I've been on this for years and it was a lifesaver. I didn't have trouble falling asleep, I had trouble staying asleep. Until I started on Trazadone I woke up at 3 a.m. Every. Single.Morning. Now I sleep through the night. Any side effects are nothing compared to extreme insomnia.
Man I just got prescribed it a few days ago because I have the same problem. I can fall asleep but I wake up about 3 hours later and then off and on the rest of the night. I really hope it helps me.
@@BonnieHaynes-gg4nk It’s hard to know with whom it’s safe to share medical information. May I suggest that you don’t. Unless they know all of your entire medical history, you will get tons of useless, unwanted information from well meaning people. I found the hardest part of having a disability was learning to trust myself, and stop listening to the abundant advice of others. Sharing details with others is rarely necessary, and seldom helps. I stick with expressing my boundaries, and even then, I keep it to a bare minimum. Only recently have I figured out how to deflect all the well meaning advice, with phrases like, “hey that’s interesting,” or “thanks I’ll try to look into that,” before quickly changing the subject. It’s hardest when I’m feeling vulnerable and really want a chance to explain myself, or just want a chance to download my feelings. But that stuff is for therapy or journaling. Especially when I feel my problems or feelings are being dismissed or misrepresented or that I’m being judged harshly. It’s hard not getting sucked in. I am lucky enuf to be married to a doctor, and I can share a lot with her. But a decade ago she also talked me into having a surgery, that ended up quite badly. Since then I’ve learned I can trust her to listen to my feelings, but not accept advice. I found a great therapist who specialized in disabilities, who was willing to just listen and not judge, and that made all the difference for me. So there is my unsolicited advice. You might want to ignore mine too!
I've been on Trazodone for 7 years now and wish I had been prescribed it earlier. I had such bad insomnia and anxiety before, I had trouble keeping a job and relationships. Now I have a good career and I am so content with my life. I hate the ridicule I receive from people though, when I tell them I take a prescription drug for anxiety. Too many people don't realize that some people need medications, they think doctors push these drugs on us but that is not the case at all.
@@teresahoang6593 I believe they have to be looking for certain drugs to find them in your sample so I doubt they would look for Trazodone. It is also a prescription drug so I don’t see why they wouldn’t hire or would fire you even if they knew you were on it. I’m not well informed on the issue though so I can’t say for sure. A doctor or your employer would be best to ask :)
@@wereallnegan I haven’t tried because the contrast between how happy I am now and my life before is so great I’m honestly a little scared to try and there are no side effects that I have noticed so I don’t know if there would be a point. I do have some anxiety still especially in social situations/out in public so I don’t think it would be good to try at this point. I should probably see a therapist tbh but the idea gives me anxiety as well lol 😬
i've been taking 100mg trazodone for about a year now, and it's crazy to see how much something as simple as sleeping 7-8 hours a night can improve your overall mental health and help manage adhd symptoms
My doctor says that I can take up to 600mg of the drug. I've only taken as high as 150mg. I have to split my pills if I am going to take higher than 100mg.
I’ve been on trazodone for 18 years, and it still knocks me out within 15 minutes of taking it. I love the fact I can sleep through the night. Might also have to do with praying that I fall asleep quick.
I’ve been on trazodone for about that long myself. I often try not to take it every night, out of stubbornness I guess, but I’m so much better off when I do take it regularly! It doesn’t help me fall asleep, but it does keep me asleep for 7-9 hours, which is a great relief for an insomniac. I take 50-100mg once I’m in bad and sleepy. I don’t get any hangover, but have friends that do find that it makes them groggy the next morning.
@@laughitsfunny420 Any kind of quiet meditative time, with calm or deep breathing can make a huge difference. It’s all about self care, which is often discouraged by the outside world, but is vital. We all need to be actively kind to ourselves. And not just selfishly, I believe that by taking care of myself< I am less burden on others, and I can be a role model to kids & others that haven’t been taught to trust & be kind to themselves.
I have insomnia for over 15 years, taking all kind of sleep aids OCT , and Ambien. My new dr. prescribed Trazodone but unfortunately it never works for me ( 50 mg-100mg) , toss and turn all night .... I gave up after 2 weeks. I'll learn more and try later but in the meantime Kirkland Sleep Aid really help for now.
I have been on 100mg of Trazodone for three years. This medication saved my life after suffering the most horrible insomnia for ten years. I had tried everything, meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, even going to the sleep clinic at John’s Hopkins. Finally a new GP put me on to Trazodone which worked the first night I took it. I will be forever grateful to her for matching me up with this wonderful cmedication.
Happy it works for you. It worked for me last year when I first got prescribed it. I only take it when I needed. Then I tried to use it after two months off from work. I had to call in on my first day back to work cuz it didn’t work for me. And two days later, I couldn’t fall asleep again after up for 26 hours. I called in again today. Wish me luck, cuz I’m taking it again tonight. My managers probably thinking I’m very irresponsible for not showing up at work again. My anxiety is coming back kicking my butt after not on Med for 4 yrs, I’m afraid I have to go back to see a psychiatrist soon and back in medication. My health has been kicking my butt so hard the last two years. Im only 40 and I’m in pain and none of doctors knows what’s going on with me yet. I have bills to pay and I can’t afford to lose my job. Im under so much stress 🥲🥲
Been waking up at 3am for years..wide awake and taking 2 hours to go back to sleep. Two years ago my doc prescribed 25mg,. I finally dialed in at 200mg. Sleep like a baby. Most restful satisfying sleep ever. No side effects. Godsend. Changed my life. You need your z's.
Same here, up at 3am for for 5 years. Recently dr. prescribed 50mg-100mg does nothing... sleep got worse.... up all night.... I'll check with dr. to increase dosage to see if it helps. thanks
I have been on Trazodone for 20+ years. I have never had a side effect and never wake up anything but rested and alert. That is the best thing about this drug, besides how well it works.
I have been on it since 1987 for my PTSD from Vietnam, but I'm on 100 mg. At first there were vivid dreams, but that went away a few weeks later. But sometimes I wake up and it's very hard to get back to sleep.
I’ve been taking it for 30+ years. Started at 300 mg, worked my self down to 150 mg. Works great, occasionally I won’t get sleepy, but I have a protein snack and I’m out in 15 minutes. I have fibromyalgia and lost my ability to sleep at all. So grateful for this medication.
Same here. Been taking it for about 35 years. 200 mgs. Also have fibro/chronic pain. I take gabapentin and tramadol for pain. I’d be dead if I didn’t have an understanding doctor. I could not possibly live with the pain, I’d check myself out.

This drug has changed my life. I got off of Xanax and use this to slow down my thoughts. I take 100 mg a day. It also chills me out for the rest of the day. Very grateful for my doctor with this.
I’ve been on Trazodone for two decades. I can’t sleep with out it. I’m not interested in what someone has to say that’s negative. My medicines work for me and that’s all I care about. I’m alive and doing the best I can!!!!! All medication has side effects.
This medication made me loss weight and increased my anxiety. This medication isn’t meant for everyone, but I’m glad that it helped many people with their mental health.
It doesn’t make me sleepy but once I fall asleep I can’t wake up and it’s like walking under water and I’m 15 and really don’t have the time of day to fall asleep constantly like I don’t remember anything when I “wake up”
I started taking trazadone while in the military due to having severe insomnia during deployments and rotations. I fall asleep and stay asleep now. I definitely notice the dizziness the rare times I do wake up in the middle of the night, typically to use the restroom. Also the fogginess when initially waking up. Overall though my experience has been extremely positive and I would highly recommend it as an option to anyone with severe sleep issues.
I had severe insomnia. Trazodone gave me deep sleep back. It’s not without its side effects but they outweigh not sleeping. It works for me and I still only take 50mg
I've been taking Trazone for 15 years. Game changer for me. No side effects at all. It's not addicted have stopped for 3 months no problem. I don't have problems going to sleep just staying a sleep. I also don't feel groggy in the morning. Can get up in the middle night to go bathroom and Comfortably fall back to sleep. Would recommend.
I have taken Trazodone for 15 years. I had insomnia soooo bad after I had a nervous breakdown !!! I really like Trazodone. It has absolutely worked for me. I haven't really noticed any bad side effects.
i only have to take 25mg to sleep and not be groggy in the morning! it’s crazy to see how high people have dosages for. i’m glad this medication works for me and others! i’m so grateful.
Me too, but noticed my heart beating funny, so I slowly weaned myself off it entirely. Now there are no more heart palpitations. I seemed to have evened out and no longer need it, although I might consider a very small dose to help me sleep.
I too take that. I have a HIGH tolerance to all medication. So with this dose it helps with my depression and help with sleeping issues. I have trouble going to sleep and staying asleep. My Dr tried to change it and I thought I would lose my mind with little to no sleep. Thank God for Trazadone
I've used it for years. It works well for me. I do wish sometimes I could be a little less tired in the morning, but the good night sleep is worth it. My dog used it after he was neutered, so he wouldn't chew himself, lol. The vet gave me a few of them. She called them tranquilizers. Same dose I take. Now every year on the 4th of July we both take one.
That is so adorable that you and your pup each take one for July 4th. Good idea!! I Amy ask my doc for a prescription. My boyfriend takes it for insomnia and he really likes it. Hugs for you and your pup.
Trazadone works great to help me stay asleep all night, 7-9 hours. It doesn’t make me sleepy, however. If I take it, but don’t get in bed and close my eyes, I don’t notice it’s effects at all. My insomnia is from chronic pain, which causes me to toss & turn. I try not to use it every night. I’m retired, so I can live off 3-5 hours of sleep, and take naps. It’s nice that it’s not addictive and I can chose when I need it and when I don’t.
Is anyone else here because their dog started taking this and now want to know how people feel on it 😅. It sounds like a ton of people have had good experiences so that makes me feel a lot better!
When I take trazodone, I get extremely weird dreams that can sometimes be disturbing. I just wanted to put that fun little side effect out there so others who get the weird dreams don't think that they are going crazy. In summation - works well, occasional unusual side effects.
i thought it was just me… when i took it 5+ years ago, within the first few days i was noticing really, really weird stuff like idk, can’t remember much ab it now other than i’ve been dealing with insomnia since i was little, and tonight i decided to only take 25mg bc of that^, either way, nice to know it wasn’t just me
Absolutely love my trazodone with many, many years with insomnia sometimes staying up 5 days straight. Taking my Trazodone and within 20 to 30 minutes I'm out and get a wonderful night sleep
I too have fibromyalgia and was unable to sleep 😴 since the late 1980’s. My doctor put me on it because I couldn’t sleep. It was a life saver! Sorry for your fibromyalgia by the way. It’s awful, I know!!
@@redrooster667 I'm sorry that you suffer from this also. One of my best and favorite things to keep mine under control was mild water aerobics. Unfortunately with COVID this hasn't been an option and I "sorely-ha! miss it!
Thank you. I currently take this medication for insomnia. I tried several different bentos They always had negative side effects for me to the point I was out of my head most of the time. Trazodone seems to be a much safer option 😊
Yes I was prescribed 50 mg and it works good for me I get up in the middle of the night always because I have to pee but I have no problem going back to sleep it really has helped me tremendously because I had insomnia really bad so far so good
My doctor prescribed this for me recently for sleeping and because I am experiencing anxiety. Unfortunately this medicine made my blood pressure low. I had a dry mouth as well. So I got off of it. I decided to do exercise and take tea before night. Also prayer which is most important. I am able to sleep. I had been taking either melatonin or ZzzQuil to help sleep for three years. But once anxiety kicked in I decided to try exercise and praise be to the Lord I can sleep. But I am waking up getting anxiety at dawn. Again I pray and fight it until I go to sleep. With the Lords help we will overcome this!
Very interesting you mentioned ZzzQuil G Forero. There is now a new antidepressant called Auvelity which has Dextromethorphan in it which is in ZzzQuil and Robitussin. Check this out! ruclips.net/video/ESvvAMWXuM4/видео.html
I only took 2 nights. The 1st a.m. I awoke extremely groggy,. The 2nd night i awoke extremely groggy. I was dizzy but decided to tqke my daily walk of 3-4 miles. After I was half finished, I found myself getting more dizzy but continued and kept going faster on flat ground. While trying to stop, I stumbled and fell resulting in bumps and bruising. My husband picked me up and took my blood pressure which was low. I laid down for the day and was dizzy for the rest of the day. I was starting out 50 mg. My Dr. recommended to begin taking 1/2 a pill. I'm leery of using it again.
It works beautifully for me. I can sleep uninterrupted for 8 hours. I feel refreshed. I am 65. I took it years ago for anxiety and it helped with the nevousness.
@@bcoz6630 I slept 10 hours a few days ago but my Muse S showed 30 minutes of deep sleep. I did NOT feel well rested and felt tired all day long. So - there's more to the puzzle than just sleeping a long time. DEEP SLEEP IS VERY IMPORTANT. (And apparently, Trazodone can help with that.)
The Army prescribed me Ambien at first...and I was on Ambien for 3 years. When I was injured in the line of duty...and awoke from my 7 month coma...I was once again on Ambien... Xanax... Fentanyl patches. When I was Honorably discharged...the VA switched me from Ambien...to 100mg Trazadone per my request. I am a Wounded Warrior and suffer from TBI and severe PTSD...and Trazadone has worked great for me the past 14 years...BETTER than AMBIEN. It's IMPORTANT to note that I choose to be on Trazadone...and NOT AMBIEN.
If you have a family history of bipolar and think you escaped the family curse, like I did, be very careful with this medication. Taking the prescribed dose sent me into a month long manic episode, which I had never experienced before then. Now I split the 50mg pills in 4, taking only a quarter pill when the insomnia is really bad. I only take a couple times a month, or a week, depending what's going on, but definitely don't take nightly as prescribed. Possibly due to my genetic risk of bipolar, possibly Bp2 though never officially diagnosed, 1/4 of one pill works really well for sleep as well as a gentle antidepressant with no side effects.
Having taken Trazadone for over 15 years, I find it especially helpful when my bipolar mind is racing. It makes sleep not only possible but also delightful!!!
Sensitivity to medications is massive. I had to cut my 25mg pills of Trazodone in half, and then I would skip nights because of how bogged down it made me if I kept taking it every night. Anyhow, Benzos were so addictive, Trazodone has been a life saver.
I just took my first dose last night and feel like a zombie still at lunch time, also feel like it gave me ptsd Like every little noise I heard this morning startled me.
Now that I've retired, I want to use sleep medication only as an emergency measure. I'm trying to implement all the CBT-I procedures, but sometimes I need medication. Even after retirement there are still sources of anxiety. So, I'm also getting counseling to treat the psychological causes, too.
@Luv_Carmen I also suffered from insomnia for ever. What helps me deal with the stress & anxiety brings is being in the present moment. I just tell my self that I can't predict the future (if I could I'd be a millionaire) or control the past but I can control this one minute & I look around & see that I am safe in the present moment. Focus on your breath or do grounding exercise to anchor u to the present. Oh, & focus on doing one thing at a time cuz when u Multitasking your brain stresses you out. Here is a simple video that has helped me out a lot ruclips.net/video/N93IvR45D80/видео.html. It has helped me get out of my mind & into my body/the present. Like this video says. When a animal hurts itself it doesn't over think cuz it trusts the body's power to naturally heal itself. It just goes lay down until it's healed. Get out of your head & just trust your body to eventually heal itself without your mental noise
Even my dog has been on Traz!!! The vet prescribed it to help her anxiety. I have been taking it for 14 years… it works great for sleep. No drugged feeling in the morning. I was prescribed when my son died, and all my blood work and everything is fine. It is non addictive.
Didn't make me sleepy at all. No matter how many mg. But the gernic of ambien works wonders. I sleep like a baby and wake feeling refreshing and ready to work .
You're not supposed to just conk out when you lie down in bed. Ever hear of sleep latency? It's the opposite of what you think. Longer to fall asleep is actually a good thing. Shorter to fall asleep means your body is extremely tired.
I was on Trazodone for over 20 years. Then I think something changed with the formulation because after an hour or so I couldn't breathe through my nose. I was severely congested every night for 3 - 4 hours. It took me a couple of months to figure out which of my meds was the culprit. I had to abruptly stop taking it. Now I am so extremely sleep-deprived. My doctor had no suggestions so I switched to a new doctor and she only said I need to deal with my stress. Thanks for adding to my stress, doc! Chronic insomnia is REAL! I am so fed up, I feel like I am losing it sometimes.
This is for anyone struggling with chronic insomnia, it can get better trust me. I ended up developing chronic insomnia after a heath scare and didn’t sleep for close to a month straight. I tried every natural medicine and also tried hydroxine and thc. Nothing worked. I eventually found Cbti and started following the protocol as strict as possible. Months went by and I saw improvements but still only slept 2-3 hours a night. It took me 6 months of retraining my mind. I’m happy to say today I sleep better now than I did before my insomnia started. I hope this gives someone out there hope as I know i was In the same position as most of you researching this drug and many others as a last resort. If anyone has questions I’d be happy to help.
@@Heed2070 suspected stroke but it actually wasn’t. I started on Cbti which is a 6 week program. I noticed a small change right away but it took about 4 weeks to see some bigger improvements. Going from 0-2 hours a night to about 3-4. I still had a bunch of set backs. I eventually found Martins course which is called insomnia coach. I didn’t pay for the course but I used the forum on there. There’s tons of helpful information on there that goes beyond basic Cbti techniques. Around month 3-4 I sleeping 5-6 hours and month 5 I was back to around 8. Let me know if you have more questions
My doctor changed me to Trazadone after years of Lunesta which had stopped working for me. I've been on it for two months and like it so far. I am sleeping.
I took trazodone for 20 years and it helped me sleep but it made everything else in my life fall apart. I got arrhythmia, orthostatic intolerance, chronic fatigue syndrome, it ruins your memory and often worstens anxiety.
I have most of this symptoms without taking this or any other similar drugs…😭 Insomnia is killing me and don’t know what to take… hope you are doing better now.
Bro its so annoying you read 10 positive comment about anxiety etc and then one guy "it made everything worse". IF IT MADE EVERYTHING WORSE WHY DID YOU TAKE IT FOR 20 YEARS? Excuse me but clearly something is unreflective of the medication in this comment. Did you develop these problems after 1, 5, 10, 20 years? What is your general health like? How can you know that this medication caused these effects over a timespan of 20 years. Literally anything else including aging itself could cause these effects. For all i know you could be a fat alcoholic. You don't start taking these kind of pills at age 10 and you mostly didn't took them until age 20-30 so of course you get worse memory if you are like 50.. and even if you make it seem like its a nightmare medication. Fatigue syndrome.. ruins your memory.. in what sense? You can't remember what you ate for breakfast 2 weeks ago? Worsens your anxiety, how? If you gonna write a review then please be specific and not just write useless information that prevents other people from taking it. I honestly doubt you got any of these symptoms from this stuff, its literally ALL age related illnesses or simply caused by bad/lazy life choices. If you continued taking it for 20 years nonetheless then you are just dumb.
@@rosagarcia7423 Yeah EXACTLY.. Hate when people assume side effects from a drug when they cant even proof the correlation. I honestlly feel like this guy is just not in a good shape and blames its effects on some random pill.. yikes.

@Greg Doucette I'm just curious if tradozone is for sleep, for anxiety or both? Is it something like valium or xanaxlike meds, something like gabapentine and Lyrica/pregabalin or something completely different? I have add and ADHD but can't afford to buy ADHD meds here in Thailand. Only valium and xanax but I'm worried about getting addicted plus I don't like being in a zombiestate all day long. But I need something to relax my overdrive brain with. Ganja works but only for the night. If you know I'd be greatful for answers 😊
I’m usually very tolerant of medications, but trazadone…prescribed as a possible solution for my insomnia, was a problem. And the “problem” has happened ever time I’m inclined to take too big a dose. 150mg seems to help somewhat for sleep, but if I need to get up and pee (as I do frequently) I have literally caught myself passing out and being completely disoriented. It may very well help, but I think you have to find a balance between efficacy and crossing the line and going overboard. Taken in too big a dose, it is a very powerful med. it’s tempting to take too big a dose when you’re so completely desperate to try and sleep, but…and maybe it’s just me…we’re all different…be VERY careful getting up at night.
Who is the mfg./brand ??.. I don't take this med, though may ask my Dr . I have noticed many times with meds that they can work quite different , from one brand name to the next. that's why i ask u brand name so i can avoid that one.. thx 🌺 i wish you the best 🙏✨
I take 200 mg for sleep and anxiety . I started at 100 mg and through out 10 plus years it was gradually increased by my psychiatrist. I haven’t had any real side effects from this medication.
I've been taking Trazodone for 30 years; 300 mg. No complaints as a sleep aid. For me, if I have a snack first and then take it. It's way more effective. Also with me, the effectiveness lasts exactly 4 hours. But now I am in the process of weaning myself off of it. One side effect that Trazodone has is the heart arrhythmia the Doc spoke of-- "Prolonged QT " I am also on Methadone, have been for 7 years now. First started on it to help me with opiate addiction. I have a very bad spine now, doctors can't operate and none of their pain relieving processes like SCS and pain pump. So for now, I can get some pain relief from the Methadone. If I went to a higher dose of methadone, I got that Prolonged Qt thing. So all in all, that's why I am quitting Trazodone. Hopefully, I will be able to increase the methadone. I will get EKG's to make sure.
After 17 years of trying different medications for depression and some PTSD issues, nothing worked. My doctor gave me this for insomnia and after taking it, I noticed a difference almost right away. Imagine my surprise that it wound up helping me a lot. I had no idea it was for depression too when I started taking it. The racing thoughts at bedtime stopped, I sleep better, and I have more motivation and energy. Trazodone finally gave me some hope, since I'd really thought nothing was ever going to help me. There are a few side effects, like dry mouth at first, some unintentional weight loss, and sometimes morning grogginess/oversleeping. All these are very mild and not a problem, esp when compared to how I was before. I'm glad doctors still prescribe it and I hope more consider it for issues that don't respond to SSRIs or more 'typical' anti-depressants.
I’ve experienced trazadone making me sleepy but not sleepy enough to make me fall asleep..soon after That I won’t be tired anymore and have the craziest appetite ever
A side effect not mentioned in the video is it can prevent ejaculation (in men, of course). I noticed this and was fearful at first that my under control prostate cancer had taken a turn for the worse. Then I found out about this side effect and I was relieved to learn.
Some antidepressants have been prescribed to men to treat premature encores because of how the drugs have historically induced dysfunction in women. It's like they channeled it and put it to some positive use. But there are some side effects out there that can't be put to good use
I have suffered from insomnia for years which was making my life miserable. I just started taking 50mg and it has been such a good help . I don’t even wanna get up in the morning .
Thank you, Dr. Richardson. I just got prescribed trazodone for sleep. While I had many of my questions answered, you filled in some of the remaining gaps.
So my family is plagued with a genetic disorder which makes all of us suffer from insomnia, sleeping 3-4 hours was considered a good night off sleep for us, maybe I'd sleep 7 hours a night maybe once or twice year. It was literally a person on Reddit who recommended this to me, went to my GP, got this, 75mg dose, I'm doing 9 hours on average now. I've literally reverse aged maybe 10 years with 6 months of extremely good sleep. All my bloodmarkers are excellent, and it seems a lot of the damage has been reversed. The system im in, never once recommended me this but prescribed me 600 euro a month benzo's which made me suicidal. What a god send, 20 cents a pill, it saved me and my family.
I was prescribed trazodone for sleep and I’m also bipolar I took it for a week straight and well low and behold I think it is what flung me into a manic state once I stopped taking it and just took my depakote I started to come down. I haven’t taken trazodone for over a year now
This is my miracle drug for sleep. Puts me to sleep in 15 minutes with no side effects. When I first started, though, I did feel faint for a few days. But still, not for everyone!
It scared me the first night and I have not taken it since! My doctor prescribed 150mg but told me to take half a tablet! I did and It felt like I was passing out and feverish! I did not fall asleep on it..... However I only took it for the ONE night!
Very thankful for this sleep aid, but it makes me extremely hungry, and I have had crazy dreams since starting this medication 5-6 years ago. 300 mg is my dosage. Anyone else have either one of these side effects?
Dont know about non addiction..took tras for about 3 years then developed extreme dizziness that lasted 4 days with me just lying in bed..took about 4 months to get past what l call “addiction “ of the drug.. 🇨🇦
So similar to myself..the dizziness..a killer for 4 days..dr never mentioned it..4 months to kick it..only use it now if am anxious about a problem on my mind..🇨🇦
I've been taking 150mg for about 7 yrs now. My neurologist prescribed to me. I was diagnosed with CIDP and I would wake up with bottom of my feet burning due to my nerve endings and neuropathy. I absolutely get my sleep without interruption of my feet burning. Thankfully no side effects and hope it stays that way.
I've been on this medication for years. Atleast 20 years. I also take Xanax. I don't know what I would do without these drugs. I'm not into new drugs. Before the medication I was in trouble my bi polar was wow. And alcohol ruined my life. Now I have a Great life. And sober.
I tried Trazodone for one night like 20 years ago. Agree, it knocked me out, but I felt weird the next day. I have been on Xanax and Clonazapam for at least 30 years. Works great for me. Happy trazadone works for you
I took this medication for 2-3 years. After about 2 years I started to get severe nose bleeds. I thought it may have been from a nasal spray I was using. I ran out of trazodone and had some trouble getting the prescription renewed. The nose bleeds stopped. I got a new prescription and started taking it again. Guess what the nose bleeding started again. I put 2&2 together and stopped taking trazodone about 6 months ago and have only had one nose bleeding since. I believe it was the cause. Anyone else having the problem consider stop taking for a while and see what happens.
I only take about 25mg (i cut it in half and it works like a charm for sleep!) of trazodone, i did take hydroxyzine, but it quit having any effect on me, so i was put on trazodone… the only bad effects are 1. I have a very heightened sense of smell while on it, and 2. If im half asleep and open my eyes to either go to the restroom or get some water (this happens mostly when i take the trazodone, only had it happen maybe 2 or 3 times my whole life, its just magnified with trazodone) i sometimes will start hallucinating someone standing at the foot of my bed, or something crawling up my wall, it mostly pertains to whatever is a big stressor in life for me! Other than that, it’s been a life saver, sleeping less than 2 hours doesnt do too well with a driving job!
I take an ambien and half a traz each night...I have been on it for many years after having a breakdown because of lack of sleep...I mean NO SLEEP for days. Finally got my dosage dialed in and I sleep for a straight 6-7 hours most nights. Got a bed that elevates my head. Changed my life! When I have tried to go completely off sleep meds (even lowering dosage slowly...I have tried it all)...it sends me into a spin and I go back into NO SLEEP mode. I have learned I need it and my doc agrees...if it works...go with it.
Its conciderd a drug though . Please dont take it, Try something thats natural, It works very well . There are all natural sleep products that are very good. ,
I been on 200 mg for around 14 years every night. I want to stop and give body a break, but noticed I feel addicted to it. I cant stop and sleep now, so I just keep taking it . I'm a flight attendant and the life-style is insane .
So I was put on trazodone for not being able to sleep in this is the absolute worst medication ever after using it for a while the side effects, horrible. My sinuses would dry up so bad that I started to mouth breathe although it does get you to sleep, waking up after taking it. And I would feel completely and utterly drunk, dizzy, lightheaded. I had to stop taking it two months after I started taking it. Of course I discussed all this with my doctor, but still, I believe there are better medication‘s out there for sleep than trazodone, I would rather not sleep or sleep only a couple of hours at night, rather than wake up feeling like I do after I’ve taken the medication. insured trazodone sucks….
First let it be stated that I am neurodivergent. I have PTSD, ADHD, and am autistic. I say this because having a differing neurological landscape, I believe, matters a lot in terms of my personal experience. I was prescribed trazodone for sleep and took it only once. I felt as if sleepiness were a sort of helmet. But there was within my mind a sense of nervousness, fear, and anxiety accompanying the sleepiness. This seems counter intuitive, but it was my experience. I was informed of this before I took it, so being aware that I could feel that way as a side effect helped me find a solution. I paired it with 1 mg of Xanax and it did the trick. But I won't be taking trazodone again.
I have to pair trazadone with lorazepam…not ideal and helps. If i were younger I’d exercise and do other things like i used to and in older age just anything to survive within my lessening capacities.
Thank you for providing the information about your medical conditions as well as your experience with this particular drug. Without that context, readers can be misled or confused. I wish everyone was so careful with their comments.❤
I was prescribed this for anxiety/ insomnia, in 2000. I took ONE tablet ( 100 mg). I was exhausted but terrified. I felt like I was losing my mind. I felt as though Iwas standing next to myself- it was utterly horrifying. I made my husband PROMISE to remind me of how awful my experience was, just in case I agreed to try it again, EVER😊
Finally took a tablet to see what it will feel like. I got this prescription almost a year ago but never even opened the bottle until tonight. I finally started 5mg of Lexapro 3 weeks ago and it seems to be helping so I’ll move to 10 mg after I feel I have stabilized on 5 mg so that I have a better chance of knowing how it is working when the dosage changes. My Trazadone says to take one or two at bedtime as needed but in the video he says it’s a SSRI so I’ve got to do some more research. My Dr clearly answered me that I can take these two medications together so I guess I’ll try and have some trust.
Guys im 46 years old trying this Trazodone for the first time..nervous about it..havent in two days..anxiety and hypnic jerks..im miserable but i hope Trazodone helps me
Long term Trazadone caused knee pain and stiffness along with leg muscle fatigue and pain. My right leg went numb from standing. 200 mg. Had to discontinue use. All my symptoms disappeared.
How long did you take to discontinue? Were you reducing dosage? I once took trazodone associated with an ISRS, but the dosage was too high for me (50mg), and I started having the unwished erections. I stopped the medication "cold turkey", but I still got those weird erections. I'm afraid they will never stop happening, so I think of reinstating and quiting slowly.
I was given Trazodone to help me sleep the first night I was in a hospital for something. I slept but the next morning I had a full bladder and I was unable to urinate. I reported this to the nurse and she said it was a rare side effect. It was discontinued immediately. My ability to urinate took about 12 hours to come back that day. I put it on the list of medications I am allergic to just as a precaution so it is never given to me again if I’m ever in the hospital again.
I love my Trazodone , asleep by the time my head hits my pillow. You have to sleep 8 hours or you're going to be groggy in the morning. I was prescribed it for Fibromyalgia.
I’ve had depression all my life even during my childhood. From my middle 20’s I’ve tried every antidepressant on the market & none has ever made me have suicidal thoughts!
So what are you saying…Traz gave you suicidal thoughts or all those drugs on the market that you tried including Traz did NOT give you suicidal thoughts? Please be more clear.
I want to weigh on on the discussion of Trazodone with factually information you can ask your Pharmacist (not your doctor) about. I have yet to see this mentioned in any videos on Trazodone. And it needs to be factored in. The list of medications that Trazodone interaction with is unbelievable long. It interacts with medication from pretty much every drug classification. If you are in your 40s, talk to your Pharmacist to get a list of the specific medications it interacts with. Now, you maybe thinking that , I am not on any medications. True, but if you develop high blood pressure or simple aging issues, Trazodone will greatly reduce which medications are available to you. It also reacts to many over the counter medications like benadryl. The second thing is that because it is technically an antidepressants it can build up in your system and cause serotonin syndrome or slowly start interfering with your mental health. It creeps up slowly, and usually you don't realize it until it has exasperated your mental health symptoms. Note: This can also be the case for individuals who weren't previously had mental health issues. The other thing is it can increase anxiety or feeling tense or on edge. This one is tricky to spot because initial you will feel like your more awake because you are sleeping better. You start to attribute your increasing alertness with the fact that you have been sleeping better than you have for years. You increase your activity load and productivity because you have more energy. Then you start feeling more restless or on edge or worse you start having panic attacks. If you start experiencing anything like I described, talk to your doctor before adding or increasing medications for anxiety or panic attacks. It maybe the Trazodone. I want to be clear about this particular item: you can be on Trazodone for years and then out of nowhere, you start developing these issues. Again antidepressants can work well for years, decades even, and then start causing side effects you did experience prior. This is true with Trazodone. Lastly, withdraw from Trazodone is very real. I was told by my GP and psychiatrist that Trazodone was 100% safe to take long-term and doesn't cause withdraw. No it most certainly isn't 100% safe and you definitely will go through withdraw even if you taper off. The withdraw contines past the point of being no longer on the medication. Withdraw like substance misuse, the withdraw contnues after you have stopped using. Also talk to your doctor and Pharmacist about how to taper of Trazodone. Sudden stopping Trazodone can cause seizures, heart arrhythmia or afib, Increase of anxiety, suicidal thoughts, depression, and the worst being that you're insomnia comes back worse than it was before. I tapered off Trazodone and literally went 9 months unable to sleep whatsoever. I am talking zero sleep. FYI this is also the case for Seroquel withdraw , the absolute inability to be able to sleep for 9 months to a year. Please before taking this medication really wieght in the potential long-term repercussions and consequences. At the very least watch the video on Trazodone by TheLevelHeaded Mind Take care
I believe that all this is the truth. Al I have a problem because after escitalopram I developed severe insomnia. I know SSRIs are bad but what to do now with insomnia should I take tradozn or seroquel ? what do you think?
I was on trazodone for a while and yeah it’s not fun I had suicidal thoughts frequently. So anyone starting to take trazodone or is already on that might have these thoughts maybe try stopping the trazodone for a week. I felt better within a couple days.
my issue isn't falling asleep, it' staying asleep. I constantly wake up in the middle of the night or early in the morning and simply struggle to pass back out. I'm incredibly healthy otherwise, surf, work out 5-6 days a week, perfect hormones/micro nutrient profiles based on blood tests. I don't eat added sugar and I almost never eat processed food of any kind. I've been trying to take a natural route for the last 2 years and finally am trying trazodone. 2 days in and I haven't really noticed much of a positive effect but I've been told to give it a week or so to adjust.
Hey, I’m in a similar situation to you (have been trying the natural routine for years) and was just prescribed trazodone. Has it helped you? Thanks in advance.
How has Traz worked for you after 2 years? I’ve also been doing natural (cbd/thc tincture), but was recently prescribed this for anxiety at night and it’s light anti-depressant effects. Curious if it’s helped you? thanks.
I have been experiencing auditory hallucinations occasionally with it at 50mg which i take every night. But aside from that, it's helping me on my insomnia.
@@Heed2070 Hallucinations are rare but a common occurrence with Traz. is VERY VIVID dreams. Occasionally nightmares. Personally, I enjoy the drama in my sleep. Very entertaining and I get good sleep. Tiny problem...very groggy/lethargic next day. Fix? One small Red Bull.
I was prescribed 50 as well to take 1- 2 as needed for sleep. Not at all habit forming, taken occasionally. SInce I've been occasionally taking it I wake up very deezy, seeing stars. Having bad pains in my stomach. I've passed out 3-4 times in the middle of the night hitting my head on my way to the bathroom & once on the toilet in the middle of the night I woke up after slamming my head on the hard bathroom floor. I have no idea if I took trazodon those nights but I try to avoid it- 1 time felt the side of my head hitting my bedroom floor repeatedly. This never used to happen & again I cannot even remember if I took trazodon these nights, but a very sick stomach woke me up & I ended up dizzy, seeing stars & down & out. I'm trying to be careful when I go to sleep now & use caution, even 2 pillows under my head. All these glowing reviews. I never had these issues since the period taking of trzodone but cannot say for sure. My experiences were pure suffering when they occured. Horrible stomach contactions in the middle of the night while passing out & hitting ur head. Be safe too, with this medication.
I’ve been on trazadone for years and have done well with it. Initially I had to lie down when it started to take effect because of nausea. But that’s gone now. It doesn’t always work fast but it keeps me asleep all night.
Trazodone right from the start made me sleep 8 hrs. and eliminate night terrors. Am groggy in AM for a short time but then ready to go. Perhaps I am addicted now after so many years but who cares. I still struggle with depression and PTSD but with Citalipram as well I stay fairly stable. Lucky to have Trazodone.
Got diagnosed with ADHD and Insomnia at the age of 13. Right before I turned 14. My issues with trazodone were soreness the entire next day, and I was easily irritable.
Yep. And that irritability i am guessing is a type of anxiety. I dont’ think this video (didn’t watch whole thing) mentioned serotonin syndrome and seemed to only mention the potential of “Unmasking” bipolar and not PTSD which SSRIs and Trazadone can do by increasing the fight or flight response after the initial seditative effects lessen.
I've been on Trazadone for years. It isn't habit forming for me. I was put on it by my Dr. years ago after we lost our 5 year old son. It helps me sleep but it doesn't make me go to sleep. Everybody is different.
Did your mother cook for you or did you mostly eat processed foods? I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Although, I have seen children that were just plain old neglected that went in and were given a diagnosis as well. Just know: you will overcome. Hugs.
I could not fall asleep due to racing thoughts and trazodone helped me to fall sleep and have a calm nights sleep. I have been on it for years. And have no plans to change this. I have had no side effects.
This is one of the drugs that destroyed my life. The Dr's had me on trazadone, ambien, bulspar along with Vicodin. I had issues I needed to work out, but didn't need the meds. I've been off all that shit and now I'm fine.
Just wanted to add..I've had involuntary muscle movements/jerking with extreme restless legg issues. I'm down from 100mg to 25mg.. The issues have lessened but still quite present. Next step down is 25mg every Other night. ✌ Thank you
Have your ferritin level checked. If it’s below 30, you very like have iron deficiency which is highly associated with restless leg syndrome. Be aware that ferritin can falsely be elevated in the presence of infection or inflammation so make sure your doctor is ruling those things out if they suspect so that iron deficiency is properly identified and treated.
Trazodone didn’t have much of an impact on my RLS. I take .5mg of Ativan up to 3 times a day for anxiety. My Psychiatrist told me to use one of those doses with my trazodone at night. It’s working great!
That’s what is does for me also, it keeps me asleep! Last night I slept almost 10 hours. Without Trazadone, I never sleep more then a couple hours.
Man I just got prescribed it a few days ago because I have the same problem. I can fall asleep but I wake up about 3 hours later and then off and on the rest of the night. I really hope it helps me.
@@rogert5365 Good luck!
I am happy for you. I take ambien and ativan...get alot of criticism but it helps me live my life
@@BonnieHaynes-gg4nk It’s hard to know with whom it’s safe to share medical information.
Do you fail the drug test for work when you take trazodone
Same same, I have chronic insomnia, if I didn't take a sleep aid don't no when I will sleep 👈🏾
It’s impossible to sleep with the level of anxiety I have
i've been taking 100mg trazodone for about a year now, and it's crazy to see how much something as simple as sleeping 7-8 hours a night can improve your overall mental health and help manage adhd symptoms
How long did it take when you started getting 7-8hrs of sleep?
@@ALFitness213 Albert did you find something that works better for you yet? I haven't taken trazodone yet but I'm scared it won't get the job done.

I’ve been on trazodone for 18 years, and it still knocks me out within 15 minutes of taking it. I love the fact I can sleep through the night. Might also have to do with praying that I fall asleep quick.
Do you take it every single night? Thank you for sharing your experience with it!!
I think the praying helps alot GOD is good
I’ve been on trazodone for about that long myself.
Trazodone helped my insomnia but it took a long time to work. It didn't work like a sleeping pill which it is not.
Has it caused any weight gain as a side effect?
Have you noticed any tolerance issues yet? I started on 50mg, then after 18 months upped it to 100mg, now I'm needing 150 on some nights
The one thing I didn’t like about this medication is the next day I was feeling so hungover from it, but it did do the job of getting me to sleep
I just wanted to put that fun little side effect out there so others who get the weird dreams don't think that they are going crazy.

i thought it was just me… when i took it 5+ years ago, within the first few days i was noticing really, really weird stuff like idk, can’t remember much ab it now other than i’ve been dealing with insomnia since i was little, and tonight i decided to only take 25mg bc of that^, either way, nice to know it wasn’t just me

Thankyou! I stopped taking this for a week and was suicidal. I also was very bipolar. The minute I took a trazodone I felt fine.
Did you have these feelings before you started it? Or only as withdrawal symptoms
@@sunbabyocelot before and during. After I felt fine.

My goodness, I would LOVE to be able to sleep 8 hours. Even just once, to experience how rested and amazing it must feel to get that much sleep.
Any side effects ? Weight gain?
When I was on Ambien I actually heard voices while I was in sort of a Twilight sleep
I’ve been on Trazodone for several years. I was on 300mg for several years but a couple of years ago I cut it back to 150mg which works fine.
I take 75 mg 😅

My doctor changed me to Trazadone after years of Lunesta which had stopped working for me. I've been on it for two months and like it so far. I am sleeping.
A psychiatrist prescribed this to me years ago and told me it was good for "people who are depressed and cant sleep". It was perfect for me.
Your story is a match with my story. I'm grateful for trazodone. All the best to you.

I have Lymphoma and a loss of appetite so maybe this'll make me hungry!
For real. Always wake up at night eating way too much and feel like crap after lol
It does the same thing to me on 100mg 1 x a day
When I take Trazodone I experence lucid vivid dreams that are really crazy and I remember every detail.
What a shame.
Give it to all men!

There are all natural sleep products that are very good. ,

I take both...no problems
I took trazadone and it kept me up all night!
I have been on trazodon for 25 years or so and it really helps with my fibromyalgia trying to get to that deep sleep.
Note:
This can also be the case for individuals who weren't previously had mental health issues.
At the very least watch the video on Trazodone by TheLevelHeaded Mind
Take care
You might have sleep apnea.
How has Traz worked for you after 2 years? I’ve also been doing natural (cbd/thc tincture), but was recently prescribed this for anxiety at night and it’s light anti-depressant effects. Curious if it’s helped you? thanks.
I’ve been on Trazodone and Topamax for many yrs for sleep with chronic pain. The combination of the two works well, with no major side effects.
I have been experiencing auditory hallucinations occasionally with it at 50mg which i take every night. But aside from that, it's helping me on my insomnia.
Did the hallucinations stop? I'm about to use 50mg tonight.

Hallucinations are rare but a common occurrence with Traz. is VERY VIVID dreams.
I take 50 mg at night to stop my mind racing! Never had any side effects except rest! 😊
How? I took 50 mg and it kept me awake all night, literally.
I take 75-100. 50 does next to nothing for me
only thing that controls my racing mind is marijuana…THC at approx 50 mg a nite. I sleep for 5-6 hrs straight and feel great upon arising.
Thanks been skeptical about taking this as it’s an anti depressant
I cut the 50s in half.
On this med my head was awake and my other parts were feeling paralyzed. So one was enough for me
20 years and still the best med I take. 100 mg at bedtime and wake up happy. I am a CPTSD patient as well.
Hi there if you don't mind me asking how many mgs did you start off with?
@@Heed2070 Have bee at 200mg for many years which is about 1/4the maximum dose.
I have taken Trazodone for sleeping for around 15 years and never had a bad reaction or couldn't sleep during the night.
Was it to help you sleep?
@TeslaEmperor No, I got ambien for that
@@richarddawdy8488 It definitely helped you sleep?
Trazadone and Ambien at the same time?
I have taken for many years and it’s been awesome for me!
Just wanted to add..I've had involuntary muscle movements/jerking with extreme restless legg issues. I'm down from 100mg to 25mg.. The issues have lessened but still quite present. Next step down is 25mg every Other night. ✌ Thank you
Try some magnesium.
Try magnesium oil spray and massage into your feet and lower legs.
