- Its been a week that has been filled with all kinds of random tasks and chores that I had to do. I tried to dye a jacket. I'm a first timer and very green when it comes to that and deciding to use such difficult fabric to dye was not a good idea but, that's ok thats how we learn.
and of course we had to make baked goods I'm starting to think it would not be a Giselle vlog without some sort of dessert.

Zucker pie (sugar pie)
1 cup cream
3/4 cup sugar
heaping spoon flour
cinnamon, sprinkle over top
mix, and pour into unbaked pie crust
bake at 300 for 35- 40 minutes.

I haven't used it yet, but Rit Dyemore is supposed to work well with synthetic fleece, which is what the jacket appears to be. Probably too late for this one, but perhaps for future projects. Normal Rit dyes seem to work better with cottons or linens (plant fibers), while Prochem or Jacquard Acid dyes work best for wools or natural animal fibers.

What happens if a couple has no children, especially as they get older? Or if they don’t have a daughter? You help your family so much!
nothing really if there have family on the colony then we usually help them out if they need it.

I make my cold brew iced tea the same way. I look around my pantry and add what ever sounds good at the time.
The snow is so beautiful! I’m watching this video, although I’ve seen it already. The weather is so very hot here in the southeastern United States in July so this video is refreshing!

So nice you can do laundry all at once and so close to your house! I have used public laundries but they are very costly. $1.25 a load to wash and a quarter for 10 minutes to dry. And many are not very clean places : (

I'm sorry you couldn't dye your jacket a dark color. I'm sure you don't have it anymore but if you do, take it apart and make the pieces your "pattern" for a new one with black material! You could reuse the zipper and possibly the snaps.

Jacket has color fast on it. Chemical so color won t run or fade. It s why your dye did not take.

Next time you need to remove a receptacle cover, please ask one of the handsome gents in the colony for a 'proper' screw driver. . . . the right tool and a little side conversation is always a good thing. ~ "I won't have to Cross Jordan Alone" is also a song we often sing at funerals, your ladies version was beautiful! Snow before Thanksgiving . . . . WOW, kind of early, not?!
Yes the snow is maybe a bit early but, I love it...I think it would have been easier to find a proper screwdriver it took me way to long with that thing. 🤣...alot of the time when we do work we sing it helps in making it more enjoyable. 😊
I've never seen that cleaner here in the US. I mostly use Thieves cleaner from Young Living.
Try fabric paint. You can use it for upholstery. It might work???

I was thinking "Wow, she has more dresses than I do!". I love the Hutterite dress style, it's simple but feminine and pretty and colorful. I want to build a similar wardrobe.
The yellow tea might be marigold, we say Wäscherei wich translate to laundry
can you use marigold? I didn't know that but, I think this one is calendula.
Hey, I would love to know if the dark colors are a rule only for the jackets or in general? Because I remember that red dress with white dots, everybody liked so much and it made me wonder... 🤔

Mostly just jackets, for our colony anyway, different colonies have different on looking at it some might frown a little on lighter colors.
Can you ask your mom to share the pattern for the slippers?

Laundry mat is what I call the wash house. I used one for years until I got mine at home. Do you make milk kefir as well? I’d like to try my hand at making that.
Does the jacket have to be a solid color? Could it be a patchwork? Possibly appliqué scrap material all over it and bits of ribbon and trim.
Geselle...try a color remover then your dye. It may take the color then.
Love your vlog and am curious about a few things. You mention that you are not allowed to wear anything but dark colors and yet at about the 10 minute mark, there is someone with a quite light aqua garment. I've noticed light blue in other videos and at one point, you were wearing something with black and hot pink squares. I'm a bit confused. Can you clarify a bit more? Also, I have dyed many garments and have found that it works best if you use a color remover first (even on whites or blacks when you are over-dying them. But that pink jacket was likely polyester so therefore the color wouldn't "take" At least not with Rit or Tintex dyes. Natural fibres work best. Acrylic gives color results that are nothing like the color you picked, but if you like to be surprised, they do turn out quite well. Also, another question - when you were canning pumpkin, I wondered why you didn't use a canning funnel - it keeps the jars much cleaner at the top and cuts down on wiping the edges. Thank you and keep up the good work.

What kind of fabric is it? If you can tell me what it's made of, I can probably make a recommendation as to the type of dye to use. If it's polyester, it is basically manufactured plastic byproduct and may be nearly impossible to dye. However, if it's cotton or animal fiber, it can be dyed with the correct dye.
Is your tattoo acceptable in your colony or do you have 2 have it removed before your Baptized.

I don’t Know if you still have that jacket but I wanted to give you some advice if you do still have it what you can do and I’ve done this before with things I bleach the clothing earth to get the color out of it and then I would put a dark color on so no one gave you that advice you still have the jacket it might work OK have a great day sweetie

no, not really but, we call it a vacation when we go visiting for a week as it is kind of like a getaway and is very relaxing.

Hi I've only watched a couple of your vlogs, so I apologize if you've answered this question before- Do you wear black head coverings by preference or is that the only color allowed?
It's the only color they are allowed to use in this community. In other communities, women have to wear black head scarves with white polkadots on it. They don't get to choose.
Where did you learn to edit, as you say no one comes from heaven knowing everything and life should be a constant learning exercise, but even so I envy you.
I found a random video editing app online and learned how to use it and you can tell by watching my first videos ummm how would I say a little embarrassing. :)

I don't actually have the pattern since I don't make them but, if you Google cloud 9 slippers it should lead you to them.

I decided to donate it to someone who needs it. it still looks nice even after my attempt to dye it so hopefully someone will get a good use out of it I don't need it. nah its supposed to be Ontario.

Would you share with us why you are not allowed to wear pink?
Dresses and other clothes its ok..its just jackets that are not. We try to look respectable with our outfits. Its part of of our uniform and regulations and it represents us in a way.

Sugar Pie(I did translate it from French.lol)
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
3/4 cup carnation milk
Mix with a fork even while pouring into a pie crust(I use unbaked). Bake in 350°F oven until the center is a little jiggly. Cool and serve

most ingredients are in the kitchen but, the ones that are pricy we buy ourselves. if you have the ingredients sure but, we mostly do dessert there is no need for meals when we have three in the kitchen per day.

I think the only thing you can successfully dye is cotton. Any other material won't take the dye! Too bad :(

its always the same way, always that one way although when its hot we do end up tying it back to keep it out of our face so there is that way.
Hutterisch language is a bit different like a dialect to 'Hochdeutsch' right? That Sprichwort in Hutterisch that you said I couldn't understand (Nobody comes from Heaven knowing everything)... I though that in Deutsch wäre: "Es ist noch kein Meister vom Himmel gefallen" ?
actually our language is a couple mixed together I know there is German, Russian, and a couple others that I can't think of at the moment but, I'll let you know when they come to mind. when I was away from home I worked with someone that spoke Russian there were times when she was thinking out loud and I could understand some of her words it was quite something.
@@gisellewaldner9406 Now it makes more sense. The Hutterites took their native language with them when they migrated from German spoken areas to Russia and then later on to USA/Canada. Everything gets influenced by other things around over the time so is it with language, names of places etc. It's very interesting. As much as I hated History subject in school I so much love it now.

@@gisellewaldner9406 we used to have a canning company 25 miles from us. My husband delivered their propane and would come home with 2 gallon buckets of dried pumpkin seeds every September.
