Yes and he’s (Kayembe) would still be considered a baby in the wild. The mom’s start weaning at about 3.5 years, then at 4 year’s old they’re still learning the safe plants to consume and learning the poisonous plants not to consume as well. That’s why they stay with their families (both boy’s and girl’s) until their teenage year’s. The girl’s always leave right before sexual maturity to make sure no inbreeding and the Silverback’s may let a young male stay a little longer if there’s more threat’s to the babies of the group, but they still have to leave as well. If a troop is having troubles with predation (ie: from Jaguar) the Silverback may allow another non-related Silverback to help with security. That show’s intelligence over instinct, the Silverback wants to be the only one breeding, however he knows if he can’t keep his offspring alive then it doesn’t matter. Just one of the many signs of how intelligent these amazing creatures of God truly are in so many way’s. Truly remarkable.

This troop reminds me of another gorilla family here on RUclips. Genki, the mother, had two sons.....one a tiny infant....and the other about Kayembe's age. The older brother would taunt the mother and infant....in a playful way. However, one time the older brother grabbed the baby and dragged him by his arm across the yard. Thand God, the infant was not hurt. But I guess this is common when there is a new baby which gets all the attention. I also felt sorry for the older sibling because he just wanted someone to play with. As the baby got older.... the two brothers were inseparable and loved wrestling with each other....so cute.

I keep seeing the scene from planet of the apes when Charlton sees his shipmates stuffed in a museum. I know they say this is for the species survival. However, I really dislike the patronisation of the animals. They introduce Jameela then take her out. How do they do that? This area seems so restrictive. They must be bored to death.
I am not patronizing. These animals are intelligent but are not humans. They cannot defend their habitats against humans- they cannot defeat humans. If you drop in for one video on gorillas on this channel and do not read the description - that leads to misunderstanding. I’ll stop here.
You sure do put a lot of work into the videos you post. Thank you for that.

@@larrysanimalsafari that Kayembe Yameela hit, he is tremendous
Kayembe is like the class clown but he plays a little too rough for a baby
👍😁
He still trying to get that baby
😁
I keep seeing the scene from planet of the apes when Charlton sees his shipmates stuffed in a museum. I know they say this is for the species survival. However, I really dislike the patronisation of the animals. They introduce Jameela then take her out. How do they do that? This area seems so restrictive. They must be bored to death.
I am not patronizing. These animals are intelligent but are not humans. They cannot defend their habitats against humans- they cannot defeat humans. If you drop in for one video on gorillas on this channel and do not read the description - that leads to misunderstanding. I’ll stop here.
If you feed Freddie well she will keep lactating.
Thanks for info
