They just released the info on it. Suppose to be September 2019 it is available. Specs look pretty sweet.
I think why this was released is because the Ronin S is mostly supposed to replace the Ronin M for anyone who is a single man run and gun DSLR shooter and this one is just for smaller mirrorless cameras and a OP phone gimbal at a slightly cheaper price point for it to be more accessible to the masses.
LITTLE TIP: There is actually a MODE which allow you to have this two modes you mention as a downside (flashlight and under sling mode). You have to only hold the trigger and as you holding then you can move your camera whatever angle you want.
I like this gimbal a lot and I have to buy this gimbal for my Sony Alpha a6300.
But overall nice sum up Matti, I enjoy this video and your thoughts on this gimbal. Keep going and film more videos like ths. :)
Amazeballs, would love to have a more portable gimbal! The current Ronin S is damn heavy, glad i worked out for 13 years before becoming a content creator.

Matti, yes the DJI Ronin SC has the ability do the fleshlight mode and underslung mode out of the box. However your EOS-R setup was too big for the Ronin SC that's why the cradle is too far back and hits the axis.
Fleshlight.. If you're on a phone that may mean that word is known in your keyboard app 😉
Yeah nobody mentions that what you just said in any of the videos. I just bought this thing in my Canon EOS R is way too big with anything but a small prime lens. The eyepiece hits the back of the gimbal just like you said. Time to keep shopping

I started shooting with a Sony A6300. I think this is the ideal equipment for my filming. Dji always getting over!
Regarding which camera you can use with the Ronin SC, here is my experience:
The camera doesn't really matter, what matter is the lens, especially the length of the length, not so much the weight (unless camera plus lens is more than 2KG, which is rare).
As a guideline, any DSLR or mirror less is fine if used with a prime lens. Most zooms lenses don't work, even with a light weight camera.
As an example: my Nikon D850 (bulky DSLR) works with all my prime lenses (and I own many).
My Panny DH4 (light mirror less) doesn't work with the Metabone and the Sigma 16-35

Huge fan of the Ronin-S, so I was quite interested to see what improvements they might have made. I’ve been looking for a light more travel friendly Gimbal, especially as my setup is the Sony a6500 so the Ronin-S is a little overkill at times. Might try it out.

I just picked one up today. For use with Canon M50 doing some automotive video work. Very excited.
Sure it's a bit shaky with the heavy RF 24-105, but for running with an underslung gimbal and camera like that, it's nothing a bit of warp stabilizer can't take care of.
just ordered one. can't wait to use this with my Sony a7iii. shooting a music video in about two weeks and I'm stoked to practice up beforehand and get some badass shots!

DJI really listens to customers and cares about the design a lot which is great! This looks to be a fantastic option to pair with most newer DSLR cameras, as long as the lenses you use aren't too big.
I just bought a Ronin SC and it arrived yesterday. Today it completely stopped working. The app cant find it, the motors do nothing with the joystick. Totally shut out. Anyone have this issue. DJI's customer service is not good and Amazon is not taking responsibility saying it was purchased from a third party. Any help, anyone???

I do the flip upside down thing all the time with Ronin-S. I found this is the fastest way to do a low mode in run and gun situation. Also this way won't tangled the monitor cable

I got my Ronin-S 6 weeks ago, going to see if I can return it because lighter and axis locking is exactly what I wanted but the Zhiyun Weebill Lab didn't work too good with my A6300 for some reason so I returned it and got the Ronin-S.
I've had the Ronin-S for a few months now. Won't be switching as the camera+video mic won't fit on the SC comfortably. I like that the S has some weight capacity left so that the balancing doesn't have to be as precise when i'm swapping lenses. I just can't lose all that functionality for just 750 grams less weight. so I guess that i'll just have to deal with the weight.
In your case I woudn't make the swap either. Your set up without a microphone or anything else would be 1455 grams. With the S that would be 3.3 KG and with the SC 2.6. I don't think that will make the difference you are looking for. The most straining thing is the weird angle you have to hold the gimbal, it put's a lot of strain on your back, that doesn't change with the SC. Best solution is would be a gimbal vest, but I have seen cheaper solutions that give you a strap between the controls and the motors.
The video looks great , but that DJI ronin-SC is the greatest size to performance gimbal.

Great review. I too have the standard Ronin-s and was thinking of downgrading for the size and weight. You’re review helped me decide to stick with the Ronin-S even though it’s a damn beast.

I just got it from the DJI flagship store in Seoul, Korea! I tested the gimbal and it is a beast!

I'm looking at getting into some video work, photographer and I just wanna do short videos and I picked up one of these for a couple hundred bucks in Australia PRETTYMUCH new in the box so I'm stoked that this is good. I didn't do a lot of research I just saw that it was a DJI product and and I figured that it would be good
i literally JUST got myself the Ronin-S (coming from an M) and I use it with a G-H9 and now... this one comes out :(( looks sexy as hell!!! But my Ronin-S handles the just just great. thanks for the review Matti
@RW Well good news is that while it is lighter, locks in place and has the same battery, WE can put more stuff on it - if it's ever needed. Let's see that as a positive side :D
Good thing that I watched your video I was getting ready to return my ROBIN S that I Purchased last week , but when you mention the weight capacity that changed everything, I have a 6D MKII with a 16-35mm and a 24-70mm.
The SC looks like something that would work on a smaller camera, like my 200D.

My sense is this little one would be good for Millers cameras small cameras even a lot of the cameras are going smaller now I've got a Fujifilm XT5 which is really light and small so I think this will be fantastic. It arrived yesterday I haven't even unboxed it yet ... But I'm looking forward to shooting some content

I got so excited but what I’m hearing is that my 6D Mark II with the battery grip is probably not the best fit for the SC 😂
i used the ronin S with my 6D with battery grip + Small HD focus + heavy f2.8 L lens and nd filters and it managed to keep it stable, but i had to tweak the settings a lot because when it tilts more than about 35 degrees, it loses controll and smashes my camera with its lens against the ronin :/

@@jarodlovekamp7955 you're welcome, and yess i love the fullframe canon cameras too, the colors they produce for photo's are just crazy and super accurate, for video they're not the best for specs but they still get the job done for most situations
At 1.1 KG is only 40.5% lighter ... That being said let me ask you a question can a gimbal follow something Like a TOY R/C airplane or a bird as it fly's over your head?

The Weebill is much better for travelling and is made even better once you purchase the quick release tripod/handle attachments. I use my A7III + 16 - 35 f4 lens + Variable ND filter which isn't the lightest setup yet haven't had any problems with balance or weight.

Give the Ronin S the axis locks, the marker for the plate and the non sliding adjustments. Those are the only pros to me.
Was thinking about buying a gimbal for my canon m50. Was still debating if it was worth it. I guess this gimbal makes all the difference, I'll get this one I think!
I really really REALLY wanted to like this new gimbal. So much so, I bought it inspite of being perfectly happy with the "S"... After setting up my A7R3 mirrorless and it's 24-70GM lens, it was immediately apparent that there would be problems. The eyepiece hits the gimbal arm so significantly that the general recommendation is to remove it. Then, when the tilt arm is adjusted for height, the set screw underneath hits a different arm. No fix for that and it means the underslung mode is unuseable... Balancing is virtually impossible once the tilt arm is raised to proper height for the camera and to get the tilt to balance with the 24-70, I had to use only one screw to hold the camera to the slider plate so it could be adjusted even further back.
As I say, I REALLY wanted to like this product but they (DJI and retailers) neglect to mention the mirrorless aspect is for the SMALL mirrorless along with mostly pancake-type lenses...
I want this so badly but I’d have to buy new lenses for it to support and get full use from it. I’m tired of lugging my ronin S up mountains and in extreme heat.
You can definitely do inverted mode on the Ronin-S although I just had to put it on standby, flip it, then turn it back on.
hey can you speak a little to the use case and upsides of inverting the sc other than low angle shots?

Lol the Ronin - SC is great but put an front heavy lens on it and you will run into the trouble that you cannot tilt it properly anymore the back of your camera always touches the back motor...
Will a Canon 200d + canon 10-18mm go well on the dji ronin sc? Also what are your thought about 10-18mm lens for gimbal cinematic shots?

Love my Ronin-S, but it's really heavy und bulky for a long shoot. And the non-locking-axis are a oain. That's why I added a Weebill lab - not as good, but its size is great. Ronin CS would have been an alternative.
I also have the Weebill Lab for my a6500 but yet to use it. Do you think this better than Webill?
