Our veterinarian has prescribed this for one of our dogs who struggles with exceedingly high anxiety. He takes it every night, and his overall daily anxiety has lowered noticeably. We tried everything else before agreeing to trying him on this. We are not lazy. He has a full, active life, competes in flyball, lure coursing, and many other varied dog sports. He only competes or plays in the ones he enjoys. He loves most of them. For rainy or freezing days, we purchased a dog treadmill, and use that so he can get at least some physical activity in. The Trazadone still, 5 weeks later isn't putting me to aleeo, not I've definitely noticed my thoughts are calm and lessened. Never needed more than 50 but sometimes I’ve done 100 thinking about depression but in general I’m at the age when any pills should be considered strongly. Only just heard about twice a day and am trying 25 x2 daytime and 50 at bed time. I’ve never had much of a problem with it over 20 years during which time I stopped a couple times with absolutely no side effects except loss of of sleep at first. Mild though.
Thank you for this info. I appreciate you. I’m wondering which would be better….50mg Trazodone or 25mg Seroquel? I just listened to the info on Seroquel and it definitely seems like Trazodone is way better than Seroquel.
25 mg is usually a very low dosage for depression. You should take at least 100/150 mg to see its antidepressant effects. But anyway, you better consulting a doctor and never rise or lower the dose by yourself!!
I just got prescribed 50mg trazodone for sleep because I only get about 2-4 hours of sleep a night. I already freaked myself out by reading horror stories about this medication but I really want to sleep.
This combination can be dangerous as it can cause too much sedation and increase risk for anticholinergic effects. If you are having issues with it talk to your provider about. In small doses it may work just fine though.
Both of these medications can cause sedation so be careful with that. But no other drug interactions. If you have concerns about this combination discuss it with your doctor.
Discuss this with your doctor or nephrologist. However, according to the FDA label no adjustment in dosage is necessary for those with renal impairment.
Can you make a video on carbamazepine? My doctor just put me on tegretol and uped my dose of abilify and prozac. I'm confused because of their effects on one another. Thank you!
I think there are drug interactions here and should be disgusted with the doctor who prescribed them. Sounds like too much as l had friends have the same problem. Very important, in my opinion. Good luck 🙏
Was on 50mg for almost 3 years did an altered dose for almost a year of 25mg on certain night but my full 50mg on some nights, didnt feel much worse so i jumped to just 25mg a night, idk if this is rebound or it is withdrawl but the depression is insane. 150 mg for sleep/severe insomnia. I’d recommend it for sleep if one has no desire to ever date again. Sleeping alone… waterproof mattress cover, two overnight diapers, (one put on forward, one reversed), and then wrap yourself in cellophane. Enjoy!
My wife started using Trittico XR few days ago, taking one dose 150mg at evening as a swap for prozac, bcause of heavy libido loss with SSRI. And she sleeps for 9-12 hours, and even after that, she looks half alive for the rest of next day. I just hope, that this sedative reaction will subside in time. She has also drug resistant epilepsy. We are just tired of trying new medications, bcause none of them works as it should, and even if it works (prozac helped with general emotional state), it has very harsh side effects.

I really appreciate your experience and perspective. I just got out on this. A year and half not sleeping and just thinking all night. Trained myself to just lay still for seven or eight hours and I suppose it’s just trying to meditate and keep eyes closed and rest my body but fully conscious. It’s torturous but the best I can do. I’m on 50 mg and is been two nights and mostly I’ve only noticed maybe that my thoughts have .. stilled somewhat. I’m hoping it’ll kick in after I few more nights. I don’t like or want to be medicated but I’m thankful for your shared experience
@@beauubenjaminn - it’s my experience that it takes a bit to build in your system. Give it a few a bit. I don’t actually notice it other than it helps me shut off my mind (I’ve always been horrible at waking up in the morning, so I can’t speak to any increase of morning grogginess, I’m already a morning zombie…)
@@beauubenjaminnI heard that’s not too bad to just lie still with your eyes closed even if you’re conscious. Some say this can work just as good
@@NOV123 well, all I know lol is I'm still alive and for the most part am relatively good after my normal 2 cups of coffee and giving myself about 2 hours from getting out of bed to getting to work. I have a small cup midday and then around 4pm and I'm OK. It's just the weirdest thing, and I try not to think about it much. The Trazadone still, 5 weeks later isn't putting me to aleeo, not I've definitely noticed my thoughts are calm and lessened. And, I'm almost certain at this point it's not placebo, my general attitude and emotional regulation is much better. I don't spaz out and rage out of control at the slightest dumb thing anymore. Traffic, work mishaps, etc. I know it was initially developed for anxiety depression but is used higher doses for that, but I dare say it's given me just enough help taking an edge off that has helped my stress levels
I am insomnic. Trazodone had almost no effect.
And I followed all the usual rules -- no screens before bed. No alcohol. No late snacks. Quiet in the bedroom. Bedtime at the same time to establish routine.
Stuff didn't make a dent.

Believe in Jesus Christ the King of Kings Lord of Lords and you will truly be saved.
Very true.
Just prescribed 50mg 2x daily. But doc said try just one at first especially since she also gave me a muscle relaxer. I’m fighting locked up muscles in my back and insomnia. So your video was helpful because my pharmacist consult was basically "don’t drive on either of these."
I use it for sleep. I CAN get up early. I go to bed about 9 pm though.
The only two side effects that I've had was extreme drowsiness upon waking up and extremely vivid dreams.
I'm also taking Klonopin for my anxiety and it still works I haven't built up a tolerance I'm still on the same dose for 12 years. It took two weeks of taking it before it started working. It helps me concentrate and helps me remember things really well. I'm one of the few people who needed to take it for two weeks before it started working.
Trazodone has never worked for sleep for me, not even close. Only about half of people get the sedation side effect of this antidepressant.
It didn't help me sleep but it did make me light headed and dizzy. It had caused very low blood pressure which has normalized since coming off this medication.
Thank you for the video. Fantastic info. Effexor and trazodone can be taken together?
Yes they can be, but keep a watch for risk of serotonin syndrome.
Trazadone has been a MIRACLE DRUG for me, for 30 years. Sleep long and deep
Lucky you ! Will exchange my sleep problems with you !
@Ashish-nd3xj Finding and using Trazadone got nothing to do with luck. Have you tried it? I take a large 200mg dose, very important
@@parkestanley2436 do you have anxiety disorder or anything else. Curious why you started and continued to take it for so long. Not worried about the dependency? Yes I have been taking it 50 mg for six months. I have OCD and depression
U use trazadone for 30 years? İt s the pnly medication that works for me. But ı m afraid to be dementhia or alzheimer in future😢
No!!!! I took it 7 years.....did the trick. Took a year of sleepless nights to stop with slow tapering.
Can you please do an informative video on atomoxetine/Strattera
I was very hopeful that trazodone would help me sleep. I was very disappointed. It made me feel nervous & anxious & my insomnia was worse. Stopped taking it.
I just went off clonazepam 2 mg nightly after taking it over 10 years, and it was horrible.
I am not looking forward to going off Trazodone and Mirtazapine at all. Gonna weeeeen off those slowly and not at the same time…
Have used it for 10 yrs , works great for me .
I completely lost all of my wonderful hair from Trazadon! It has taken over a year to get it halfway back. Read up on its true side effects or lose yours, too.
Works great, no side effects that I have noticed. I'm coming up on 21 days of being SOBER. I had to give up all ALCOHOL due to ALCOHOL withdrawal induced SEIZURES. Since giving up ALCOHOL I was having a very hard time reaching REM sleep, I will be taking this during the first 30 days of being SOBER 100 mg's and then I will cut the dose in half to 1 pill 50mg's a night until they are all gone.
I took 150 mg, it was ok, after 1 year, i cut slowly to 100 and then 50 mg, and now i have sleep problems, i wake during night 2/3times
I got very vivid nightmares, so l stopped. And l am in recovery for 4 yrs. and this drug plays tricks on my mind, l still get VERY little sleep. Any comments or suggestions?🙏
After you stop taking it, your problem could come back
@@nenadcubric2663 I sure hope not, I'm taking 1 tablet per night right now. next Monday 11/20I will start taking 1/2 a pill. My sleep has been very good lately< so I'm hoping it continues after I stop taking them.
@@linnie813 I also decided last Friday I would stop drinking coffee at work. I will only have my two cups in the morning. I saw a a RUclips video that you should not drink coffee 10hrs before bedtime. I think that is another reason why I may be sleeping better this week than last week.
I've been taking 50 mg Trazodone twice daily for depression and problems sleeping for the last 3 months and it's not helping my depression or helping me sleep.
That's too low to treat depression, sounds like you need a higher dose. But also make sure you have adequate vitamin D, B12, folate and Magnesium. Deficiencies in either of these can cause insomnia.
@@LevelheadedMind Thank you! I will talk to the nurse practitioner about that. I've been taking Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Biotin (for hair loss) for years along with Fish Oil (per my former doctor.) I just recently (in the last couple months) started taking Magnesium on my own cause I saw online that it would help with my lower back pain, but can't tell it's helping yet, but I will keep taking it. Thanks again!
Dear dr/ nurse, I find it really helps with depression and insomnia at 50mg dose.
I do have some ankle swelling, though after 1 week of use. Can I take extra B6 for that?
Will appreciate your feedback!❤
Hi Dra. my neurologist prescrib me trazadone for insomnia 50mg. Can I take too Doctor's Best, High Absorption Magnesium that help with sleep and muscle relaxation? Thanks
Yes you can take both without interactions but make sure to get approval from your doctor as there are other factors to consider as well.
@@LevelheadedMind Thank you very much doctor for the quick response :)
A great day for you.
I want to get off it! Been on it over two decades. Ideas?
Don't put it in your mouth, your welcome
Taper off very slow. 10% or less reduction every 4 weeks or longer depending on how you react.
I've been taking 35 snd then 60 mg of Trazodone for many years.
I sleep super well, and wake up with no drowsiness whst so ever..Potty breajs, no issue,. I go right back to sleep.
Glad to hear it works well for you.
68M here, I have had trouble falling asleep my entire life. Have been tacking Trazodone 50mg for a while now and I fall asleep within an hour every night. Used to be 2 to 3 hours.
I used it off and on for about a year. I had terrible leg muscle spasms from it that made it almost impossible to get to sleep at night. I thought they were from anxiety and didn't associate them with the medication until I noticed the leg spasms didn't occur on the nights I didn't take it.
Can you take 15 mg Remeron with 25 mg trazodone for sleep?
I have been taking Trazodone for sleep for about 3 months; the first night that I used it, I lost control of my bladder during the night; after that first night, I never had a bladder control problem.
Trazodone 50mg worked great for insomnia HOWEVER I've had a rough time getting off of it. You become physically dependent on it after a short time. I'm still tapering off it after more than a year. If I taper any faster I get bad withdrawal symptoms.
This cause my sinuses to plug requiring me to use nose spray to sleep. Whole new problems! I could only sleep for two hours on this drug!
Thanks!
Was taking it and sleeped for 4 hours, but was loosing my control of my bladder . Took 100 MG. Then just a quarter of that 3 nights ago 4 great hour's sleep but bladder , doesn't like it. My Women Doctor GYN. Checked saw nothing wrong with bladder. I stopped taking that med. Thank you for you up dates. Warmly mary

My doctor told me to take 100mg. for 3 months. I sleep normal without it but I have anger issues…should I take it ??😅
Hello i have C PTSD and have tried different medications over the past 15 years. I am currently taking Sertraline which has been increased slowly over 1 year but no help. I am thinking of swapping to Trazadone x
Do it!
When you said “drain blood from the penis” I let out an AHHHHHHH!
Lol! Yes, it is very uncomfortable and painful for men to have this procedure done.
@@LevelheadedMind As much as you intuitively know that it’s very painful, be thankful you will never REALLY know lmao
I feel like I have a hangover in the morning
Is it safe to take trazodone for many years ?will it related to dementia
Could i seelp normally after beèn use it ?
I accidentally took it, and it’s the morning. I’m obviously sleepy. Is it possible to stay awake with the medication?
I took some of this stuff and could barely get out of a chair. Told my doctor and he said ok , don’t take it like it as no big deal. Bad choice 😮
You shouldn't have taken it without consulting a doctor.
I have a really big problème to sleep and anxiety ne use pa OCD. I starded trazadone 50 mg. I found out I m preagnant . My doctor told me I can continue them. Si safe for pregnancy?
Since it is an anti depressant at heart, at 25mg can it still help with depression symptoms?
25 mg is usually a very low dosage for depression. You should take at least 100/150 mg to see its antidepressant effects. But anyway, you better consulting a doctor and never rise or lower the dose by yourself!!
What to do if you start to get blurred vision?
I just got prescribed 50mg trazodone for sleep because I only get about 2-4 hours of sleep a night. I already freaked myself out by reading horror stories about this medication but I really want to sleep.
Ignore her. EVERY drug you take has side effects and every drug you are scared of and refuse has side effects.
You need probably 100 or 150 mg
Can i use ketoconazole shampoo?
It's external you'll be fine
Can you take Trazodone and Hydroxizine toogether??
This combination can be dangerous as it can cause too much sedation and increase risk for anticholinergic effects. If you are having issues with it talk to your provider about. In small doses it may work just fine though.
Can this be taken as needed or it has to be every day?
For a low dose pill, Can you still take aspirin or Advil if needed?
I take 1 pill (25 mg). It lasts on me for about 5 nights.
Can 50mg trazadone be taken with 300mg gabapenten?
Both of these medications can cause sedation so be careful with that. But no other drug interactions. If you have concerns about this combination discuss it with your doctor.
I've done 600mg pregablin with 15 mirtazapine no issues but a great sleep. Both similar meds to your combo
It worked ok, but for me nothing can touch mirtazapine for making me sleep like a baby.
Is it safe for creatinine 1.50mg/dl level
Agre 25male
Discuss this with your doctor or nephrologist. However, according to the FDA label no adjustment in dosage is necessary for those with renal impairment.
Can you make a video on carbamazepine? My doctor just put me on tegretol and uped my dose of abilify and prozac. I'm confused because of their effects on one another. Thank you!
I believe that these are too many to take. I would be very concerned about their interaction with each other. 🙏
I think there are drug interactions here and should be disgusted with the doctor who prescribed them. Sounds like too much as l had friends have the same problem. Very important, in my opinion.
Good luck 🙏
What does all this
Mean 😮
Was on 50mg for almost 3 years did an altered dose for almost a year of 25mg on certain night but my full 50mg on some nights, didnt feel much worse so i jumped to just 25mg a night, idk if this is rebound or it is withdrawl but the depression is insane. Mind keeps jumping between this could be just withdrawl try to stay strong into please give me anything to stop the pain
I have been taking it for sleep, 100mg at bedtime. Still not sleeping more than 3 hours.
150 mg for sleep/severe insomnia.
I’d recommend it for sleep if one has no desire to ever date again.
Sleeping alone… waterproof mattress cover, two overnight diapers, (one put on forward, one reversed), and then wrap yourself in cellophane.
Enjoy!
It's so weird Trazodone only has 50mg while most patients only take 25mg...
I take 50mg and I'm still not falling or staying asleep? any suggestions?
Try taking two pills
I take 150mg with 4-5 other meds plus a lot of other propitious factors. The holistic treatment matters....
Very pleased wish this drug for help sleeping with fibromyalgia I can be tired and unable to fall asleep without assistance.
I took trazodone. I got a very stiff neck and I couldn’t move. It couldn’t turn my head so I discontinued it.
It helps me
Can this be an add on to Venlafaxine? Also sounds like it can be taken as needed??
I am using those 2 , too . According to my doctor yes you can take them together . But please visit a doctor before you do so .
You increase the risk of seretonin syndrome
It worked so great for me, but my throat swelled up twice. 😢
Make video on levotiracetam❤❤
Doesn't work for me..
Trazodone and Sleep Apnea??
I don't believe it is contraindicated for use in sleep apena, but run that by your doctor to be sure.
It caused me a sickle cell crisis so be careful.
Believe..i suffered insomnia with trazodone..my sleeping time came down to 5 hours..😢
Trazodone sent me to the hospital. Acute allergic reaction to this drug, cause me an involuntary dystonic reaction of neck and jaw muscles followed by occulogyric crisis of the eyes. an absolute nightmare! doctors told me to stay away from this!!
Ambien was better for me
No good for me. Didn't do anything. Must be mostly chalk now because of skimpflation :(
