you're not lying, it does take concentration, because if you mess up, you gotta do it all over again, or cut and paste the parts you want to keep. just like recording a vocals, it could be some extreme or subtle variations.
what he does is always super creative and technical but stays true to the sound of the band in the room. sounds fantastic and love the four shaker combo at 2.28. need more shaker!
Really digging that track.Who are the band and whats the tune? The description says Blossoms by Her,but i think thats for the link in the description.Anyone any idea?Cheers
When you’re sitting on the top of a thousand dollars worth of gear and the master of the session says “EH you don’t need the click”, just stick with him.
Song is called "Love & Hate" by the band Her, by the time I'm writing this comment it hasn't come out yet, but the title is on the mixwiththemasters page.
Hi, can someone please explain to me how exactly does he does the routing for the drum mics to go to the amp? I think he is sending the mic lines to a bus on the board and sending them to a cue out... not sure. Thanks!
His description is pretty bad, but I assume the close mics go into the board, he brings the mics up to line level with the preamps then sends those through a single send to a reamper into the Roland
@@robertkent4929 yeah yeah, so he connects the reamper to the cue panel in the live room. That obviously goes to the amp and the he just mics the room up. He is probably creating a subgroup of all the close mics on the board and then patching out to the live room. Right?
Full video available exclusively on mwtm.org/as-love-and-hate
Everything starts with "this could be a really bad idea" And then it's awesome.
That bass overdub sounded insane. I love it
"You don't need a click..."
Spot on Scheps!!!!
Mark Hutchison I think he said you don't need a pick. Because the bass player held his hand up like he was missing something.
ao el Pretty sure he says "click". The bassist points to his ears because he wants headphones for a click track.
He said click.
The drummer is really the only one that should play to a click track. If he's on time the rest of the band should be as well.
You'd think so, but it's quite easy to get lost in a groove as a guitarist if the drums aren't playing a steady 4/4 or something. .
It's insane but real how much concentration you actually need to record a shaker. Amazing video!!
you're not lying, it does take concentration, because if you mess up, you gotta do it all over again, or cut and paste the parts you want to keep. just like recording a vocals, it could be some extreme or subtle variations.
well, it is an instrument, so.....
Especially when you don't have any technique and your arm is full of tension.
@@ZenMountainyeah it’s not just extremely easy to do, but that dude was not grooving at all lmao
That cool routing he did with the drums is an awesome way to get some organic reverb
Well, the routing is cool, but without a room like that all we mortals are left with is impulse responses :)
ChristianIce guai a te
:D

Brilliant!!! Andrew is such a blessing to us all!
This sounds so much better than final released version
Exactly! Where did all the cojones go?
it all probably been lost in the mastering and when converted o mp3. but what a master piece !
ruclips.net/video/EdHm-MoOH3Q/видео.html "love & hate" can't find :(
@@Capons_Place This is mp3 you are listening here on youtube though, could be that the final released version is another mix entirely too
@@TheAsdsdswww The one on the album is a completely different recording/arrangement of the song - it's a shame this version was never released.
Sounds like "Angel" by Massive Attack
seriously... i had to scroll down because i couldn't figure out why it never mentioned this was a cover in the description lol..
IKR!?
Same bass sound and the song has the same vibe
not the drums
Was going to say the same thing.
Where is this version of the song? I only know of the version that is on Spotify and it's MUCH different than this!
That was freakin' sick...
oh that feeling of your hand about to fall off when recording tambourine in 16ths
lowyaw oooh man I was thinking that
So true !🤣
I WANT/NEED this version to be released!
One of the two singers just died... sad sad news. I actually like both versions though this one was dope. I saw them on stage last year, awesome band.
Note the same band
@@reallybiglemon yes it is, French band called Her.

What genious producer he is!
Master! Loved the bass overdub & drums re-amp bus
Great to watch. I´m in a good mood now :)
Now I want to binge-listen to Massive Attack.
Track is dope
No click?! When can we start, mahn. Is that Monnow Valleys room?! Window frame looks really familiar.
Fab sounds.
This shit go hard where can I listen to the final product.
Hey I'm high and this sounded way to great, what is the song? Give me please
It's in the description.
How do you handle the feedback loop from the amp and the close mics being together???
Really digging that track.Who are the band and whats the tune? The description says Blossoms by Her,but i think thats for the link in the description.Anyone any idea?Cheers
Blossom Roses by Her, but I think this is an alternate or an older version of this song.
When you’re sitting on the top of a thousand dollars worth of gear and the master of the session says “EH you don’t need the click”, just stick with him.
Where can one hear this version, this recording? I've looked around and can't find it please !!!
The band is awesome.
6:50 - "Before I send it off to one of my heroes to be mixed". Any idea of who he is talking about?
Tchad Blake. There's another video with Tchad in his studio where he says "I just got this from Andrew..."
@@evanmannell Thanks! Kind of weird to hear Scheps say that considering he's one of the great Mixers.
Simply wow
"That might be a terrible idea..."
LIIIEEEES!!!!
Awesome
What version of the micro synth is this? Original one of bass version?
Is this version released?
Nice Massive Attack
So where can I find this mix? The version on Spotify sucked. Not even the same song.
there is a spotify version? cause i search it, and didnt find it
im asking the same question lol
The only version I found was this: ruclips.net/video/FFwzfeWzYS0/видео.html
Totally different song, what gives?
the song is called love and hate not blossom roses mate
@@Fonkemman. guys i can't find it, Blossom Roses sound different and suck face this track.
That was dope!
sounds like blackstar by bowie
Hi MWTM, Is this the same song? I just heard Blossom Roses by Her and it sounds nothing like this. This track is way better mind :)
martyn cain i agree! Wonder if there's an alternate version of some sort?
This version is the greatest, the other version is the comercial version...
Song is called "Love & Hate" by the band Her, by the time I'm writing this comment it hasn't come out yet, but the title is on the mixwiththemasters page.
When you see it, you know it is the wright way...
Need to make sure this is perfect before I send this off to one of my heroes
*Sends it to himself*
Scheps: Oh this is a probably bad idea 😎
Where tf can I find this track? I've been looking thru their Spotify but that version is different to this one >,
please i have a question ,yeah what is overdubbing procedures to follow
Tannoy Little Gold...yes.
I wonder how much money he has invested in that studio. Gotta be close to $500,000 in equipment alone
easily more than $2,000,000
Well I doubt it's "his" studio. It's operated by other people and available for rental...
It's called "Monnow Valley"
Andrew has between $250,000-300,000 in (2) Neve 8068 consoles that are joined together, tape machines, and outboard gear, alone.
Spot on. If you look at the cover of Oasis' Supersonic single you'll notice the same circular framed wooden door. :)
Was this song ever released....?
fascinating.
That bass is heavy!
Pretty cool
what band and song is this
Her - Blossom Roses, but this is an alternative version of the song that I've never heard before (I guess it's a rework for the forthcoming album)
Is that Squier Jazz Bass? hm it looks great...
super ill murky vibes !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wooooo goosebumps
This is great!
I never found that versión of the song
damn, didn´t expect that.
