The Eurovision Song Contest of 1978 was held in Paris, France. 20 countries participated in this year's contest and in this video I share my thoughts on every single one, ranking them from the one I enjoyed the least to the one I enjoyed the most.

I've learned to appreciate Mil Etter Mil.
Thank you. It's always a great pleasure to read your well-founded comments and I am particularly happy, that you put "Sevince" and "Feuer" that high :-)
This year has 3 of my all-time favorites so I'm excited to see how you rank them.
If Belgium is one of them then you'll be very glad at the end of the video 😁
Together with the early 00's, 1978 is one of the more forgettable ESC years, but there's still a handful of quite good entries 🎉
Ranking this years is a job where the competition for the last place is hard.
The candidates for the win are few if any.

Only just realised now, of all the years to be the first one with at least 20 entries, 1978 really was the worst year to achieve that 😂

I was watching some of the1970s watchalongs recently, and I saw your name "BASTBATS" among the voters. Have you watched/voted in any since then?
Yeah, nobody is surprised with that #1. 😄And #2 is a banger. Overall, it's not a very memorable year for me.
Re: Bjorn Skiffs - the general theory of what happened is he intended to defy the recently reinstated language rule and sing it in English then he chickened out at the last minute but forgot the original Swedish lyrics so that why his performance is a bit lacklustre.
Colm Wilkinson - I think the difference is I'm approaching it retrospectively as ooo the OG Jean Valjean sung and wrote an ESC song and it's pretty good. I guess I'm more a musicals fan who appreciates theatrics more than you but then again I'm the fool who doesn't get Te Tu Reconais and absolutely loves Abanbi despite Cohen joining several Israelis in succumbing to Zionist poisoning and being really unpleasant about Icelandic people this year, so wtf do I know?
Memorable year for me simply because it was the first one I ever watched on TV, aged 7. But obviously weak compared to the years either side.
I'm normally a fan of Portugal on ESC, but Da li dou is just a subpar entry, even for the decade. This will be a year where I will struggle to make a top 5, because I don't love the winner, but I will try:

my top 5 is almost the same, but without Ireland
I get why you like Jean Vallée's entry but he's far too Vegas for my taste. The only performance that touched me emotionally was Ireen Sheer. She is sexy, free-spirited and wants to connect.
This is probably the worst 1978 ranking I’ve ever seen
