Everything starts with "this could be a really bad idea" And then it's awesome.
That bass overdub sounded insane. I love it
It's insane but real how much concentration you actually need to record a shaker. Amazing video!!
you're not lying, it does take concentration, because if you mess up, you gotta do it all over again, or cut and paste the parts you want to keep. just like recording a vocals, it could be some extreme or subtle variations.
well, it is an instrument, so.....
Especially when you don't have any technique and your arm is full of tension.
@@ZenMountainyeah it’s not just extremely easy to do, but that dude was not grooving at all lmao
"You don't need a click..."
Spot on Scheps!!!!
Mark Hutchison I think he said you don't need a pick. Because the bass player held his hand up like he was missing something.
ao el Pretty sure he says "click". The bassist points to his ears because he wants headphones for a click track.
He said click.
The drummer is really the only one that should play to a click track. If he's on time the rest of the band should be as well.
You'd think so, but it's quite easy to get lost in a groove as a guitarist if the drums aren't playing a steady 4/4 or something. .
This sounds so much better than final released version
Exactly! Where did all the cojones go?
it all probably been lost in the mastering and when converted o mp3. but what a master piece !
ruclips.net/video/EdHm-MoOH3Q/видео.html "love & hate" can't find :(
@@Capons_Place This is mp3 you are listening here on youtube though, could be that the final released version is another mix entirely too
@@TheAsdsdswww The one on the album is a completely different recording/arrangement of the song - it's a shame this version was never released.
Brilliant!!! Andrew is such a blessing to us all!
One of the two singers just died... sad sad news. I actually like both versions though this one was dope. I saw them on stage last year, awesome band.
Note the same band
@@reallybiglemon yes it is, French band called Her.
I WANT/NEED this version to be released!
A U87 on a shaker. I love this video. Andrew is a genius
That was freakin' sick...
And i'm here infront of a computer with headpones thinking i know how to make music
you can. nerd brother- of what's her name did it...
Sounds like "Angel" by Massive Attack
seriously... i had to scroll down because i couldn't figure out why it never mentioned this was a cover in the description lol..

Same bass sound and the song has the same vibe

Was going to say the same thing.
LOVED this! 😊😊

scheps you rule sir
Song is called "Love & Hate" by the band Her, by the time I'm writing this comment it hasn't come out yet, but the title is on the mixwiththemasters page.

Now I want to binge-listen to Massive Attack.
Track is dope
"EEEH you dont need the cliiiiick" lol love it
Awesome
Simply wow
Nice Massive Attack
Follow you alot. Great idea's Andrew.
How can I find this song??
Master! Loved the bass overdub & drums re-amp bus
When you’re sitting on the top of a thousand dollars worth of gear and the master of the session says “EH you don’t need the click”, just stick with him.
That was dope!
"That might be a terrible idea..."
LIIIEEEES!!!!
Great video!
That bass is heavy!
This is great!
wooooo goosebumps
When you see it, you know it is the wright way...
like for the end phrase
How do you handle the feedback loop from the amp and the close mics being together???
fascinating.
damn, didn´t expect that.
Where can one hear this version, this recording? I've looked around and can't find it please !!!
No click?! When can we start, mahn. Is that Monnow Valleys room?! Window frame looks really familiar.
Fab sounds.
What version of the micro synth is this? Original one of bass version?
Whoah ♥️
Is this version released?
Fuck yea.
Everyone in there other than Andrew is baked out of their minds 😂
Don't forget Leg Day!
This shit go hard where can I listen to the final product.
Intense shaker face
So where can I find this mix? The version on Spotify sucked. Not even the same song.

The only version I found was this: ruclips.net/video/FFwzfeWzYS0/видео.html
Totally different song, what gives?

@@Fonkemman. guys i can't find it, Blossom Roses sound different and suck face this track.

Is that Squier Jazz Bass? hm it looks great...
BeyerDymamics 770 pro for tracking 👍🏼
Was this song ever released....?
What’s up with the vocal
S q u i e r
That third shaker sure looks a lot like a tambourine
Pre or post beat detective?!
Start with a good song.
Is Tchad that hero?
any one know the name of the coaxial's on the meter bridge .
I believe those are the "ancient" Tannoys he always talks about. Can't remember the model number.
3:51 oh, this is some dumb shit I do. Lol 🤣
Anyone know the name of the bassist? that overdub was insane...
Tecnifort cables? O.o
6:50 - "Before I send it off to one of my heroes to be mixed". Any idea of who he is talking about?
Tchad Blake. There's another video with Tchad in his studio where he says "I just got this from Andrew..."
@@evanmannell Thanks! Kind of weird to hear Scheps say that considering he's one of the great Mixers.
Where do I find this song ?
Hi, can someone please explain to me how exactly does he does the routing for the drum mics to go to the amp?
I think he is sending the mic lines to a bus on the board and sending them to a cue out... not sure.
Thanks!
His description is pretty bad, but I assume the close mics go into the board, he brings the mics up to line level with the preamps then sends those through a single send to a reamper into the Roland
@@robertkent4929 yeah yeah, so he connects the reamper to the cue panel in the live room. That obviously goes to the amp and the he just mics the room up.
He is probably creating a subgroup of all the close mics on the board and then patching out to the live room. Right?
@@klausmatrajt8480 yeah.
@@robertkent4929 Thanks man!
You don't need a Neve Console or Distressors they have plug ins that sound way better now!
Ha ese muchacho le pueden sacar 3 cuerdas del bajo que no se notaria.
sabes el nombre de esa canción??
wow, Matisyahu surely has aged a lot...
And the point is...
This egineer has hair filter, covered ears... sometime, may mistake boost high ragne on EQ
Use a bass synth
This video was better than the song
Way Too Massive Attackness
The Bass .... well ... I see a little out of time, tone ... sometimes rsrs need click there rssrsr hhum?
This is not an overdub
plz dont sit on the outboard gears...
