Your summer series convinced me to bushwack 2d sonar back 7 lakes into the brush here in southern ontario on a canoe camping trip. Without it and all the tips you shared I wouldn't have caught so many wild lake trout! Thanks!
Hey Josh been vacationing in hosp for over a month little to do but watch Bendit just about every vidio you ever made questions that came up you use the same hook even often same jig for a long time are you refreshing of tape
Just found your channel. Would love to try some of your tactics on lake raystown in central PA. It's a flood control lake and has miles of standing trees that the tops are 30 ft and deeper down from the surface in water from about 60 ft to as deep as 180. Lots of sheer rock faces that go straight to the bottom anywhere from 30 ft to over 100. There are flats but anywhere the tops of brush or trees wouldn't be 30 feet from the surface they let it stand so there is loads of stuff to get hung on. Any tips or ideas how to fish a lake like this?
That sounds really hard to fish. I looked at the map and that could be anywhere. I would try during the summer and look for bait fish first below the thermocline is what I would do
Thanks for your great videos! I’m a new subscriber, I live in Utah and I fish Flaming Gorge. We catch lots of big lakers trolling 25-40lbs. I’m going to get more into Jigging and you have some great ideas and baits that seem to work well. I’ve mostly used white tube jigs and have had some success but I think I will give some of your wing tubes a try. Wear your sunscreen! Thanks, Bob
Nice, I have been watching a bunch of your videos and I cant wait to get out and try for some lakers. (NW Quebec) I have a fish finder and Navionics on my tablet so Im not totally blind. I appreciate the vids.
I do exactly like Josh does but with a single hook. Always do a limit. Many fishes lost. It will be better with treble hooks. I use Josh's jig heads and silicone. Should try a spoon next time. 85' is the best depth i would say. It will work even without spot-lock on a quite day. My 2D fish finder does not help at all, it is basically not required if you find right spot via Navionics.Fishing lake trout and ouananiche in US is so much more convenient in all aspects vs QC.
@@BendItFishing Take your baited hook and hook it to the back of the big boat. Make sure it will come off with a good tug!! Let that boat go way out give a little tug and real in all the big fish! Fishing off the dock in the summer time! 🤣
I can’t remember the last time I saw a cottage in a lake I fished. You would love Northern Ontario. Guys like me (who know 💩 about 🎣) do very well. No fish pressure! Last summer I didn’t eat a single fish - too big. Not going to waste meat or pack in my barrel overnight for bears to break into. Different world than yours by I would never consider myself a fisherman like you.
How do you decide where to jig? I only fish in far northern Ontario lakes and I usually troll deep with rigs I can handle in a 🛶. I’d like to try jigging. Any suggestions?
So when blind jigging, when I snap it up it's basically setting the hook. If it's on the chase it's a feel thing the rod gets slightly heavier so then I set the hook
Just came across your videos and love them! I'm mainly a bass guy but you got me wanting to try targeting lakers now. I'm in the Fingerlakes/Lake Ontario area of NY. Do you think using a big bucktail jig would work for this method too?
@@BendItFishing just want to say thanks! Went out fishing today with my wife. We were targeting smallies but it was slow, so I said what the heck, let's try for lakers. Used the technique you showed here and used a bucktail with swim bait trailer. We both caught our first lake trout! Basically knew nothing about lake trout fishing besides what I have seen in your videos. Can't wait to go back and actually target them with some better lures.
Hey brother great video! I’m going fishing for lake trout in Keuka lake. I don’t have a depth finder. Is that app you mentioned good and reliable for reading depth? Going to try jigging with rubber white skirt on.!! And do you always run the steel liters with these fish?
@@BendItFishing awesome thank you man! Gonna go buy some today!! And download that app to check it out. In August how deep do you think lake trout are like 110-130 feet?
@@BendItFishing, I'll be fishi g from a "paddle" Kayak without spotlock. You had mentioned going heavier if you don't have spotlock. How heavy would you go in about 100' of water? Thanks
This was a brand new spot I found on navionics. I was using my electronics and saw one fish, but I would have started jigging there if I had no electronics anyways.
Back again second question why do you strip line while fitting a fish next question rare to hear your drag untill you lighten durring a fit then soon you tighten how critical to manage drag
So the drag is just to protect the weakest connection in the rod system. Usually one of the knots. Using 15# test and a FG knot, which won't break the weakest is the polomar tied to the hook which is also like 97% strength. Most people can't even put that much pressure even 12 # on a fish which is why my drag doesn't move
I live on your nemisis lake useing your methods and lures my hookups are 200 percent up with lakers and smal mouth how about a day focusing on rainbows and browns ill watch thats one
200%!!! Sweet deal!! I catch rainbows quite often, I just edit them out of the videos but they are just super dirty compared to Lakers. We don't have Browns in our Laker lakes so I never target them
Try smoking or babacue well you get it or fillet then with lemon or lime juice and coarse salt soak over night pad dry then fry or my fav is to bake bread if you must with
You are among the best communicators of any of the fishing video channels.
Thank you!!
Keep up the great videos. I would say you have some of the best lake trout tutorials on youtube.
Thank you!!!!🔥🔥🔥

Heck ya!! I need to do that in a few places here but they are a long drive!
Absolutely love your laker videos, nothing else out there like your vids, very impressive
Thank you! That means alot!
Great videos, I used your videos to catch my first ever lake trout in Sebago last week. Thanks for the excellent content and tips!
Congratulations!! You are very welcome!
Been waiting for this! Trying it on winni this weekend!
good luck!
Colt Sniper jigging spoons are a staple of mine. Upgrading the hook with a bladed treble helps when winding up, getting them to chase.
I love those blade trebles too!
Found you today and im excited you are local, im on winnisquam. Cant wait to try some of these techniques this weekend!
I may need a fishing coach!! 🎣
Id be happy to guide you! Winnisquam can be tricky for Lakers but I've had good days there.
I would like to do that! Probably next season since we don't have much time left this year

I'm excited for this one,and do you think I would catch lake trout jigging right off the Mount Washington dock?👍🎣
Maybe during ice season haha

Watch video 1 of the summer playlist, it talks about the best spots to fish
Going fishing tomorrow. What depth should I target from flat to top of hump? Any advice?
Max depth 130 all the way to the top of the hump
Do you set the hook as it loads after it loads or by sight on live scope
So when blind jigging, when I snap it up it's basically setting the hook. If it's on the chase it's a feel thing the rod gets slightly heavier so then I set the hook

Yes of course! Put a swim bait on it first to help the action

@z33tec that's fantastic!! Get ready to get addicted to lake trout!!

Thank you!! Send pics!
Just wondering if you've ever had any trouble getting tangled in the buoy at all? I personally invested in livescope before spot lock.
I've only used them a few times so no. And it's just to mark a general area so you can be pretty far from it. You can probably see it on livescope

@JonM47 it really depends on where the bait is, what's it have for forage
@@BendItFishing alewives and smelt it says they eat in Keuka lake. Some say use a white jig and rubber skirt there. Would that make sense ?
@JonM47 ya white tube jig. Go to my medium bait section and that's what will work
Nice! What's the weight of your spoon?
probably .75 ounces
@@BendItFishing, I'll be fishi g from a "paddle" Kayak without spotlock. You had mentioned going heavier if you don't have spotlock. How heavy would you go in about 100' of water?

@eddiefalch127 I go as heavy as your Lakers will eat! Also heavier if it's windy out. I usually fish 1 ounce baits but if you can find 2 try that
Do you concider current or wind when looking for fish to target
Not current, but wind yes, usually because I have a smaller boat and the approach to a spot.
It looks like you’re fishing sometime around midday. What time of day do you find to be most productive?
This lake doesn't matter that much. I like to fish overcast days, time doesn't matter
How did you know to start blind jigging at that edge? Did you find the fish on sonar first or just go to a known productive spot?
This was a brand new spot I found on navionics. I was using my electronics and saw one fish, but I would have started jigging there if I had no electronics anyways.

Rarely

Well im not done i had a month pluss next questiin i have seen you cut leader only occasonaly yet the hook is some times deeper into the teeth
I usually edit the reties out
Did you say you fished Superior and they are bottom oriented?
Did you mean Lake Superior?
I have fished lake Superior and the Lakers preferred tubes on the bottom
