Yes, indeed! But I don't understand why mrs Lori is saying her pronunciation of 'squash' and 'wasp' is wrong...can someone please explain? I'm British, the way she says these words sounds like perfect, well-spoken English to my ear!
@@iggle6448 I'm from southern Ohio, where my "people" often will say "squar-sh" and "war-sh" instead of "squah-sh" and "wah-sh." @@TodayinJensSewingRoom Ah! Thank you so much for taking the time to explain. Like you, I find accents fascinating - they have genealogies all of their own. I've often heard 'Miz' Lori say 'warsh'. So I was surprised that she didn't say 'squarsh' and somewhat apologetically pronounced it in perfect British English! Interestingly, adding an 's' to certain words is also a British English predilection, especially of the upper classes. Thanks to Miz Lori I finally learnt how to make fluffy pancakes! As a non-USA resident who has read of pumpkin pies in novels and seen them in movies, I always wondered how they were baked. We Aussies do pumpkin fruit cakes and scones. Pumpkin is mainly used as a straight savoury vegetable here. Thank you Miss Lori. It took a while for me realise the term squash is often actually pumpkins, squash is an entirely different vege down under.
I am with Mr. Brown on the Butternut squash. My favorite. I talked my sister into growing 6 plants this year. She got 56 squash that totals 400 lbs. She lives in North West Wisconsin. It was an "Oh My" moment for her. She said she is only doing 3 plants next year. I had a stepdaughter that said she did not like squash. So I made a pie filling using the butternut squash and poured it into a buttered 8 x 8 dish, like a crustless pie. That did it. every time she came to stay, she requested the squash.
I found your channel and it's like coming home. Thank you for sharing your life and the old ways. You and Mr. Brown are delightful! Your faith is truly evident. God bless you both.

First pumpkin pies I ever made I cooked whole pumpkins and proceeded from there, when my husbands family commented how good it was and what kind of filling I used, they all laughed at me, I did not know you could by pumpkin in a can, 45 years ago. I do both ways today and I also use brown sugar, love the flavor. Now by the looks of what Mr. Brown was holding you are going to making a few more pies. You put out such nice informative videos Lori, you have a blessed week.
I remember my sister in law calling as I was holding a dinner asked what I was doing I said cooking the pumpkin for pies. She was like well aren’t you just Susie homemaker 😂 she said it was the best pie she ever had. I do still used canned. But that year some one gave me several of their uncarved pumpkins from Halloween and I put them to use. Made pumpkin rolls also.

Hi Miss Lori! The first year I grew pumpkins was a success, sort of. The plants volunteered from old ornamentals left too long on the deck. My patch had nine plants, each vine 2 to 3 fruits. By the time I harvested them, I ended up with 4 pumpkins. The deer ate the rest, leaves and vines too! Peace and Blessings to you!🌻🎃
We recently finished off my first pumpkin pie from a real home roasted pie pumpkin, as well as the roasted & salted seeds. It was a wonderful treat! On to sweet potato pie soon.
🥧No leftovers....hmmm! That is why I ALWAYS make 2 pies! Pumpkin pie with coffee in the morning is YUMMY! I have not been able to bake anything for a while, my little oven does not work, but I have made Mr. Browns pan bread many times! Have a blessed day and thank you for sharing. 🌷
Ms Lori your a wonderful woman who shares so much with us cooking some great delicious foods, canning, books, Bible scriptures, making soaps, how to survive and accomplish things when you have no electricity. The LOVE between you and Mr Brown is so Beautiful and Warm. I myself have learned so much from watching your videos. Thanks. This pumpkin pie made me want one real bad and I have many cans of the pumpkin puree. I will most certainly be making this pie and pumpkin bars with cream cheese icing and pumpkin bread. We all enjoy anything pumpkin my grown boys and my grandkids thank it the best. God bless you and Mr Brown and keep bringing us all the wonderful things you have to share.
Squashes and waspers! That's why I love you so, Mrs. Lori because you're you! I can almost smell that pumpkin pie! I don't remember any of my family making pumpkin pies for the holidays. After I got married my husband's family always made them and now it's one of my favorites!
Some years back at another property I had a good garden going. I found butternut squash easier to grow there in that ground than pumpkin - and more prolific, too. That's when I discovered I could make a smashing good pie from butternut. Around the same time I was given a pumpkin by a co-worker, an avid cook-gardener. It was the best pumpkin I'd ever used. I looked it up & learned it was a Cheese Wheel. Those were the easiest pumpkins to grow I'd ever tried, and had such HUGE walls of flesh (that means loads of food!). Anybody reading this who wants to try butternut or Cheese Wheel, you won't be disappointed!
Oh, Mrs. Lori, you talk just fine. My sweet Daddy says waspers and squarshes and sounds just like you and I love it. He, like you, is the most down to earth and honest person I know. I’ll be honest, I don’t even think I like pumpkin, I just watch all of your videos because they make my heart smile. Keep being you! ❤
Not just your area Ms Lori. Way up here in the Great White North gardens did not do well either. Drought and cool temperatures all summer. Yet here we are in October with gardens still going. Yet our first frost is normally first week of September. We have had 2 nights of a light frost since then. Days are same temp we had seen over summer. Now I am busy trying to figure out when the heck to plant my garlic. Which is usually planted by this time. God bless you and your loved ones and may he shine his light on you always. 🙌🤲🙏💞🇨🇦
Hi Miss Lori, I just wanted to tell you that I agree with you about the waspers for sure!? Your pie really looks delicious!! I just might have to make one for this Sunday’s dessert for dinner. May God richly bless you and Mr. Brown.🙏🏻❤️
Miss Lori I am one of your new channel watchers and you never should apologize for the way you talk. I love it! I am an Okie from Oklahoma and was a hairstylist for 28 years. Later one of my jobs was taking reservations for Southwest Airlines. I can’t tell you the people that would tell me how much they liked my accent. Haha They would want to guess from where I was from, most of them guessed Texas but when they heard I was from Oklahoma, they would say how they knew I was from the South and how Southern people treated others so much kinder. My husband would laugh with me when I would tell him of our conversations. Oh, and then one friendly gentleman kept me on the phone a long time pricing flights that could take his family on a vacation. He had me on speaker phone, I could tell and I could picture the group of them either around the kitchen table or maybe living room. When he finished with his payment he said “before I go I want you to do one more thing for me”, I asked him what and he said, “will you say ya’ll again?” And then we all laughed. He said it lovingly not hateful and I could tell he really had enjoyed our conversation. So I ended my call with a thank-you followed by “ya’ll” which we had a chuckle over. My husband cracked up when I told him. I enjoy peoples accents too. Being a hairdresser from this part of the country, most say “warsh” I broke that early because I had a few people ask me how I spelled that. I guess I got tired of the teasing but more people pronounce it with the r in there around here. Haha. Guess it’s like how you say pecan. Right? Right! Take me as I am or not! 😊❤ love and blessings, and thanks for your patience everyone as I rambled. I still love your voice and the words that come out. ❤
Thanks Ms Lori again. You are such a wealth of information. Because of you I have a container garden and water bath canned for the first time. My salsa verde was so spicy hot that my esophagus burned for three days. I know it’s late but this week I’m making your peach preserves and your pumpkin pie! I’ll be going to hot springs soon and wondered if we will get to see bright autumn leaf colors. I’ve never seen vibrant fall colors except on you tube. Thanks for all you and Pop Brown do for us all. 💕 also enjoy his Bible Studies a lot.
Mrs lori your talk is just fine..I love listening to you...I have request...could you show us how you would jar or can pumpkin to store on shelf...love ya Robyn

I was hoping you would make a video on making pumpkin pies. I want to make some this weekend. what timing. Thanks Miss Lourie.
My husband’s grandfather used to grow what he called “overland sweet potatoes” it was 50 years ago but I think they were a type of butternut squash. They made the best pies. My husband begs for sweet potato pies and can get one any time he wants😜

Yummy can't wait to try your recipe for pumpkin pie! Love love your channel! Always look forward to your videos so interesting and informative! God bless you and Mr Brown ❤❤
Peace and Blessings to you!🌻🎃
LORD BLESS YOU ALL. YALL ARE THE KIND OF PEOPLE
We recently finished off my first pumpkin pie from a real home roasted pie pumpkin, as well as the roasted & salted seeds.
Raised on every squash. Love them all.
Thank you
@@WhippoorwillHoller you are so welcome!!!!
Squashes and waspers! That's why I love you so, Mrs. Lori because you're you! I can almost smell that pumpkin pie! I don't remember any of my family making pumpkin pies for the holidays. After I got married my husband's family always made them and now it's one of my favorites!
Lovely! Be made Blissful everyone!
I make a blend of fresh pumpkin, butternut squash and sweet potatoes, best pie ever.
I really like to see you baking, one of my favorite channels! This one looks great :) keep sharing to each other 😊💪
Ms Lori, You have the greatest ideas! Please do a video on the pumpkin/sweet potato tortillas! Thanks 😊Regina
I bet that will make a good pumpkin pie. You could just hear the goodness in it when Mr. Brown patted it. Happy eating!
Awesome black bean burgers made with sweet potatoes. More pumpkin recipes please.
I always enjoy your videos, and all recipes you share and make !! I love that new stove 😉😉❤❤
🙌🤲🙏💞🇨🇦
I grew up in Huntington Indiana where we warshed clothes. Married a man from Lake County Indiana near Chicago where we washed clothes.😊
Thank yall so much!!
Here at our house we love pumpkin pies. Thank you for this wonderful video. Have a blessed week.
Your a true blessing. Thank you 😊 ❤
