I think that Musk is operating on the right path but he must not let AI technology have access to everything. He seems to want the best for people however his plans for robots will put way too many people out of work.
Zuckerberg is limited at understanding anything. He's still a little schoolboy in everything he says and does. All Zuckerberg has done in his entire life is to steal Facebook - a pathetic excuse for a man. I get embarrassed on his behalf whenever I see his stupid looking face. Musk on the other hand isn't much better. He has never earned an honest dollar in his entire life. Everything he has done rest on legalized coercion and theft. He's almost equally pathetic as Zuckerberg unless you're a nitpicker.

Facebook has had negative effects on society and the planet by allowing lies, misinformation and half truths to be spread on the platform. Facebook seems more interested in profits than in doing the right thing. Ethics, character and judgement matter.

You know, i understand the misconceptions of AI, but cancer treatment, genetic researches and research development are too important to say "AI is dangerous". Does anyone of you have a cousin who suffers cancer and you want to cure it? With AI, research would accelerate. I don't care Musk's MBA plan (yeah, i know he doesn't have it, that's the point), Genetics research results will make you regret fearing so much.

@@wipkpremium5691 There is a flaw with social media, we still are not connected to the bottom of the pyramid in a deep way. 3 billion people make under 2.50 a day, and even when we have social impact it is donor focused. Non profit companies are not end user focused from the perspective of the poor, nor are companies that have people volunteer. (tourist focused.) The bottom 4-5 billion people is actually the largest business market with an annual turnover of 11-13 trillion, 9-12 trillion in hidden assets, etc. Most often the poor are reduced to metrics like access to education, or financial metrics, or healthcare, but are people nothing more than metrics? Why are there no systems to connect to these people more effectively as full individuals with hopes and dreams? I am thinking through the problem, how to create a social connection/skill sharing site that is focused on social impact and the issue of global poverty. Unfortunately I have no tech experience, no money, and no connections. lol. I think if by some miracle I built it it would be far superior to Facebook, because its aim is the betterment of all mankind, not superficial connections which is what Instagram and Facebook often is.
I believe Mr. Musk is spot on and Mr. Suckerberg needs to get a grip and come into the light. You don't see Elon being under Congress's scrutiny that should tell a person something.

3:02 this is somewhat inaccurate, you cannot escape AI simply by moving to planets.
In fact AI would play a big role in building and operating rockets and maintaining mars bases (as its hard for humans to operate in that climate)
So Musk would actually gain a lot from AI (with Tesla too) but he seems to realize the obvious risks.
There is not only 1 reason why he's going to Mars.
Why not? Empty space is the best insulation. If you don't allow AI take root in your home planet, defending against it over space is much easier. At the very least you can see robot armada coming early.
@I am Kartik Actually, it's currently nowhere (unless some cutting edge lab has invented but keeping it secret). No current technology we currently possess has AI. And air gap as a security is one of the main hypothesized means to prevent nefarious AI from escaping into the wild. And where is there more gap than in the space between planets?
If you are talking about neural nets and such, that is not the type of AI we are talking here about.

2:48 Wholly inconsequential note: Meta has retired the Oculus brand, and their current VR headset is now called the Meta Quest, rather than Oculus Quest. If you understand anything about information processing or computers, you would be concerned about ai. Zuck is in denial because his business model relies on the development of ai, but overall Musk is correct here. Mathematically, if you have an ai that learns from its mistakes to any extent, over an infinite period of time its intelligence will grow exponentially into what's called a technological singularity. It would be impossible for a human brain to understand a processing system that is so much more complex than it; like Elon said, it would be like trying to have a cat understand how the human brain works.
In this case making inefficient AIs (as not being able to learn from its every mistake) you can kinda circumvent this problem. If you know anything about programming you would know that every algorithm has a start. Now if you hardcode at the start of the algorithm rules that aren't allowed to be circumvented , then you cant run in said problem.

@@caniborrowapencil5160 You don't allow it. You make a series of rules and then don't give the AI the rights to modify set piece of code. The only problem is to ensure it can't access said code , probably nobody would be able to.

@@caniborrowapencil5160 I think you misunderstood me. The only part that the AI won't be able to modify would be its core logic rules on how to decide to do something. This although could prevent the AI from taking the most efficient approach , it could also prevent it from taking decisions that would counteract to our goals.

We certainly shouldn't just blindly trust anyone, but how we place trust in anybody shouldn't be based on one aspect or stereotype either. Many years ago people make similar statements based on the skin color or being poor, with some generalized theory that their status is created from some wrong doing. We've learned many valuable lessons to not think that way since then.
People are complex and multifaceted. There are many publications covering these prominent figures and they are a great read. My point is that we shouldn't even ask the question whether we trust them or not, but rather, do we understand them or not. Through understanding we can learn a lot that can apply to our own lives, or elevate to the point of having our own opinions that's grounded in facts and past actions, and not a repeat of someone else's opinions.

If you look up Tesla AI day, you can see that Musk is a bit hypocrite on this. He is investing big into AI, even developing his own supercomputer just for AI. Also, anyone who knows anything about machine learning will tell you the same thing; yeah, AI may be a threat to humanity in the long term, but at this moment, we are as far away from that, as is a cow from the stars. I get his point; he is worried about ultimate technology and about the long term. But if you allow me an analogy, the situation is the same, like if a caveman yelled at other cavemen about the danger of nukes, in the time when they didn't even know how to make a fire, let alone iron.

As long as AI don't learn consciousness, it definitely wouldn't be as dangerous as nuclear warheads. AI is just the next level of industrialization..
Once it learnt consciousness and learns to form its opinions and ideals, that would be different story. But scientist can't even explain how consciousness formed, so I'm confident AI won't be able to learn it either, since AI need to be fed information to be able to learn. And you can't feed consciousness
