This feud was the epitome of suspending ones disbelief. I remember as a kid thinking Matt actually snuck into the stadium the Raw he attacked Edge. Cutting his mic when he brought up RoH and telling WWE to kiss his arse. It was absolutely insane, but in a super cool/entertaining way.

I believe when all the security dog pile on top of Matt, I believe it's 100% real
I was at that show with decent floor seats. Matt came in not too far from my right. Incredible moment as a lifelong hardy boys fan. Also I was 14 at the time so I knew wrestling was scripted but I thought that was the real deal

Taking that sh't all together and make it as a part of his work just proves of how good and professional Matt is. He got hurt from what happened and yet he went out there and did his job as he was told to. He took that betrayal as a true warrior. Vince didn't deserved a guy like him.

Edge was already being pushed around this time as a singles star I believe so the affair just brought in more heat for him. The missed opportunity is that they didn't bother to do anything with Matt, who was way over as a face. They just gave him mid card gimmicks and had him job to guys they wanted to push.
And the back end of that is that this whole thing made Lita public enemy number one from 2005 all the way to the end of 2006 being disrespected and hated on by fans

From that day on i have always respected Matt Hardy as a true great profesional cause despite of what happened he still worked a safe match with Edge
This was the time they shoulda push Matt into a wwe champion

They said he bombed his first big promo when they brought him back which nixed any main event push after the feud

Kudos to Matt for being professional, the guy is a dad now with a family so I’m sure it must be annoying at times to revisit such an awkward period in his life.
Yeah, its interesting how smart folks can get fooled. She was partying with rock bands, footballers, you name it, prior to wrestling. Indeed, in her bio and you can read between the lines, Hardy wasn't the first guy she'd she stiffed.

In 2005, both Raw and Smackdown had crazy storylines that summer: Edge/Hardy/Lita saga on Raw and Guerrero/Mysterio on Smackdown
Matt Hardy turning heel was underated and so was his match with his brother at WrestleMania
Its crazy to think in the end Matt has a family Edge has a family now aswell and Lita is single with no kids
If you knew how many people regret their families you wouldn’t say this as a flex

Hope he's settled down with his third wife Beth Phoenix and doesn't make the same mistake again by cheating on her with Lita again or with another married woman out there. I heard Edge has a bad reputation in the past with his past girlfriend's for cheating on them or getting involved with someone else's girlfriend's like he did to Matt Hardy with Lita.

Being married with kids doesn’t automatically equate to happiness. Not every woman wants to be a wife or mother. Lita’s been in a relationship for years that she seems to keep very private.

Hands down my favorite "storyline" ever. It was one of the few times where I totally got lost in the angle and couldn't tell if it was legit beef or not. Lita got the worst end of the deal, the fans were absolutely brutal towards her. She played it off well though.

I had that same feeling, my parents never let me get the PPVs so I’d go to my best friends house. But this time I was like dad, these dudes are in some stuff and someone might get seriously hurt. It was so long ago and everyone involved has moved on with relationships marriage and children. Matt seems healed and distant from it all. Happy for him.

I know right. Matt is like a fuacet of leaks. There is a video on youtube title Paul London shoots about the smiling incident. He starts to talk a bit about how before the taping of the incident. he was dealing with a situation in which some wrestler (Matt Hardy who was trying to get back with Paul London GF )had leaked that Paul's GF at the time Ashley Massaro was appearing on the Survivor TV show. But that he had made it look like Paul London had leaked it himself by telling it to some fan at an airport.
Well it's hard to be the better person when your gf cheats on you with a friend, just the fact he didn't use the match to get back at Edge not even a little speaks a lot of Matt
I remember seeing Edge before his debut , he would appear in the crowds and walk through the halls of the arena for months prior to his first match(as Edge). Late-90'sWorcester, ma Centrum, he towered over the crowd and even though he had on a black tranch coat and sunglasses, he stuck out like a sore thumb, but yeah Edge...

Lots of people underrate how tall edge is up close
Edge is legit 6’5 so it’s no surprise he towers over most people. In fact, a lot of wrestlers are taller in person. CM Punk and Christian are also taller than they look on TV.

I hated that feud only bc they made Matt llose to Edge over & over & over & over. I don't think Matt ever picked up a single victory in that feud. Could definitely be wrong this many years later, but I don't remember a significant win he got over Edge during that time.
Unforgiven 2005
It made sense though. Matt's just not a star and never will be close to the level of his brother or Edge. Look at them now - Edge's return to wrestling has been truly phenomenal - putting on some of the best matches in WWE and producing great feuds while Matt Hardy is a joke character whom everyone is bored of - A manager of jobbers who tries to act like his role matters anytime he's on TV. He had something w/ the Broken gimmick but failed to adapt it to the AEW crowd/modern landscape. With the news that over 100K viewers turn the channel when Matt comes on Dynamite, I truly think Khan would be thinking about releasing him if not for the hope that Jeff's coming there to do a Hardy Boyz run... (Khan's a major mark for Jeff but doesn't speak so glowingly of Matt)

Met Lita in real life at a WrestleMania signing a year ago and she was really unpleasant - sullen, moody, didn't even say hi & ignored me when I said that she was super inspiring as a wrestler. I had paid $100 to meet her and it was sheer money down the drain. Seems like karma caught up to her if she never changed as a person, whereas the other two men seemed to grow & learn from the situation
Honest question, why is that satisfying for you? Why are you ok with Edge getting the “happy ending” but not Lita? HE was the one that was married when they had the affair. I’ve seen this same comment for so many people and I never understood the thought process.

It’s crazy how Matt and Lita got punished. It’s the same way Mickie and Kenny Dykstra got punished for Mickie’s affair with John Cena but John didn’t get reprimanded…
As much as we want to hear the gossip, it is nice for Matt to be reserved about it even though he was the innocent one, out of respect for his wife.
It’s nice and ironic that both Matt and Adam were able to move passed that both professionally and personally as they now have separate families with different women who aren’t Lita. That’s the real irony. Neither one of em ended up marrying her. Loved Lita’s stuff though back when I was watching.

I hate the fact WWE brought something personal into a story. Lita with Team Xtreme being a huge part of my life, to be honest I stopped watching WWE in 2002 - I think Jeff was single status on Raw and Matt on Smackdown.. I fell out of love with wrestling. I loved Lita and Jeff, tried to watch it again when Lita returned from neck injury but the storylines and creative was awful. I always say, best time to watch WWE was 2000 to start of 2002 was amazing.
Also do you guys think that Matt still thinks about Amy cause I mean she was his first love.
Honestly, yes. I’m sure as she was his first love that he will always have some love for her. I think that’s a part of the reason why Reby is so hostile towards her too. I don’t think Matt and Amy would ever get back together. They are very different people and it’s something Amy spoke about in her book ever before the split up. Matt’s mind is constantly thinking about wrestling and she hers wasn’t.

Ironically it was never a story to begin with until Vince decided to take advantage of the situation and turn into something it wasn't. Matt, Lita, and Edge were all taken advantage of by Vince so he could make some money off the situation.
