I know people who even got success in the valley but started outside. People who started in the valley still grew bigger. Money attracts money and power. Actually US protects intellectual property rights very strictly. Recently they almost banned a foreign company from operating in the country because they stole trade secrets from another country, just because it happened on American soil.

Not to mention that 2d growth has a pretty short ceiling. You can only widen a road inside a city so many times. But I am pretty sure adding the y dimension in road planning increases exponentially your ability to facilitate higher car count in a single period of time. The only real issue I haven't heard the boring company tackle is how to handle the increased inflow or outflow of cars. I bet you have heard a ton of people say that adding a lane never fixes a traffic problem but they are kinda wrong. If you add a lane in every single of your roads , traffic will be better even if the city sees an increase in drivers. That is because you are also increasing the capabilities of your roads to accept more card as well as for said cars to leave.
