Hank was the soundtrack of my teens. I owned every tape, then eventually owned them again on CDs. Saw him 17 times in concert. One time he was so drunk the show ended in 30 minutes. I had front row seats and was pissed.
I come from a long line of moonshiners and it is a craft passed down through families from one generation to the next the old timers did all the experimenting and what we have today they perfected years ago, one of my uncles let me help him make some of the best Muscatine wine on God's green earth, I remember the first time I drank some of it sitting in the swing behind my parents house and my dad walked outside looked at me and said ok so you can drink it but get up out of that swing and let me see if you can handle it, I tried to stand up but my legs had other plans I would fall and try to stand back up but couldn't do anything but laugh and fall again lol good times 😀
My best friend here in Alabama made us the best homemade wine I have ever had, and it's a common practice here in the deep South, and side note, Hank Jr. is the only country music singer I have ever paid money to see in concert.. many, times.
I grew up picking muscadine and scuppernongs to make wine with my grandma and my papaw made moonshine. But I will say Hank Jr’s recipe for muscadine wine is the best I’ve ever had!
Home made muscadine wine from right here in Ga. Hank Jr is the man. Love your Channel brother. Love seeing you hear old music and loving it. I’ll stand with you anytime. God Bless You Brother!!! God Bless America!!! 🙏🏼👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
To anyone that hasn't had southern homemade "wine".... proceed with caution 😂 dont let that good taste fool you. It definitely is not wine and it will hit you like a truck if you slip up. Just enjoy in moderation.
🤘🏽⚜️🤘🏽 No lies at all. 🥵 I’ve been known to make some homemade wine. Check out kaw-liga if you want to hear another style song of his. (yes, everyone, I know that’s a hank Senior song but I like Hank Junior’s version also)
Not only have I had homemade wine, I drank my share of moonshine and I'm still rolling greenery. I'm laid up here in a country state of mind! You got to come to tennessee.❤😂
I met a local on lake Cumberland partying on house boats. He said he was from Kentucky and had a bunch of homemade wine. It was good and strong. He was a real country boy just like this song is talking about. By the end of the night he was so drunk he fell off our board into the beach and knocked himself out. He was okay later lol
A lot of the references only us older generations will understand like trying to use the phone (there was one one person in an area allowed on the phone at one time in those days) but you get. Country state of mind is just a simple state, where your just happy with what you have.
I was surprised to see this song on your reactions. My favorite song as a teenager in Tennessee, laid up under a shade tree on the bank of the pond catfishing. Hot as hell with 90% humidity, but I loved summer!
That yodel part comes from, Jimmie Rogers. Waaaay back in the day. Even before me. Lol T for Tennessee, Pistol Packing Papa, All Around the Water Tank... These aren't exact titles. But, they will get you the songs.
I live in East Tennessee, we have moonshine all over here. The legendary Popcorn Sutton lived in same town i work in and part of the show Moonshiners is filmed there also.
Hank has that Snoop quality of always bringing the party with him but just be chill at the same time. It’s just hard not to like him, even he’s not your favorite musician or you’re just a casual fan. That goes for either one of them.
Being from Montana the MONTANA CAFE album was always me of my favorites. A great mix of a couple comedic songs, some blues, beautiful songs like this one and even some rock n roll with YOU CANT JUDGE A BOOK BY LOOKIN AT THE COVER with Huey Lewis.
My uncle Harold made some of the best homemade wine AND home brew... shew... the latter would plow you under like a nice, springtime garden baaahahahahaha
I've made home made mead, which is a wine made from honey rather than grapes. It was good. I also made apple cider and apple jack. The first time turned out, the 2nd time... not so much.
I'm from Ohio and my dad used to make homemade wine. I'n January 2001, I got kicked off the greyhound bus at 1:30 am middle of January in downtown Columbus Ohio headed to Gulfport, MS. I made it 1.5 hours in the trip on my pop's homemade wine😂 He didn't know I took that shit though. Literally walked down the street and passed out on the couch of a holiday inn in the lobby. My brother had to pick me up from Louisville. The hotel manager was pissed.
If you ain't a Country Boy, I got some news: we've adopted you, Greg. Welcome to the family, brother. It ain't about heritage, it's about heart. Less about where you come from or what family you're from and more about who you are, although to give fair warning: avoid certain family fights. My kin come from the Ozarks, moved to Appalachia with Papa when he married Granny, but our name is Phillips and it took a lot of time to differentiate us from the other Phillips' family (distant fifth or sixth cousins from way back after the Civil War) whom had and still have a blood feud with the Lowes. My dumbass had to date Lindsay Lowe, her daddy shot at me and damn near killed me for that, so, being a teenage idiot, I went and seduced her older sister too just to spite him. To be fair, both girls slept with me for the same reason. It...eh, it didn't end well. I got shot and the Lowes as a whole came within a hair's breath of being massacred by my Papa (25 years, retired, United States Army Rangers).

Saw him in concert in Houston back in the late 80's. It rocked!!! Memory for a lifetime!

I grew up picking muscadine and scuppernongs to make wine with my grandma and my papaw made moonshine. But I will say Hank Jr’s recipe for muscadine wine is the best I’ve ever had!

I was surprised to see this song on your reactions. My favorite song as a teenager in Tennessee, laid up under a shade tree on the bank of the pond catfishing. Hot as hell with 90% humidity, but I loved summer!
The whole album is good, but then again Hank Jr in the 80's was gold and late 70's
That yodel part comes from, Jimmie Rogers. Waaaay back in the day. Even before me. Lol T for Tennessee, Pistol Packing Papa, All Around the Water Tank... These aren't exact titles. But, they will get you the songs.

😂 Y'all don't know about, "calling up the request line". OMG... I'M so old! Just like Hank... I've had a good time. Love to all y'all.
Hank has that Snoop quality of always bringing the party with him but just be chill at the same time. It’s just hard not to like him, even he’s not your favorite musician or you’re just a casual fan. That goes for either one of them.
Hank, Snoop, and Willie: the Laidback Trifecta.
When I’m off work I’m laid up just like that ❤
Being from Montana the MONTANA CAFE album was always me of my favorites. A great mix of a couple comedic songs, some blues, beautiful songs like this one and even some rock n roll with YOU CANT JUDGE A BOOK BY LOOKIN AT THE COVER with Huey Lewis.

You should check out "Feelin' Better" from the New South album. The whole record is good.
I've had plenty of homemade wine. It's good. But, I'd just assume drink moonshine and Tequila shots!
If you get a chance you need to listen to American way by hank jr
Gotta drink homemade wine slow. It’ll catch up to you quick. It’s very good for sipping and bullshitting with friends and family.
Hog wild by Hank is a good one too
Very under rated!
