    The first time I heard this lad play, I heard the good ol' soul of the blues, but young again. The way he plays.. the way he sings! To paraphrase Noel Coward, it's like a 21st Century kind of blues. Such brilliance!

    It's nice to see gary touching base all over the place. He's playing with Mayer, picking up some augmented blues from the festi scene, and still playing that R&B blues and soul... I don't see why we should identify him as some color or race but I guess that something people don't seem to escape within their mentality anymore... I have come to accept nationality but its always popping up especially in this changing world where people are being given more opportunity to work for something... Well Gary Clark is still awesome I can tell he's drifting from traditional blues a bit but I am sure he'll find his way back to muddy waters.

    • @devs3720
      @devs3720 7 лет назад

      Tyler Hornback not really, but when you hook it up to a good amp, it's hard to know the difference

    • @tybell1994
      @tybell1994 7 лет назад +1

      True that.. Other factors involved. The tone wood is there with the Epiphones but the wiring harnesses and the winding of the pickups are sub par. I picked up a Epi Wildkat hollow body with the Chinese wiring harness and sub par pickup winding of the P-90`s. Upgraded the wiring harness pot switches etc. sent my pickups out to be wound to vintage specs and now have a phenomenal ... custom built up Epi with solid vintage tone that I`ll never sell. I took a 500$ Epi, sank about 350$ into it (Bigsby upgrade as well) and now have a beautiful guitar that will stand up to 3000$ guitars in a blind test. I can dive bomb the Bigsby and it will hold tune. Pickups are not microphonic and I can control the feedback. I love the art of controlled feedback. Clean tones are vintage quality. Don`t knock the Epiphones. They can be modified and built up to your personal preference. I got the limited edition wildcat with a solid Hawaiian Koa top mahogany body and rosewood finger board... The Chinese pickup wraps and wiring harness are garbage. Built up.... and this is an unbelievably high quality guitar with vintage tone that I will never sell. It is absolutely beautiful in every way. Add a boutique tube amp or a good Fender amp and it is like GOD is talking through this instrument. I`ve got a real Les Paul standard and an Eric Johnson strat... And I`m grabbing my Epiphone 80% of the time.

    • @ErroneousTheory
      @ErroneousTheory 6 лет назад

      You can get used gibson pickups on reverb or ebay and then a good epi will sound indistinguishable. Did that with an eastman and it sounds like a memphis at 1/3 the price.

      Goes to prove that you dont need an expensive top of the line guitar to sound good. Personally I dont understand why people pay up to 5 times or more for practically the same guitar, unless you have enough money to blow, especially when a lot of people end up changing out the Pickups / Humbuckers anyways. I dont know, Thats just my opinion on it.

    • @randyjameson894

      @@_MOORE_1986 For what it is worth, GCJ is an incredible player. He could make a piano wire strung between 2 planks of wood sound great. The guitar he is playing here is a vintage Epiphone made in Kalamazoo, MI and has a lot of serious mojo.

    • @5slide
      @5slide 5 лет назад +3

      m1o9o8r6e _ you’re right you don’t need an expensive guitar to sound good, but this Epiphone that GCJ is playing is a Casino model from the old Epiphone company before Gibson bought them, it has nothing to do with the new Epiphone company who make cheaper Gibson copies. This Casino will cost more than a lot of Gibsons
