  • its been a fairly slow week I started off by learning how to sew guys shirts and it sometimes felt like I was cutting 100 parts for just one shirt.
its been unnaturally warm for January in Canada and I miss the cold but, I do love being able to go for walks and just getting outside, getting fresh air into my lungs and to relax.
thank you to everyone that gave me advice and ideas on how to help with my migraines and my badly cracked, dry hands I really appreciate it, I now have something to go by that will help me thank you so much.

Your vlogs are so beautiful and well done! The nature shots, the singing, everything its just so calming and peaceful and relaxing. I love the bible verses and quotes as well, they're always so uplifting. Plus I really appreciate the glimpse into the life of the Hutterites colonies. I never knew anything about your people until I happened upon this channel. I'd heard plenty about the Amish, but I knew nothing of the Hutterites.

Also if you have white cotton gloves you can apply cream and wear the gloves at night while sleeping. I will send you a jar if you would like to try it.

If you can get your hands on lanolin. No scent. Use that on your hands. At night put a healthy dose on your hands and cover with white cotton gloves. It works very well. I’d you can’t find lanolin in your store. Maybe you know a farmer? Ask them what they use on their cows udders. That helps immensely too. When I can’t find lanolin I use Corona Wool Fat. Hope any of those suggestions work. Always cover your hands with mittens or gloves when outside in the cold months. Thank you so much for the video.

I just found your channel, and I’m going to suggest the simplest thing to eat that you’ve never thought to make that you could easily make. It’s going to be the simplicity and flavor that you love most about this super short recipe.
Fried eggs over medium _in sesame oil_ atop white sticky jasmine rice.
You may or may not add soy sauce to the rice before placing the eggs on top. That’s entirely optional.
It’s something that’s so simple in scrumptious and it’s honestly something North Koreans can only dream of (true story I watched him, a defector, talking about that here on RUclips-how he wondered what that must taste like and he admitted he didn’t imagine it right at all because it was BETTER than his imagination could come up with when he tasted it in China), but I can’t eat eggs anymore so it’s not something I cook. Because they are fried eggs they make me think of breakfast, but because it’s savory-because of the sesame oil in the rice with the yolk, it really can be eaten at anytime of day or night lol.
It’s going to smell AMAZING frying those eggs in sesame oil btw 😆 Salt and pepper to taste in the pan like normal of course. I only used as much sesame oil as I needed to fry the eggs, not too much, but not too little. Just enough in place of butter. Any extra sesame oil that drips off the beautiful finished product (because it will be beautiful) ends up seasoning the rice beneath it. It’s best eaten in a bowl and I personally ate it with chopsticks because I can and poking the yolk open is so fun lol. But I’m sure you can eat it with a spoon or fork it doesn’t matter lol. I just don’t like to imo waste the stickiness of the sticky rice 🍚 2-3 fried eggs 🍳 over a serving of rice 🍚 depending upon hunger level. It’s really a poor man’s meal, but it doesn’t taste like it. 🍳🍳🍚
Just poke the yolk and let it run. Chop up the eggs and mix it into the rice. Mmmm. It really smells like you cooked a feast, but really it’s only fried eggs. 🥚🥚🍳🍳
And I don’t know how to sew, so...lol. I’m 33. When something gets ripped or has a hole it’s just time to toss it out lol. Don’t donate, discard. It’s mean to donate something ripped to someone else who also probably can’t sew. 😭
However I do still have some homemade 3 ingredient olive oil soaps from the year before last 😂 I have the prettiest soap moulds but I need a few more things before I take another crack at it again lol. I think it got too cold and created a slight almost ashy layer on the back. It’s purely cosmetic but... I know that means I did it not QUITE perfectly. I wasn’t expecting perfection, it was my first time, but perfection would’ve been cool at the same time. I have this one soap mould that looks like a rose, but if you look closer, it’s just this lady in a big hat and her knitted scarf around her neck is the leaves 🥰
I was going for purple but I didn’t have enough mica pigment and I got the Crayola crayon color Purple Mountain Majesty instead. Not the worst color but not my desired color either lol. I just wanted to make soap and see what came of it, and that’s what came of it. Pink-Mauve and Purple Mountain Majesty lol. Anyway you probably would’ve been totally fine with the color that I ended up with for your rose soaps lol. I didn’t have nearly enough hot pink pigment, so I ended up using pretty much just all of the warm pigments that I had 🙃 I scented my soaps lavender, but it’s such a mild scent. Next time (if there is a next time) I’ll dump in a LOT more scented oil 😅

Good morning Giselle from Pennsylvania! I have been binging your videos the last week or so, once one came up as a recommendation because I was watching a lot of food based content. We small scale homestead, with gardening and we also raise livestock for meat. We have Goats, Geese, and sometimes Chickens, and just recently bought a Calf to raise for beef. I loved watching your last of tomato harvest and processing, and was curious if your colony raises any livestock for meat? I did not see any evidence of such, but since you seem like such a practical group, I had to ask!
    Keep up the great content!

welcome I'm happy that you're here. we do actually have 4 calves and one sheep that is a little wacky I think it comes from living with calves it sometimes looks like she thinks she's a cow funny thing.
other then that we don't we are one of the few colonies that don't have their own chickens we have other colonies raising them for us personally we would love to have our own and we have empty barns that we could use but, at the moment they need a big cleanup before we can do anything with them.

I love watching your channel! I have a really good cookie recipe that is gluten free (use gluten free oats).
    PEANUT BUTTER OATMEAL COOKIES
    1 cup peanut butter
    1 cup brown sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 cup gf oat flour (I did my own in the food processor)
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/8 tsp. salt
    1/4 cup water
Cream peanut butter and brown sugar for 1 minute (it will be fluffy). Mix in vanilla. Combine dry ingredients and slowly add until well mixed. Add in water and mix until incorporated. Roll into 1 inch balls. Dredge in sugar and place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Use a fork to press down (and make cute cross cross design!). Bake at 350 degrees 8-10 minutes (light golden). Cool completely and remove from cookie sheet. Makes about 2 dozen cookies.

I used to sew shirts for my dad 40 years ago. Nobody taught me. I had to figure it out myself. I had a commercial pattern which had the instructions on it. He always wore the elbows out, so I used polyester material that didn't wear out. I made a pair of pants for him too out of the same polyester material but he wore them as underwear in winter under his overalls. He said it cut the wind. To my dad, sewing was a mystery and he seemed to think anybody who could sew was a genius. Same with his elderly sister, my aunt. She had something that she was using safety pins to hold together. After I sewed it for her, to her she seemed like anybody who could sew was a genius. It was actually nothing.
Shirts are actually the easiest thing to sew. For men, there is no fitting. For women's shirts, there are darts.
I don't sew anymore. Cutting wood is my thing now.
I made lots of soap in 1995. I had a recipe which was a specific ratio of fat, water, and lye. The lye was sodium hydroxide that I bought in a store.
Now I run water through wood ashes and use the lye water for washing clothes, due to I don't know how to make soap out of it. It does as good a job as detergent. It's supposed to clean, disinfect, and remove odors.
It is supposed to make a saponification chemical reaction otherwise it'll just be greasy water.

    PS
Covid caused us to modify our worship. We can’t go to church but my mom is an Anglican minister and we have been having in home services ... even my 100 year old auntie comes when she can. Where there’s a will ... there’s a way ....

Is the pattern you use for the dresses a commercial one? I‘ve been looking for a pattern like that for literal years now. :)

    • @gisellewaldner9406
      @gisellewaldner9406  3 года назад +1

no its a traditional dress that has been passed down from generations and just gets altered to fit every person specifically. so it might be bit difficult to find.

@@gisellewaldner9406 It totally reminds me of the dresses I used to wear as a child in the early nineties in Germany. Could you answer one or two questions about construction?
      A) is the bodice lined or just one layer of fabric?
      B) is the skirt piece just a rectangular piece of fabric that‘s been pleated or shaped otherwise? Are they box or knife pleats? they fall so nice and flat down the body, without much bulk!

Yes I’d love to have the pattern for the dress. I’m thinking I can make a prototype with some cheaper material so I can get the darts and such figured out. Giselle you could do a full tutorial on the dress cutting and sewing 😁

    Giselle; questions? Lol!
    A) Do the shirt patterns have different cutting line's, to adjust for the shirt sizes?
    B) do you have insulated dresses for winter?
I know you ware leggings for warmth.
But being that Yall live in the far North. I just don't think leggings are enough. Lol
    Just curious... lol.
Much Love and prayers for your wonderful community 💕🙏💪
    Thank you.

yes it comes with quite a few, we buy the pattern and then just trace the size that we need.
we do have dresses that are of thicker material for winter but, we have in recent years started buying leggings that were insulated it sometimes feels like thicker dresses are harder to find and with those leggier we don't need specific dresses for winter. blessings to you and yours.

Giselle, what does your tattoo on your wrist say? Considering your conservative lifestyle I'm surprised your parents would allow you to have it. Is it unusual for your community? I personally don't like tattoos so wondered what the policy for them is in your community?
