Can confirm, had a boyfriend who acussed me of cheating on him because I did not answer one of his messages imediately (I had left my phone charging on the counter and gone up to my brother’s apartment to borrow flour). He started pestering me with the argument that “everybody has their phone with them all the time, you should had answer es right away”. Since I do not have enough patience for that I just decided to cut things off and months later I find out he was the one who had been doing the nasty with other girls behind my back. So yeah, your mom is a wise, wise lady.

Its precisely the reason I don't say that I'll be a great partner, and I'm certain its one reason I've never dated (at 32) - this isn't the sort of thing you're supposed to advertise! If I hint at it, someone will pull me up on it (citing the above) and say that its nothing special and/or its something that a cheater/abuser would say. Just can't win.
At a time where the full window matters, not the empty room behind it, there's little wonder negative personality traits spread like wildfire... those who show them are charismatic enough to pull the blinds over someone's eyes and make them believe the narrative!

You don’t want someone who says they’re “a good partner”. You want someone who says they will try to be a good partner. Saying you will try usually implies and acknowledges that you’re not perfect and will probably mess up but you’re well intentioned and therefore willing to put effort into doing right by your partner when you do mess up.

Speaking from experience, it’s usually the loudest accusers who hide the fact that they’re the guilty ones who are incapable of owning up to their screw ups.
My ex used to "make jokes" about me cheating on him. Like, he'd call me on his way home and at some point, he'd say, "You better let Jody know I'm almost there. He needs to finish and get out." Jody being the name people in prison or military calls a man who's banging his woman while he's away. Like I said, he's my ex, and I'm sure you can guess with 100% accuracy why we aren't together anymore.

"i was such an angel" was weird but when he said "I took care of every aspect of her life" was the moment I thought that this guy is an unaware narcissist. He believes that what he's doing is correct behavior for a boyfriend, he really thinks he's A Nice Guy™ and that he should have access to "every aspect of her life" as he put it. Usually I read through the comments first, but I don’t have time today; so here goes
I found her response to be rather refreshing actually. Whether or not you choose to believe her side of the story, admittedly her presentation was well-articulated. Rather than being out here in these streets acting like a raving lunatic as so many people do nowadays. She displayed a level of self-awareness, self-restraint, AND MATURITY that I haven’t witnessed in a really long time. It would have been so much easier for her to act out, slashing tires, etc. like so many others. She has my respect for her self-control as well as openly admitting she made a huge error in judgement by ignoring the many warnings regarding his habitual cheating (and lying too, apparently😮). I’m glad she was able to tell her side of things to clear the air. Hopefully, she’ll stick to her resolve to never date him again, not become a rebounder chick and glutton for his abuse. #enoughalready

That last one... when my sister was pregnant she had a craving for tomato PASTE - not sauce and in those days - 40 years ago - it came in small tin cans that you had to use a can opener on. She used to keep them in the fridge and one day she got one out, about the size of a small can of cat food, put the can opener to the top and started to open it and it EXPLODED!!!!!
She had HAD white walls and floor in her kitchen and even after we cleaned it up, we could not get the pink stain out and had to repaint the roof and the untiled parts of the walls. It shot up into the air, hit the ceiling and sprayed about 15 to 20 feet in all directions including all over her. My mum got a panicked call from her and we drove right over and got there about 10 mins after it happened. It looked like a scene from a slasher film! The tin with the can opener still attached was sitting innocently on the bench in the middle of the carnage..... I still giggle about it today!!

Just to add one thing: we need to stop saying we are dumb for being exploited. Abusers are predators that form themselves into whatever they need to be to prey on you. You are amazing no matter what, don't ever dim your light by judging yourself for their actions. If you take the responsibility, you give them exactly what they want so they can escape theirs. You are not dumb, you are good, and that's part of your beauty. So, let's learn grom it without demeaning ourselves in the process, we can get wiser without making ourselves smaller bc of society's bs uninformed judgement. Just shine and be you ❤️

One of my sisters started saying I was hitting her child I helped raise for its first five years of its life before she decided to be a mom. Went to Tik Tok. Apparently I’m evil for doing so. Funny story about the tomato sauce, when my cousin was babysitting me (I'm like 6 so she's like 11 or 12, this is the 90's) we decide to make a big ol' spag dinner for after my mom gets home so she won't have to cook after work. It's the 90's so it wasn't even weird for us to have like mostly unsupervised fire at that age lol so we're browning the hamburger and go to crack a can of spaghetti sauce and as soon as she pierced the can with the opner THE CAN EXPLODED IN OUR FACES AND SENT SAUCE TO EVERY FAR RECHING CORNER OF OUR APARTMENTS KITCHEN. All over the cream walls, all over the cheap linoleum (the only kindness paid to us by this can of murder sauce), but mostly... all over the flat, white, popcorn ceiling. We lived in a super cheap apt, so the kitchen was just a real small galley style, which kept it pretty contained, but also kept it pretty concentrated. By the time my mom walked in about a half hour or so later, we were desperately trying to clean it up, still cooking spaghetti sauce from a new can, we'd completely forgot to start noodles, and were still absolutely COVERED in spaghetti sauce. She wanted to be mad, and she was. Initially. Until she thought my couin was lying about the exploding spag sauce, and then she saw the can in the trash. So she had been mad, but now she couldn't stop laughing. She changed into cleaning clothes, got us washed up while she made the noodles, and we had a good laugh with way too much parmesan cheese and wet hair for dinner. And we got to paint the kitchen ceiling the next weekend 😂

Oh god the burnt popcorn. Memory unlocked. My friends and I went on a 5-day trip, it was the summer, we were enjoying the pool, and one of my friends was like "we should make some popcorn", so the two of us popped the bag in the microwave and went back outside until it was done. We had a timer on my phone. Another friend went inside before the timer was up and he said "guys, it smells like burnt in here". I swear my friend and I looked at each other in perfect sync and went "THE POPCORN". It smelled so bad in there, and it was so hard to get rid of it too.
