    Geforce 2 MX was best buy in summer 2000. Was about same fast as 7 month old Geforce 256 SDR, but ate up 4x less power (4W vs 16W). It was also good overclocker, after overclocking memory, it was same fast as stock Geforce 256 DDR, which costed 300$ only 6 months ago. GF2 MX costed around 150$, if I remember correctly. That was incredible, to get Geforce 256 DDR performance (after overclocking) only after 6 months for such cheap. And play Citizen Kabuto, Sacrifice, Dark Reign 2, Quake 3 32-bit, etc in full detail 1024x768... in rest of year 2000. Good times. Dramatic era. Never again in history we saw 40-80% gains over every previous generation, in 6-9 months cycles. Remember, how in reviews of the era was, that Geforce 256 SDR and DDR buyers had to be pissed to spend 300$, just to be caught by 150$ card 6 month later.

    Some of those fans are starting to show their age!
    Great collection. Thanks for the benchmarks! My one and only GeForce2 Ultra is really a hard-modded Quadro but it's a fantastic card.

      Lot of fans are complete dead. But only 5 cards not working. Not so bad.
      Quadro has almost same results like original Ultra.

      Curious... what is the point coverting the ULTRA to a QUADRO?

      PixelPipes I'm selling a couple of working GF2 Ultras if you still need one. Both are Tornado GF2 Ultras.

      @@TheVanillatech Hey dude. If by any miracle you are still selling, how much a piece?

      @@RetroAmateur1989 Sold one to a chap 6 months ago, that was the last one! Sorry! He bought it in a bunch, he wanted quite a few cards from me. I think I noted £50 for the GF2 Ultra. I have a hell of a lot of other retro cards remaining though, if there is something else you need give me a shout.

    Another smashing video man! You have got some awesome hardware indeed. Keep up good work. I used to have P3 1.4 Tualatin with GeForce FX 5950 Ultra and then Radeon HD3850 AGP. It was an incredible beast. I am thinking of building one again.

    Nice Geforce 2 collection. I wish i still have my Herkules Gf2 Ultra. Gave it to a buddy of mine back in the day and didn't want it back as he bought a new graphicscard. I was an idiot! Now they are pretty expensive. :-(

  • @tunkunrunk

    Its very hard to find a motherboard supporting tualatins Cpu , on top of that with an AGP slot . The only ones available cost around $300 and above on ebay

    Great collection if i was you i would have added a drop of oil in each fan's hub, i use sawing machine oil since its non conductive, or transformer oil which is inconvinient because it comes in 5l packs
    PS awesome video dude, also awesome collection of retro hardware, one day i might send you some hardware since i run a PC repair in Serbia, and lots of people bring me old pcs (P3s or P4 or Semprons) for recycling but they are working with no problems

    You can revive some of those fans if you peel the sticker off and fill it with sewing machine oil in the center.

    Not enough game tests…I understand it’s not easy, but folks should have an idea of what this graphics card is capable for running on a decent CPU.
    Would have been nice to see the next games tested:
    The Elder Scroll III: Morrowind, Quake III: Arena and perhaps Doom 3 with Half-Life 2 to give an idea? Seems to be suitable games for a such test.

      Aren't GF4 MX cards NV17 based (ie. they are "tweaked" GF2s) ?
      GeForce 4 MX460 is good card to check out.

    • @RETROHardware
      @RETROHardware  6 лет назад

      Yes we could named NV17 modernized NV11 with 150nm process.
      I'am not sure if I own last G4 MX-8X with 128MB.

    Could you test in 2000's games with those GPUs?

  • @3DfxAslinger
    @3DfxAslinger 6 лет назад +1

    Hmm...GPU-Z says, 150 nm for the NV15, that's not right, he was produced in 180 nm. :) Top video, like the others!

    • @RETROHardware
      @RETROHardware  6 лет назад +1

      You right, nothing is for 100%. NVIDIA says that GF2 Ultra has core marking NV16 (same as NV15 only with higher clocks) but all cards still showing NV15 ...

    It hasn't additional fan, and 32 MB.
