do, because there are other moves that you can only do NOW, while that natural move you could do at any point in the future. This one thing has completely transformed my thinking, and now I actively look for tempo plays that are context-dependent and that will only work RIGHT NOW. And it's made me find things that I never would have looked for before.
@@DAN-the-dc10 Even Levy is barely comprehending what's happening. I love this video because he's like we normally are watching him break down the likes of Magnus or Gukesh. Even our guide to the world of Chess is having his mind blown by the brilliance on display.

I love how it shows that material is only valuable if you can do something with it. Only a computer could go down so much material against a similar level opponent and be confident it is winning the whole way through. Not only do computers now understand chess better than any single human, but their lack of emotions like doubt is such a powerful factor. Most players, myself included, not only would not have found the right moves to convert that victory, except by pure chance, but would we even dare to be in that position to begin with? To be fair, that part was already pretty clear 30 years ago when Kasparov resigned after not understanding one of Deep Blue's "safety net" move, but it still fascinates me to see what computational chess can achieve.
@GothamChess I would love it to have an updated overview of the various openings of 2024. What was popular, what was successful, openings falling in or out of favor, their character or style. PS: if I was a Bastion main, which opening should I play? (Let's assume that this says something about the type of person I am)
Love this type of content. Top level analysis is so interesting. I’m 1800, the GMs play like me, but better so there’s a limit to the intrigue unless I’m watching someone with particular interesting play. The engines play like Aliens and at the top level it’s so interesting cuz there’s absolutely no overlap with how I’d play. Keep it up
I teach my mom to play chess and she is playing with me everyday! and sometimes watching together your videos, thank you GothamChess for the new experience of this beautiful life!
Levy, I have to give props where props is due: you're the man. I mean, delivering these games as stories every single human on Earth can actually understand and see the beauty beneath every move is just outrageous. Congrats, brotha!
Levy, almost every single video you tell a story or something that just makes my day like you are such an intresting person to litsen to and i want you to know that you should never quit youtube because when you are going to be like 60+ years old you will be even more interesting to litsen to . This is the best commentary on the drones flying over NJ I have seen. Really, not a joke. If these drones are powered by AI, we’re in trouble, because we can see what they are capable of on the chessboard. Entertaining commentary; it is as if you were watching two friends play.
Id love to see a conversation between a Stockfish developer and an LLM developer with Levy moderating it for entertainment value, about what chess bots can tell us about the future of AI.
whats crazy to think is that the eval bar on the right is scored by Stockfish right, so Leela instead for the most part would think its beating Stockfish.
Engine chess is typically started from positions where white has a much bigger advantage than in the normal starting position (otherwise almost all games would be drawn). They instead play the same position with both colors to make it fair. But it is likely that Leela knew that it was worse through the entire game.
Oh btw I am trying your free sample of chessly 2.0 and I really do find it really useful in creating an opening reportiere for me. I may not buy the premium version rn but preety soon since my first otb chess tournament is coming and I do need some training. Btw it was awesome to see you as a chess teacher.
not taking card info is a huge W defo gonna try the trial now
Yeah, had zero interest but if I don't need to remember to cancel this I will try it out out of respect.
Absolutely, so many free trials try to scam you into subscribing by taking card info, this is a great pro-consumer move. Thanks Levy.
Went here to comment this lol Great ideal I will actually check this out now lol
