    I like the video. Make sure to stagger the wires when you spice new connections. It helps at avoiding a bulky repair and reduce the chance of shorts or contacts if the repair partially brakes away.

    You can get to the upstream O2 sensor if you take off the header heat shield and take out the battery. You need to bear hug the motor to get 2 hands on the sensor plugin harness. Beats getting under a car sitting on jack stand or ramps.

    Random anecdote: I bought a blue 2007 Honda Fit Sport w/ manual transmission brand new in April 2006. It has over 242,000 miles on it, I still own it, I drive it "spiritedly", and it's still running great! Incredibly, I've never had to change either O2 sensor!
    Since my boys are reaching the age where they will start driving soon, I just recently bought another 2007 Fit Sport (used): black, automatic transmission, and about 55,000 miles. Just a few days ago, the P1033 code popped up... So, new sensor on order.
    Based on my extensive sample set of two cars (LOL!), I guess the moral of the story is (1.) get the car with the manual transmission, and (2.) drive it with plenty of passion!

      My wife drove our base 2007 off the lot new for $13k and it now has 111k mikes on it. I got her a van and I have put the last 8k miles on it. Its a great little buggy. In 10 years I have put 4 bulbs, wipers, rotors and pads, plugs, Beck Arnley coil packs (made by Hitachi (same as factory) and 45 bucks on Amazon) and an O2 sensor. I am going to adjust the valves this summer and hopefully it goes another 100k miles.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  7 лет назад

      Yeah, my wife's has a little over 200,00 miles on it. Plugs and coil packs, alternator, wheel bearings, and an O2 sensor are the extent of the repairs. I consdier brakes a maintenance item, but did the fronts twice (at about 100,000 mile intervals).

      Thanks for the video Matt. Most helpful! The 2 part cannon plug is a real pain to get disconnected... could only get one hand in there, without your video it wouldn’t have been possible for me. Mine is an 08 and has the support bracket mentioned by Dan. I sprayed pb blaster on the two bracket bolts as well as the sensor. Took out the lower bracket bolt and loosened the top bolt, was able to swing it out of the way and get the slotted O2 socket on the sensor and get it removed. Installing the new sensor was much quicker than the removal. I did it all from underneath the vehicle. Appreciate your helpful video. Cheers.

    This video was very helpful. I'm going to be replacing my sensor shortly and wanted to find a good how-to guide. Yours was well executed. Just one question: Can you explain the difference between US Auto parts vs Auto Parts Warehouse? They have the same part but 6 dollars difference? The sensor also doesn't exactly look like the OEM part. I'm assuming that shouldn't be a major problem though since many have had success with that part.

    • @goddom

      +Ryan Coleman I think the Auto Parts Warehouse and US Autoparts are the same. The sensor won't look exactly the same all the time so I won't worry about that. Good luck!

      I am using Google Tranlate, so this may not be very good.
      Try going to a muffler shop that specializes in exhaust. You might be able to get a catalytic converter for cheaper.

    My car when first bought was showing an 02 sensor code when plugged up. I was told I could drive it, but need to change it soon. Now, its showing code P0420 which is catalytic converter. Could that be because the sensor is bad?

    • @goddom
      @goddom  4 года назад +1

      Yes, it could be the O2 sensors because the car uses the sensors to determine the condition of the "cat" (catalytic converter).

    I have a Honda Fit Sport 2007. I had all 4 spark plugs and all 4 coils replaced on 10/26/14 at 89418 miles. On 11/7/14 the engine light came on again and when i hooked up my carmd code reader it tells me i have the same problem Cylinder Misfire Detected. When i first had the problem it was in cylinder 4. Now the misfire is in cylinder 1. I do not know what else could be causing this problem. I had all 4 spark plugs and all 4 coils replaced to fix the problem the first time. Any insight to this problem that you may have would be very helpful.

    Hi Car had 70,000 miles. Had my mechanic guy changed all 4 coils still not helping. took it to Honda dealer they said it needs valve adjustment which cost me $350.00 and still didn't solve the problem:( Talked to the guy work at autozone he thinks it could be 02 sensor I was wondering if that would help also I noticing U said Denso brand better than other or would U suggest some other brand. Thank you again :)

    • @goddom
      @goddom  9 лет назад

      Debbie Jamison Denso, for Japanese cars, tends to be the best since that is their top of the line electrical/sensor company that most Japanese automakers use. I assume you are the one who wrote me about a vibration when idling? With this one symptom its hard to pin down another possibility is a motor mount, but I wouldn't go out and replace them because thats just throwing money at the problem. Unless you can pinpoint a motor mount it would be expensive to replace all of them. Base on what I have seen the O2 sensor goes out at about 100-120k miles so you might as well replace it, its worth a try but if that doesn't solve it you might have to wait until another symptom appears to really zero in on the issue. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  3 года назад

      Hello. Well hopefully it won't come back. I think drive it an see. You might have had some weird issues after running injector cleaner that temperarily threw off the O2 levels making the car think the cat is bad again. So keep driving it. If it does come back, clear the code, and make sure to get the cat nice and hot with a decently long drive and possibly slightly higher engine RPMs to make sure the cat is up to temp and burns off any contaminants that might have gotten into the system after running the injector cleaner.

      @@goddom hi thanks for your reply. Today I drove about 28 km . I notice my fuel consumption down to 6.21/100km before it was 7.4/100km . Still no engine light on . I am so confused because , i am planning to travel 1500 km in next month.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  3 года назад

      Its a good sign that the car is using less fuel, it means its working more efficiently. That is assuming you are getting the same amount of power. Also you should see an improvement after running injector cleaner if your injectors were getting dirty. I think you are fine to drive the car for long distances. If the check engine light comes on and the car seems to be running fine, then you are safe to drive it home. The check engine light usually indicates emission control issues and not engine damage. If you lose power, hear funny sounds, or it starts to shake, then you should stop the car as soon as possible. But some people in the US will drive with check engine lights for years depending on what the issue is.

    • @goddom
      @goddom  9 лет назад +1

      Debbie Jamison Hello, sorry for the late reply. How many miles are on the car? My initial thought is that one or more ignition coils might be getting a little tired. Not bad enough to throw a mis-fire code but not producing a very good spark. Another possibility is that one of the spark plugs wasn't gapped properly when they were installed. Some come pre-gapped and if that is what was installed in the car then I doubt that the spark plug gap is the issue. If it is an ignition coil I would wait a bit longer until it acutally dies before replacing since they can be kind of expensive and it will be hard to figure out which exact one is bad so you would have to replace them all. Easy to do but a mechanic is probably going to charge you $70-100 each, and there are 4 of them + their labor to install. You can buy them online for about $40ea and install them in about 30min yourself. I hope this helps!
