After a decade of living in a one-bedroom apartment in Hermosa Beach, CA my wife Hilary and I got a unique opportunity to move into a converted garage/tiny home on our childhood home. Through the encouragement of my wife after some initial hesitation, we decided to take the plunge and pare down many of our possessions. A year later, we can safely say that it was one of the best decisions we had made and it was a great way to kickstart our first year of marriage.
So join me as I take you through a tour of our tiny home, the creative ways we made it work and how it's helped us strengthen our bonds with family.

Really love your home. Not only because it’s rather small - I live in a tiny with less than 200sqft - but because of the community part of it. Having your parents and sister right there is so special. Just like being part of a (running) community with likeminded people

Gorgeous home, guys. We are just having our 300 year old, little house renovated here in Leipzig. You have inspired me, especially with the coffee/dinner table and the the kitchen. I have also just returned from staying with a recently retired friend on her canal boat home in Northern England. She gave up so many material trappings, but has never been happier. Small and simple can be freeing. Wishing you a lifetime of happiness ahead!

I live in santa maria but I always drive to the beach to get my run, meditate, breathe and i noticed my life improved so much i used to be the opposite living in a room with no lights for so long and living at night. Going outside change my life and when i see your video and see the things your done now i know whats the next thing i want. Thank you so much for sharing

You have a beautiful home. Makes me feel guilty actually because I am a 67 year old single guy living in a 3000 square foot home. I don’t need the space but it’s sentimental to me because my late wife and I built this together and raised our daughter here. We hoped to have more children but that didn’t happen.

What a great use of space and having family close is special. My husband and I live tiny too (576 sq ft) and he works from home as well. As time has gone on we have even less than when we first started almost 6 years ago. 😊

Super cool, efficient and compact. I'm lucky enough to have kept all my family in our single family townhouse. People ask me if it's cramped or if we have any privacy. I tell them it's the way we like it. Good luck out there.
How many people in your family and sq ft?
@@amyskyworks 1,340 sqft livable space. However, I made the master bedroom balcony into an office, the attic into storage, back patio into a mom cave and garage into family jungle gym and tool room. We have 4 working adults that build our schedules around the 2 grand children. They will NOT be exposed to government propaganda.
Congratulations! I see one thing you did NOT have to sacrifice in your cozy new office is your ability to control the climate. I bet it gets really cold really fast with that mini-split tucked away up above.

I am working hard to buy a house of my own (currently living with my parents. Im indian so its very normal for us). My parents are over 65 and soon the time will come. The house we live in is too big for me once they pass. Im single and even if i were to get married, our house is too big.
You lucked out in finding a wife who's not crazy materialistic. Beautiful home. And to have a separate space for you two yet be so close to family is probably the best situation.

small home, i hope you two have a rule of no sweaty running clothes beyond the washer/dryer. In that small house and with two runners, it would be some rank smelling going on if running clothes piled up. Also, give you 20 bucks for the Yoda and RUclips plaque
