I just got the Shingrix Vaccine today I'm hoping the reaction will be minimal. After having Shingles I wouldn't want anyone to go through what I did. I'm 65 and a widower I live alone I haven't been dating. My wife died almost 6 yrs ago from breast cancer I miss her I'm a young-looking 65 most say I look 50. I feel great, I go to the gym 3 days a week. We just reopened in my State. I belong to a 55plus basketball team we meet at the gym 3 times a week and we play half-court basketball. So I feel great I have 2 daughters both not 40 yet. They check on me everyday they both come by to see me. They are both my heartbeat. Thanks for reading.
I received my second shot 6 hours ago and I feel terrible. The nurse told me I would never have to have another shot. Wrong this only lasts for 9 years.
I'm 59 yrs old I just got the second shot first 8 hours sore arm after that it morphed into horrid body aches then move and then fever 101.4. I shivered shook...I've never had this reaction..but it lasted about 16 hours my fever with Tylenol came down to100.6...I felt like for 36 hours I had been hit by a bus.My hubby had gotten shingles despite us both having the first vac. He got it in May I sure didn't want it he has suffered so much...should he get the shot ? What can it do?how long after shingles outbreak.. I don't know why the doctor told me oh your arms gonna be a little sore..you should be prepared for a 24 to 36 hrs flu ...if it doesn't happen great but if it does you can plan for it
Shingrix has a very powerful immune reaction and more side effects than Zostavax or a flu shot... Flip side is how effective it is. This is a great point Catherine B, patients should be made aware about the down side! It is a chemical added to the vaccine that ramps up the immunity. The vaccine is two components. The antigen component is a varicella zoster virus glycoprotein, similar to that found on Varicella virus. Your body recognizes that when shingles is emerging and supresses it. The adjuvant component is taken from the bark of a Quillaja saponaria (soap bark) evergreen tree native to warm temperate central Chile. Somehow that increases the immune response to the vaccine. I don't understand why it works. I am not sure the story about how it was discovered and if they now exactly what the body is responding to.
Keep your chemicals, build up your immune system. FYI, the adjuvant you mention, quillaja saponaria (soap bark) is a food-grade herb available online. It is good for colds and is an anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial. Nature has it all. And yes, I had shingles when I was in my twenties after extreme stress. Worst pain of my life but now I'm 62. I take responsibility for my body and keep my immune system strong, stay away from doctors and mitigate stress, yes easier said than done.

I had this vaccine, and after each of the two injections my lower back went into extreme painful spasms.

Your statement regarding the ratio of approvers versus non approvers at the CDC is untrue. It passed by one, not a large majority.
If I had very little reaction except sore arm to first dose, does that mean I will not have fever of flu like symptoms for second dose?
I got the first new shot but my doctor and CVS pharmacies don't have it at all so I can get the second one. Co. didn't expect such a high demand .
