Amazing video as always! I think both Apple and Tesla have very different goals and I think Apple is aiming their current products such as the iPhone 13 to be directed to those already owning an iPhone or Apple product instead of aiming for that "wow" factor.

@@MrSiddharthaSaha well I kinda agree, the market value is wayyyy too high, I mean just imagine, I mean the current market cap is bigger than all the other major automobile makers COMBINED. After peaking 800+ it's was on a decline, sign of the bubble bursting, but it some how again peaked and now is again on 800+. Okay electric maybe the future but with demand would increase the competition and I don't personally think they would be able to justify the current pricing.
@@-french_fries- They are absolutely going to go bankrupt if they do not drop the prices, the thing is that more and more car manufacturers are making cheaper and cheaper electric cars, Tesla can boast about their electric car being "the best" all they want, but the closer other electric cars become, the point Tesla tries to make becomes null.

How is it anticompetitive when other car giants like ford, are unwilling to build their own charging networks, while Tesla is using the profit it gains to expand their supercharger stations. To me, this sounds like Tesla won the competition.
And infact, letting other EVs use Teslas supercharger is the exact opposite of competition.
@@cocutou Then how is Apple anticompetitive ? Phone manufacturers like Samsung are not building their own app stores and are relying on google’s version. Apple did build their own App Store so by your theory, Apple also won is not anti competitive unlike what Elon says.
@@rajatverma3205 That is not what Elon said. Elon agrees that the 30% fees for in-app purchases are anticompetitive, not the app store itself.

There are differing beliefs behind these companies. I like Apple products, and I wish I had a Tesla tbh. However, I can admit that the prices of the phones are way too inflated.
Apple can just acquire Ford or GM and build their tech from that. They don’t need to “partner”. They can retain 100% control and profits.

Apple would not acquire an American car maker, they’re absolutely back of the pack in quality, efficiency, design, technology, manufacturing efficiency etc. That would be a huge liability and a very difficult ship to turn around. If they did it would be Korean brand. The only thing they’d get out of GM or Ford is massive government handouts even though much of what they produce is from other countries.

Most reliable car I’ve ever had? An American car - Saturn SL1. 221,000 miles in 8 yrs- only a key ignition switch and an alternator At 185K miles [It got totaled by an idiot]. Second best car? My Tesla - safest SUV on the planet, and I’ve only spent $2800 in 5 yrs - almost all in routine chk ups 25k, 50k and 100k and 140k. Extra work? One window regulator at $217 (at 140k miles). It’s been more reliable than my Toyota Avalon. Or my daughters Elantra $6k just this yr alone.
Go drive a Cadillac Escalade. I’m sure you’ll be surprised. I was. And I don’t even like Cadillacs.

One of the biggest reason Musk hates apple is apple is entering into EV market to give tesla competition .
Musk never really never had /still have a tough competition in EV market from traditional car manufacturers which were clueless and never took EV market seriously so tesla naturally had first movers advantage over traditional car manufacturers. In the case of apple
Considering the fact that apple is trillion dollars company with tons of cash reserves and has a reputation of delivering what it says it will deliver which obviously attract customers loyalty and apple has one of the biggest customers loyalty . out of all the points I mentioned above many points tesla lacks seriously tesla is not even that reliable or experienced that they would eventually take down any opponent, even Musk knew this he knows if apple enters the market they would seriously bring a tough competition to tesla so I won't be surprised if he would be pissed to see apple into car market
When the big companies enter a specific zone they mostly dominate due to their huge wealth like how Amazon did with aws in cloud services. However Tesla is also a trillion dollar company

I think this is the part where apple shines, they don’t take the manufacturing headache, instead they design and make the other manufacturing companies do their job and install their operating system in the end. A brilliant cost saving strategy indeed.

The Apple car will fail. Even hardcore Apple fanboys wouldn't buy one because every Apple customer at this point has had multiple bad experiences trying to get a phone, tablet or laptop repaired and getting robbed by the "genius bar" people. They'd probably make it so you couldn't open the hood without proprietary tools that only Apple has. "No sir, you can't just buy a new head lamp and fix it yourself. It's far too complicated for people to try. There's safety issues involved!"
Once Microsoft CEO laughed at iPhone when it was launched. I don’t see windows phones anywhere now.
@@likhithkvvr Difference is that Microsoft was dumb to laugh because they didn't even have a tiny part of the phone market pre-iphone. Nokia and Blackberry had the vast majority of market share, anything Microsoft had attempted failed so their opinion was worth shit. Tesla is currently the dominant player in the EV world and they very much in their rapid growth and innovation stage. All the pure EV companies have all the best engineers and the traditional manufacturers are scrambling to catch up. Apple might have a lot of cash but it'll be 4 years at the earliest until they start manufacturing their 1st model during which time the rest of the world will have taken huge chunks of the market. Cars are a very significant purchase for most people so they only get bought rarely. If Apple is seriously committed to making an EV it'll be a decade or two until they actually have a competitive product. They'll have to be happy taking huge losses until then which will create lots of executive board tension. There's also the issue that despite being a smartphone maker Apples battery tech is crap because they have intentionally made them bad to encourage replacing phones yearly. This and their terrible repair policies and con-artist like behavior at Apple stores does not bode well for consumer confidence in a device that could kill you if they build in obsolescence and it fails at the wrong time.

Your information is misleading regarding batteries, I think Apple will use different strategies for big things like car. So, we don’t know what they have up their sleeve until it comes out. Apple might not be the first to come up but they do make the best when they release something.
I can't imagine that Apple would build an FSD electric car, then just sell it to people!
I doubt Apple fanboys will have the option to buy one either way.. :)
@@likhithkvvr Apple doesn't make the best of anything. Sure their products look nice and are well marketed but "best" implies quality and reliability which Apple intentionally fails on so customers are forced to replace devices and accessories. The only reason they use the lightning port on phones for example is because it's a more flimsy connection so the cable connectors break more often which has skyrocketed sales of replacement charging cables. Same thing with earpods not having silicone tips so they fall out more easily and get lost or broken. People like the design and fall for the marketing lies then once they've got an accessory or subscription service they're stuck in the ecosystem.
INTERESTING input, thank you. BUT I missed some input in regard to APPLE being now used as a partner to Space-X (as you of course know, one of Elon Musk's other companies he's leading). So I imagine Musk appreciates Apple products as being "the best currently on the market" and uses them both at Tesla Showrooms around the world, both ipads and imacs, so as uses Apple products now for Space-X and space experiments, documentation and other operations IN actual ORBIT. BUT of course as Tesla specialised in making the world a better place, focusing especially in sustainable, clean and fair trade batteries, I think he just wants to point out that - with a bit less profit in mind - Apple could do a better job, sustainability wise.
The funny thing is apple & tesla are perfect for each other, their product aesthetics, ecosystem, even social hypeness are quite similar

Apple would be something if Steve Jobs is still alive. They haven't released a new product in years. I'm excited about all the stuff Tesla has yet to release, while the recent Apple announcement came and went.
I agree cook doesn't know what he is doing he don't have great innovation seems realasing the same iphone every year unlike jobs there something different every release.
You have to have a technological knowledge to understand apple innovation. For ordinary people, the big things through slow process is not understandable.

@@dondraper499 The M1 chip is one of the first generations of ARM based processor that finally broke free from RISC, and the reward in power economy is astounding, much like how Amazon is reaping the reward in their ARM based server lineup. Though I can't help but to think if there is any risks that Apple should be taking and leverage their enormous resources. Faster CPU or battery life seems to be the only new thing to talk about these days.

Great presentation thank you Cindy. Back in the day when I ran a business we investigated purchasing Apple products. We surmised that they were expensive difficult to maintain and inflexible. That opinion has not changed despite the cult surrounding their products especially the iPhone.

I used apple products for 6 years. When I bought xiaomi it opened my eyes. Iphone user forgets about true technical stuffs and value..
Xiaomi phones meanwhile offers 3x the value iphone does and it's also openly connects to other ecosystem. Finally bought my android

when apple says they ill release a new smartphone next year you can bet your bottom dollar that it it'll happen. when elon says tesla truck in will release in 2016 you can bet your bottom dollar it wont be ready til at least 2025. elon thinks making unnatainable promises = inovation

PS: Most companies which become "a monopoli" in some way, SLOW DOWN or even stand still with their innovation progress, as at this point it became unnecessary for increasing profit. You just start buying up or sue smaller comanies which could at some point overtake you or become some sort of competitor. (Examples: Microsoft, Adobe, Google, Oil and Gas conglomerates/its connected traditional car and truck manufacturers, nuclear power "organization", western pharma industry and lobby, big "teritorial" construction conglomerates, big chemical industries of the west producing fertilizer and pesticides, and and and...)

I was quite surprised to learn that Apple and SpaceX worked so closely together on the Inspiration4 flight.
Don't think anyone specifically asked Elon for permission about which brand of equipment to use, and I also think that Elon is very pragmatic, so banning a brand for petty reasons is less likely.

Apple needs to go to foreign automakers to build a car? The jobs will be outsourced to another Country & shouldn’t be included in Government subsidies. Apple has the money to play in the industry but that doesn’t mean they will succeed anyone soon.
