Old MobiFlight vs New MobiFlight - What are all of the changes?

- I've been getting a lot of comments that my videos from 3 years ago are out of date, and you'd be correct in accusing me of that!
However - I'm not exactly time rich anymore and can't refilm the tens to hundreds of video son the channel :)
Hopefully this video shows the new MobiFlight system of configuration and makes it less intimidating.

Thank you Trevor, You seem to always hit the nail on the head. I was wondering if maybe you have a heading indicator build in the near future?
Thank you Gerald! I have one planned in the medium future. Remember - it all gets done in my limited free time!
@@CaptainBobSim I really understand about limited time for sure. You now have both hands full with college and things, but you can do It, i have faith in you. Only please don't take too long as you know I am 90 years old and I sure would like to see you build one, so I can build one. I don't mean to rush you.
@@geraldcooper6563 Hello Gerald! You have a great point - I'll start on it after I release my current project
You have come a long way baby! (Both Mobiflight and the mustache). Mobiflight is becoming a very accessible cockpit building platform. Here is your assignment should you choose to accept it (the show that line is from is older than your parents 🙂) Show the community how to build a dual Com, dual Nav radio stack using one dual rotary encoder, on single rotary encoder, one four line lcd display, an arduino 2560 mega and Mobiflight. Great fun, inexpensive and very useful, even if not so pretty.
Hey Steve! What a great challenge!
Email me CaptainBobSim@gmail.com I'd love to have your opinion on my prototype files for it.
Hello, glad to see you back with us.
Glad to be back!
My great smart friend. Great video as always. You are grown my god since your first videos.
Thank you!!
Hey mate, Ian here from Australia love watching your videos and building my own dashboard. Have you figured out how to use LEDs to illuminate the dials yet? Would love a video on how to power a bunch of LEDs and control them with the arduino and mobiflight:)
Hello Ian! I've figured out a way to illuminate them - my method only uses 2 LEDs light at the top.
I'd be interested in making a video about backlighting and illumination.
I can't give you a timeline, because I work on all of these projects during my free time.
The Turn Coordinator video uses this method, you can find the .STEP model here that should show it: www.printables.com/model/260963-turn-coordinator-cessna-172/files
I dunno anything about airplanes or simulators but I do know a cutie when I see one :)
I have a mustache now!
Hey, Do you know if it's possible to assign a keybind and/or a servo to the circuit brakers in the black square bonanza in msfs?
I'm planning to build a bonanza home cockpit based on that aircraft. But I can't find any information on the circuit brakers. Any help is appreciated! :)
I don't have the Black Square Bonanza, so can't tell you for certain.
You can trigger a circuit breaker via a joystick command however!
I'll be very happy if you help me to find the code for Canopy open in Mobiflight. I want to be able to detect when the door is open or close. Not just toggle a switch whith Shift +E. Thanks
What Sim?
Radio frequency for com 1 STbY or active are not in MSFS2020 is it ok to use FSUPC instead?
Yep! They are in MSFS2020 though.
(A:COM ACTIVE FREQUENCY:1,KHz)
(A:COM STANDBY FREQUENCY:1,KHz)
The last version is very good but the last configuration window(where you check the ok for a config change, at 4:22 in your video for instance) is bigger and too big now and not sizable. Since most bezels or frames are smaller than the actual physical display some parts of Mobiflight are not visible. This must be easy to fix for the developer🤓
You should report the bugs at github.com/MobiFlight/MobiFlight-Connector/issues
assuming they don't already know about it. I don't know if I'm completely understanding.
@@CaptainBobSim I am not good at explaining but I meant I can-t click ok after having made a change since the ok button is outside of the screen area on the instrument panel in my homebuilt sim :) . I may contact Sebastian🙂
Btw. , your channel is super and I have learnt so much from you🤗
Gotcha- that makes sense, If you change your monitor resolution does this solve it?
Just with a quick query, arduino and MF are compatible with Xplane 11...?
Yes - they are!
It IS a sweet stache.
Thank you!!
Hey Bob - could you follow up some of the instrument build videos with how to configure them in Mobiflight please? Ta
No.
Just kidding 🙃
I'll make config videos as I make my own instruments.
Hopefully my old videos give a starting point if you want to do it now. Remember you learn through struggling!
@@CaptainBobSim you cheeky fellow. I’ve made the ASI, Turn, Altimeter, currently assembling the two VORs, (and contemplating whether the same design can be adapted to ADF). I’ve also made someone else’s artificial horizon, and the Heading Indicator is printing now. So great progress but some hints on how to tune them in MF would be good and who better to ask? Btw your moustache makes you look like a TV cop from the 1970s, and that no bad thing. Cheers mate from the U.K.
My MobiFlight is not connected, what am I doing wrong?
Is the simulator on?
