Is it Possible to Beat Mario Odyssey Only Using Captures?

- I had a significant part in coming up with this challenge run when the game first came out, so this run is very important to me. While many people have helped stretch this category to its limits, not many people have actually taken the challenge on. And I think that's primarily due to most people not knowing too much about it. I wanted to make this video to hopefully bring attention to it (even if only to my 30 subscribers lol) because I think this run has so much to offer. And even if you're not of fan of Mario Odyssey, I hope you still enjoyed the video, because this video is definitely the one I've put the most effort into so far.

You don't need to collect the multi moon in metro you can just perform a crc so you don't have to fight him.
You would still need to get 3 more moons in place of those three in order to leave the kingdom. And there would be only 7 moons to get in captures available in morning metro, since the bunny moon isn’t unlocked until you get peace. So in actuality, that would end up adding a mario moon to the counter. I wish that idea worked but sadly it’s of no use in this run. But thanks for trying!

I’m not 100% sure, but you may be able to reduce the number of Mario moons in cascade using the min-caps CRC trick.
This idea has come up multiple times but we’ve decided that even if it would save a mario moon in cascade, since the multi moon is automatically given to mario at the end of the game anyway, we’d actually end up with even more mario moons than if we just did cascade the normal way

I think you could beat it with less mario moons, by doing the jump rope glitch you could collect the 2 moons as the letter?
The letters aren’t unlocked until after you beat the game. So we can get those moons in the post game, but sadly we can’t on our first visit

He found out how to get it the day after I uploaded this haha. But luckily it’s only possible on 1.0, and I did this run on 1.3. So 27 is still the lowest number on the latest version.

why did you not use a CRC 3:20
In cascade u can get the multimoon with a chainchomp on 1.0 its called a chainlink glitch or something where u manipulate 2 chain chomps and 1 goes slowly flying, then u fight the boss in 1-2 minutes, when the chain chomp reaches the arena CAPTURE AND JUMP.

Couldn't u technically safe one moon in cascade by doing the min caps route, therefore skipping the boss, then collecting the 2D and island moon normally but collecting the moon in the cage next to the 3 chain chomps with the trex or is that impossible?
When we were theorizing that idea actually came up. If we could manage to get the chest moon, and the moon you’re referring to with the T-rex, then that would save one mario moon. Since we’d only be grabbing the 2D moon and the island one with mario. But no one is sure if those are actually possible to get haha. If those are proven though, you’re right and the mario moon count for 1.3 would drop down to 26!
@@Dosle22 that is correct actually, cuz you can do a crc or do the cappy on top of island strat in 1.3 and I’ve obtained the rest in 1.3 so it can save a Mario moon
If you’ve gotten both the chest moon, and the moon behind the breakable rock with a T-Rex, then it does in fact save a mario moon. If you got them, make sure to send the clips so we have definitive proof that they’re possible.

Thank you! And it was the minimum at the time of making the video. The minimum was dropped down to 24, but only on the 1.0 version of the game. So 27 is still the minimum on 1.3, which is what I play on

The multi moon in cascade can be gotten with a chain chomp. But I’ll give a more in depth explanation in the next video, which is finally now in production

how does 1.0 save mario moons?
You can watch the second video where I explain it better, but essentially there’s a glitch in 1.0 that allows the Cascade Multi Moon to be gotten. And that glitch was patched out of 1.3

i had hundreds of hours of footage of the full run but condensed all the cool stuff into these 3 vids so i wouldn’t have to upload all that lol. and i deleted all the footage after finishing the trilogy

My run was on 1.3, but if this category is ran on 1.0, then the number of mario moons drops down to 24.

yes! my run was done on 1.3, but it has been done on 1.0 as well. I suggest watching the other two parts, I go into the version differences there

@@tobi_play3802 After capturing the bill, hold Y and start shaking the controller. When you start shaking, you’ll see the bill spin for the first time. Now right before the bill spins for a second time, you want to let go of Y, but keep shaking the controller. If you let go of Y at the right time, as you keep shaking, the bill will get faster and faster

Buying extra moons typically isn’t allowed in challenge runs, but also, we would be buying the moons as Mario, so it definitely wouldn’t be allowed in this run haha
