28 Day Fire Challenge
Hey all- Happy Valentine's Day! Today I made Chinese stir-fry on a campfire! And let me tell you- it was amazing! Who woulda thought you could do this? Stir-fry is really pretty easy and might just impress your valentine.... add a campfire- well, you'll be a star!
Get outside and get happy! Start a fire today.... no excuses, no matter the weather. When you stare at a fire it will make you happy! Getting outside will make you happy!

Yep that's it.
We upped our game today. took my kicksled and my 80lb lab and went out sledding. Halfway around the trail, we stopped for a break and boiled a pot of water on my DIY cat-stove and made a hot cup of coffee...it was awesome to sit on my kicksled sipping hot coffee out on the trail in the sunshine. Best coffee ever!! This was our first boil outside.

Wow, stir fry on a campfire? Have got to find those mixed veggies you had/or were they? Heard a song today you might like - on the YT audio library by the 126ers called Bed and Breakfast. Am from a small island where is hot and humid lol. Am already freezing just watching you cook a good meal in da snow. Never been in the snow until I stayed in state of Seattle Washington I went back to the island so freezing cold than decided to move to California and weather is cold at night warm in day time no snow here yet that I noticed rains alot during winter season Lol. Meal Looks good .

I was going to say Mr. T, which I guess kinda wasn't completely wrong! Another great campfire meal idea! I was originally going to make campfire stir-fry for my "Show Us Your Steak" Challenge. But when I got out to the lake that I was going to camp at it was dark, very rainy, windy and cold (but above freezing). After setting up a tarp and taking shelter under it it.....I....uh.....well......um........pretty much just said "forget this" and packed up and drove home [red face]. I figured that I wasn't having any fun, and I didn't have anything to prove to anybody, so why not just bail and spend the time at home getting some editing and other stuff done. I probably should have brought a tent and not just a hammock and tarp, but whatever, lesson learned. That said, I still kick myself a bit for not just hunkering down for the night regardless. What makes you miserable but doesn't give you hypothermia makes you stronger, right?
yeah i agree, there's no need to suffer needlessly. i bailed one time because i forgot my firestarting stuff. all of it. i just wanted to sit around a fire and have a meal and relax after a long, busy day. i didn't want to work for it. sitting around camp with no fire did not sound like a good time to me. so i bailed. nothing wrong with that at all! you just move on!

That looks great! I miss getting out like that. North Dakota is a little limited due to extreme cold. I work outside here so by the time I get off work its -35 with windchill I'm usually frozen and just want a hot shower lol. Work sucks lol.

The last time I saw bear prints in the snow (another sub-story of the day I got frostbite in my toes) was within the first minute of what would turn into a 14 mile hike off a mountain. I saw the fresh prints in the snow and though "dang that's a big dog, I wonder what it's doing way out here." The tracks went in the direction I needed to go. Maybe 1/2 mile later I run across a huge steaming pile of scat. I knew at that point that I was trailing a bear, I slowed my pace to let it get further ahead. Another 1/2 mile and the bear tracks head off trail to the left. For at least the next 8 to 10 miles I kept thinking the bear was going to circle back on me or cut back to the trail somewhere ahead of me and wait for me. Thankfully it never did, or this would have been a much different story.
yeah better to see tracks and not the bear head on!
