I did exactly this on my 5.20.35 LG c9 , the root on the website seemed to work. After reboot, nothing, no app, no homebrewstore, no nothing, rebooted back to normal

It kinda worked, but 1.: doom never loaded. 2.: Retroarch missing emulators (useless). 3.: Crashes every time turned on, requiring reboot.. and now wifi pw needs to be typed every time (unsure if it has anything to do with root tho!) - I wish I could just controll my tv! Use internal harddrive or wirelessly access tv! Or have any OS! Be able to use magnet links or torrents, to download directly and so much more!

Yes you don't need to root just install dev mode and be happy. But a new exploit even if running on latest version is available but you need to do as normal homebrew and root through a telnet connection with a pc.

It does work, it's just that your TV is at a firmware that had the exploit blocked. You need to use developer mode to get the homebrew channel on your tv

You can install homebrew, RUclips ad-free, retroarch and some other apps, Without having to root you tv, Can't risk that warranty void. There's an alternative method, Though not this easy. I am using it.
I've tried it, has less cores that other versions, but that's understandable due to being run off a tv. Still amazing that we can do so, now on to the bad part. I guess since I had to use the second method of getting the homebrew channel on my TV I cannot file transfer due to not having root access.

@@frizbee3089 sorry I missed this. You need to go to settings, and use the online downloader to get the cores and everything else including being able to switch the UI. Take note it is bare bones version of retroarch and does not have every core in it. Also you will have to go through one time and setup your controller if it didn't for you.

I wouldn't recommend doing this. It voids the warranty. Just buy a firestick, and jailbreak that.
Factory resetting the tv removes all traces of it, they have no way of knowing.

hmm. have you tried running the installer again? you could also try a factory reset of your tv to put it back to factory settings
