Great review as usual
Would it work with Canon 90d?
just a small note ... it will not complete 11 h if it is not balanced properly
Hi Max, hi Guys!
I would need a little help. I just bought my Ronin-SC, and I experienced a little, very soft, very quiet noise from the motors. Before I used Zhiyun Crane Plus, and I did not hear anything, but I haven't used any Ronin gimbals before, so that is why I am asking if it is normal. (I heared it only when i was alone in a room, and only if i put my ears close to the motors.) Have you expericenced anything like that?
Thank you very much in advance!
Hi
*orders the Ronin SC 5 mins ago* - happy

*watches video* - happy again
how much u paid for the SC?
@@007rockford I paid £241 for it because it was on sale x
@@Shaniamoonemalle okay...I bought yesterday for $279.. not bad
@@007rockford thats great!!
I was considering buying it but I want the crane 2s so bad!
For sure my favorite gimbal ever Max! I shoot with light weight primes like 18mm batís or 24mm gm and it handles it so smooth. App works great. In love with it. Thanks for the recommendation Max
Great review Max. I am glad you held onto so you had a very good point of reference on the changes DJI made. I have been renting one and it is quite good. Love the way it breaks apart.
Like the update to the taking head setting. Nice work!
Max, this is a profoundly helpful vid for this kid. Thanks ever so much! Super incisive, fair, honest. 💛
Really helpful review Max. The tip on tweaking the app was geat. Thanks.
Please do a comparison to the MozaAircross 2. Tanks for the informative reviews!
can't wait for the smallrig plate myself and also the handle they made, they have multiple extra things in design ...

Actually the content before is interesting too, especially for those who haven't purchased one yet.
Thanks man this dude rambles more than a teenage girl
Thanks
Thanks
Thanks! I just got it yesterday. Helpful info!
Been sub to Max Tech forever and just found this when looking at the newly price dropped SC. Subbed here too now.
Thank you. Very helpful. For me,, I will likely just go with s so as not to Dicker with weights and compromise. Got a gmaster 16-35 and hope to add the 24-70
Great review as always, thanks for sharing 👍👍
super thanks for your Honest review Max!
Thanks for the video! I use this as you mentioned with the popular combo (A7III and Tamron 28-75). I did a whole day wedding but I turned it on and off all the time and had no issue with the battery. I did noticed that the motors do get warm. But all in all it is a great tool to have and especially without the tripod extension it does not add a lot of weight in the camera bag.
Awesome intro tho
How you zoom while filming?
@@sotosnik I use my feet :)
Thanks for the vid! It helps me choosing a gimbal for my camera setup :)
Hey max awesome video! Always a pleasure getting great information from you. But I’m curious where did you buy the wood background from ! Love the set up !
So my wife just surprised me with this Gimbal so Im doing my research on it now and I came across your video. I wana thank you for your insights on this ronin as you went in to full detail about your experience with this device. My question to you now is, this video is almost a year old and I want to know if you still use it?
bought it one year ago on the base of your video....
zero regrets.
plus with the follow function you might get some really cool shot around the subject even at very shallow DpF.
Thanks for an insightful review! Whenever new gear comes out, there are dozens of "reviews" talking about how it's fantastic and you should buy it right now from the link below. You're one of very few reviewers who give an honest assessment and talk about some of the drawbacks.
Do you use the tracking or Force Mobile features of the Ronin SC? I'd love to see a review of those.
Great job Max. You bring out all great points about this product in your review and I really appreciate the info. I just got mine yesterday and I'm looking forward of trying it out!
cool review, simple and easy to undertand
Another great video! Thanks
Thanks for the review,
More power? Plug the gimbal to a battery bank, I use an omnicharge 20k mah, so I can shoot for two entire days whilst keeping my camera topped off. It can do this cause of pass through
You can use a zoom focus but this draws too much power and it disables the focus wheel.
Thanks for the video,
Keep up the good work.
Very informative video! Thanks!
Great review
Mine arrived just yesterday. Only managed to spend a few minutes testing it but so far it looks quite promising. Well i'm using a6300 with SEL3518 and kit lens 16-55 (for wider shots) so i'm pretty sure i won't really encounter that much issues since my setup is compact and light.
Great review. I tried to mate this gimbal to my Fuji and it was tooooo light. Looking into the A73.
Max great review!!
Any recommendations for a gimbal which can be remotely controlled and take a Sony 600GM and camera?
I returned The Ronin SC for my Sony A III because it just was too weak to work with the focus motor and any zoom lens. The Ronin S is heavier, but not by much and it does a way better job with full range of motion. I bought this and am very happy
Bought the SC few months ago and after the update I used it in a wedding for about 10 hours... Used it with the sony a6300 and the sigma 16mm f/1.4... Perfectly balanced the battery lasted the whole the day!!
I have the a6300 and sigma 16mm, but do you think the SC would meet my needs if I wanted to have an external monitor and use my Rode VMP+ ?
@@prodviducer Small Rig has plenty of accessories... Mounting plates, handles and clamps can be used to attach small led lights to mics or monitors. Check them out!!
Is this a good gimbal for weddings? I’ve been planning on buying it soon and I hope to use it in my near future to do wedding videography. I’ve heard mixed opinions on if it’s good for weddings or not :/
please help us decide between the SC and the moza aircross 2
Important question: where do get those cool industrial decorative bulbs behind your couch??
Great review,I also have problem with using Ronin SC with Nikon Z6ii with 24-70 mm lens. The eye cup is touching at the back and I tried really hard to avoid it.I have noticed lots of people’s in RUclips using it with Nikon Z6ii and no one ever mentioned about this problem.I did the calibration and everything is excellent but still it touches the eyecup.
It’s quiet annoying
I almost bought one but due to the payload capacity and the limitations I'm glad I stuck with the Ronin S.
Yep good decision i got the S and the only problem with it was the force mobile wasnt available but not both that and active track are
Great points thanks it’s down to 300 now
Nice. My crane 2 doesn't work properly until i had attach follow focus on it as counterweight.
Help! Great Video. Thank you.
Nice video! Could you please upload setting specs when you have the Sony a7iii and the Tamron 28-75 please. Thank you!
Great information. I'm torn between the Ronin SC and Weebill S, and leaning toward the Weebill since it's more compatible with my camera. Nice video.
Weebill S is the way to go for heavy setup. sold my Ronin SC and Buying Weebil S
Do you have any setups for the Sony a6400 I have the feeling that my gimbal is not working properly
What are the benefits of the SC Pro?
I just got a used one from adorama for only $200! I’m very excited to try it out!
What do you think between ronin sc and crane plus? I have a LUmix g85 and I use a 15mm lens and sometimes the kit 12-60
Man! I was thinking on buying the Ronin S, but since the a6600 was launched + this video, I think I going to get the SC. Thanks from Venezuela. Best regards!
I'm actually very inclined to have this combo as well, a6600, tamron 17-28 and 24-75 f2.8 plus Ronin SC, sounds like a no brainer.
Michelet Diez I agree, for me the a6000 is a real game changer, I was thinking in the A7III (I know it is superior) among other things because of the battery, BUT now the smaller a6000 has the same battery, it is smaller, cheaper and for many projects it has the quality needed
Kake Garcia correct, and for me (I have my channel and make my own videos) a flip screen is a selling point, resin why the only full frame I could consider is the EOS R (which I would love to have but it is out of my budget with the lens I want!) 😁
Hi Max - great video - I've been looking at a Ronin SC for my Fuji X-T4 and 16-55 lens. I'm currently using an OM4 and iPhone XR for car dealer videos, but I'm underwhelmed but the lack of range of motion of the OM4 and the frequent shakes despite the much-hyped new motors and magnetic mount.
Should I use a smaller, lighter (maybe prime) lens for the Fuji for video with the Ronin SC, or would I be OK with the X-T4 (526 grams / 1.16 lbs) and the 16-55 (655 grams / 1.44 lbs)?
Thanks for any advice.
Hello Max, thank you so much for this truly good review! I have just one question : do you recommend to buy the combo version? Do you really need to focus while you use this gimbal? I didn't see a combo version on you video clip... Thank you in advance!! Alex
If I put the A7 III in a cage and balance it vertically with a 50mm, will the gimbal be able to balance?
I'm thinking about getting this. I have a Sony A7iii with a Zeiss 25mm and Sigma Art 50mm. I'm pretty sure my Zeiss would work perfectly fine on this gimble, but not too sure about the Sigma one which weighs like 815 grams. Any idea if it would work?
The studio light is perfect.
Hi, Max. Thanks for your honest review. I would like to ask you whether there is an available gimble with the good service of this Ronin SC, that can fit a videocamera (mine is a Panasonic HC-X929EG-K)? I really look forward to an affirmative answer....! Thanks so much. Ana.
Have you tried 16-35mm? Or any wide angle?
Great footage.
HI Max, Thanks for this review, really helpful. I used the SC at a wedding for the first time last week. It was a destination wedding in France (I’m in UK) so I was packing light for travel. I loved it but the battery died half way through the day (3 hours after start using it not solid use). I’m not sure if it was the fact that it was the first charge but I had not used it loads and right in the middle of the speeches it just stopped. I charged for a little while and then it ran well for the rest of the day (way more time). I think I will send back for a replacement to make sure I did not get a dud battery. IDIOT ALERT: Something for people to watch at weddings is..... I loved the locking mech for the arms and set it down with 2 of them locked while waiting for the first dance to keep it safe. As normal the couple & DJ gave me no warning and there was a rush to get ready for the dance.... yes you guessed it, I forgot to release the locks. (After the battery issue BTW). The footage is still usable actually if I cut of some of the sharp jolts in post... who knew only one access almost worked.. :-) Just a pointer for new users.... remember to take locks off.. :-) I loved using it and the active track was amazing for the couples session. Used A73 & 16-35/18-105 F4s
How do you zoom with 18-105 while filming with Ronin?
Fotorama Ier set the focus motor on the zoom ring rather than the focus ring. I never use manual focus on a gimbal anyway.
Is this a good gimbal for weddings? I’ve been planning on buying it soon and I hope to use it in my near future to do wedding videography. I’ve heard mixed opinions on if it’s good for weddings or not :/
can i balance a7III with 28 - 70 mm Zoom Lens perfectly? please suggest some a7III lens which supports rohin sc
I really like this gimbal, never used any other (earlier i was using "analog" steady cams), but quickly became friends with this little thing.
BUT, did anyone managed to get timelapse and panorama photos with Sony A7III? I've tried everything (I think), and it doesn't work. Gimbal doesnt trigger any photos. :( Help?
Really great review, just got mine a few weeks ago and will use it exploring China 🤗
Great video.
Does sony a6000 and sigma 30mm works on it or is it front heavy?
Hey Max, do you think this Ronin SC would balance with a A7iii and the Sony 24-105 F4 OSS?
You should compare it to the new Weebill S if you ever get the chance.
I know that this Gimbal is designed for Mirrorless & DSLR but would it work with a camcorder such as the Sony AX100? I have not been able to get an answer to this anywhere.
After 5 reviews , finally somebody is talking to the point 👍👍👍
I'm torn between the sc and moza aircross 2
I often feel the DJI apply motors weaker than Zhiyun. This seems confirmed from your experiences and I find it very obvious on mobile gimbals. Also tried the new mobile Osmo gimbal in Apple store and don’t like it. I think I’d better focus getting Zhiyun ranges for all my cams.
Hey Max, i tried balancing the 28-75 tamron with a7iii and it balances until i started to walk and it shakes like it has spasm. Did you encounter this? In addition, does your gimbal gets crazy too when you zoom in and out throwing the gimbal off balance?
try it with the L Bracket mount!! i want to know how does it perform vertically
Would you recommend this over the weevil s? I’ve never had a gimbal and it’s mostly for vlogging. I have a Sony a6600 with the 16-55 lens and the 18-135 lens I also have the sigma 16mm f1.4
2krazyketos did you decide? cuz even im confused between the two
i got the issue with the horizon go unbalanced! even after the firmware update, anybody has the fix for this? great video by the way!
We use the original Ronin-S with the Sony a7III every week, it’s an amazing setup to get cinematic footage, but it’s indeed quite heavy for all day works.
Do you think it’s worth it getting this smaller Ronin-SC as well, if it is really noticeably lighter?
Greetings from Lisbon
If you will have both - then yeah.
But do not trade up Ronin S for Ronin SC. With your full frame camera it is not worth it.
If you had any sony a6xxx camera then it would be better choice to go with SC.
If it feels heavy to work full day try buying handle bar for twohanded use or just take more breaks or even work out more so it becomes easy weight hehe :DD
Hey Max,
thanks for the video!
Did anyone here try to balance Sigma 50mm 1,4 E-mount with Sony A7iii (it's ~1,6kg) ?
What's the point of leaving the gimbal ON the whole time?
thank you... Well done.
hi! I have the Sony A7sii and a Tamron 28-75. do you think the SC can work with that?
hello sir.. can u make dji ronin sc tutorial how to shoot.. example.. can put a handphone at the gimbal or put at camera ?
My current setup is the Sony A7III + Tamron 28-75 and now the 17-28, I currently have the Zhiyun Crane v2 (Not the Crane 2) and I don't have any issues with either those lenses and the gimbal is like 200g lighter than the Ronin SC. I was even using before getting the Tamron 17-28 the Canon 16-35 f4 with the Sigma MC11 adapter and it was actually working, just hitting the back of the gimbal like with your Tamron 28-75, but I was actually surprise on how much weight this Zhiyun can take for how light it is. I am travel youtuber and if I can save 100g on the backpack you can really be thankful of it after hiking around for 2 hours in the mountains with heavy equipment. So I would stay for the moment with the Zhiyun even though I like the new tech features from the Ronin-SC. Just in case you are interested, about to upload some field testing of the new Tamron 17-28 in Frankfurt ;) Cheers from Germany!
If you happy do not switch.
Crane v2 is amazing and handles a lot of weight. Compared to Ronin SC it lacks features and is not that comfy but definitely gets the job done!
And for the future with them camera you should get Ronin S not SC (if you ever thing about switching to DJI)
Max, can you take advantage of Sonys clear image zoom with the Ronin sc? That's my favorite reason why I keep using zhiyun gimbals.Great work as always Max!
i just got a SC and traded in a Zhiyun Crane V2 .. im happier now
Always wanted to buy gimbal, but with that price, how last long until the motor wear out?
thanks for your review. will the Nikon Z6 & FTZ adapter fit into the Ronin SC?
What about adding the double handle grip? You know that grip that allows you to use both hands.
8:43. You talk about the a7iii with the tamron 28-75. Daaaang. That’s exactly what I use. That might be a dealbreaker for me. I used my buddy’s sc last week with an a6500 and a 24 to 105 and was sold. This has me 2nd guessing now.
hey Dustin bro, I got an SC with Sony A6400 plus 18-105mm f/4 G lens and no problem, only needed to apply the raiser underneath the cam body 😊 honestly I prefer to feel some real weight instead of lightweight so I can really feel the whole set and smooth those movements 😉 hope I could help ya 🙃
Thanks for sharing this. I was getting frustrated with some of these same things on my Ronin-SC and wondered if I had made the wrong choice. I'll try that advanced calibration to see if it fixes my horizon issues.
Hey mate, I've been having the same issue with the horizons being off. Has the advanced calibration fixed it for you?
@@ainaras33 yes! It sure has - works perfectly for me now! Cheers!
Can you mount just a phone to this gimble if you don’t want to mount your camera? Like, is there an accessory to do this? Probably not but just wondering? Thx 😊
hello. do you know how can I turn off the motor pause? it don't last 1 minute
Can I use this remote Control from application without connecting camera to Ronin via cable?
I tried a lot to putt lens Sony 24-105 f4 , but it’s heavy you don’t have anything what can I do ? Thank you
The thing that really annoys me with the ronin sc is that when you slide your camera back to balance it, the roll axis hits it which makes it unusable, why couldn't they just added a bit more of a length?
When I double click the front button to recenter the gimbal, it is off aligned to the left. Does anyone know how to fix this. I have tried recalibrating several time but it does not fix the issue. Please help.
i have canon eos R with 24-105 RF F4 . the view finder stuck to ronin sc . and in the dji website they said ronin sc is compatible with R & 24 - 105 !!!
Hi there. If I want to use manual focus mostly, is it better to buy ronnin s to use follow focus by cable or ronin sc and buy external motor? I heard about issues with ronin s follow focus. I have sony a7iii plus grip plus 16-35 f4 and 50mm 1.8
Hi max I got Fuji xt20 which gimbal is suitable for my camera thanks
I bought it and...hmmm...i can't seem to walk straight and hold it straight for a long time even with the trigger held down. must be user error but its annoying.
Urgent help wanted from fellow users. Just bought a new RONIN SC. The main unit (not the battery grip) has a large silver lock lever right, which is used to lock the battery grip onto the main unit, that lock when used as intended does not go and CLICK at the end or anything. It just only becomes slightly tighter, it does its job but there's no tactile click. Have i got a faulty lock or this is how it behaves normally ? I even tried operating the lock without the battery grip and observed the small silver locking mechanism can hardly be seen moving even when the lock lever is moved to lock and unlock positions. Can someone confirm ? Thanks
PLEASE RESPOND: I have a Sony A7rii with a Sony GM 24-70mm. Front heavy. Looking at buying the new mounting plate, but I don't know how many counterweights I should buy with it. Can you please help me figure out the best option here. Thank you!!!
How does it do with a Sigma 35mm art?
Макис, подскажи влезел ли GH5 по размерам в этот стаб?
Which Ronin S or Ronin SC would be best in filmmaking and which is always good?
