Me lol 😂 You should also do a video about what's your favorite Ecuadorian candy or snacks. There are the Tango cookies (vanilla sandwiches filled with chocolate), or the Galak white chocoloate, or the Plop lolly pops, or the famous Tortolines chifles 😄

I am also a Canuck (albeit on the opposite side of the coutry; Nova Scotia) and have been obsessing about Ecuador for about a year and a half. Very excited for you as, from what I gather, it really doesn't matter too much where you end up in Ecuador, it will likely be magical. After more NS winters than I wish to count, I am primarily focused on the Coast of Ecuador (Olon or Manta) but honestly...everywhere seems exciting. FYI, I don't believe there is any mail service in the country. I think most expats take out a box with DHL for the bigger cities, but I'm not sure how plausable that might be in more remote or rural areas. There is an American expat couple who are prolific RUclipsrs (Amelia and JP is their primary channel)...so if you haven't discovered them already, you might want to check out some of their vids too. They lived in Cuenca for awhile before moving to the coast and they also have strong ties to the expat community there (although it does sound like you are trying to immerse yourselves more with the Ecuadorian people and culture, it's nice to know there is a pretty strong group of Canadian, American and European expats that might be able to assist with any issues that might arise. Sorry, this comment is already incredibly long-winded, but congratulations! I hope you have a wonderful time. I just discovered your channel today, but am subscribing and will be watching your other videos with baited breath.

My father is from Riobamba, mother from Ambato myself and 3 sisters from Quito. My parents took us to Chicago when I was 5. I have 2 sisters and 2 brothers born in Chicago. Hopefully in 3 yrs I will be a snowbird in Ecuador. Meanwhile I usually drop my mom off at her 102 sisters house in Quito. Stay for a month and return to pick her back up in May and stay another month.

@@mariaarencibia2639 I love Riobamba. While being a small city, to me it has a town feel. I like Riobamba more than Ambato. Ambato, while about the same size, has more of a city atmosphere. But I am a small town kind of person. I don't like cities much.

We will be on a 3-month Visa, and then extend it. At this point we can only extend it once (so 6 months in total). So.. we're still working on that part. Maybe leave the country and come back, depending on what's going on at the 6 month point! Great question!

Latino America is just a region that is it. It is no a culture. Every country in the region has its own culture. Did you know that Brazil has the highest number of Africans outside Africa? Did you know that Brazil also has the highest number of Japanese outside Japan? So tell me how the culture of an African Brazilian is the same as the culture of a 100% native inhabitant of Bolivia. I'm just curious. Or let's compare the culture of Japanese Brazilian with a biracial (Native and European) Mexican, is it the same?
The only thing that the Latino American countries have in common is that all speak languages which derives from the Latin. Even among Spanish speaking countries they can not understand each other so how can they have the same culture?
But there are similarities in regions and neighbors. Example Mexico is closer to the American culture than any other country in Latino America. Besides Mexico is also in North America. Often we think that Mexico is not part of this part of the continent but it is and it is a fact. There is a lot to learn.

Mexico is in America. All countries in America have different cultures. However, coutries like Venezuela, Ecuador, Colombia and in Central America Panamá are close in culture. And Lots of Brazilian do understand Spanish. But Spanish is spoken in all three Regions of America which makes it more versatile.
