Thanks! I have a 4digit display with the connections: VCC, SCLK, RCLK, DIO and GND. I am not able to get this display to work.
Hello! It doesn't sound like this is a MAX7219 - what model is it?
@@CaptainBobSim LED Display 7 Segment 4-bit 0.36 Inch Serial 595 Driver Board Arduino its called
Love your videos dude! :) I have a rotary encoder with the following 5 pins: CLK, DT, SW, +, GND.. how shoud I wire theese?
CLK and DT can be treated as A and B then + should go to 5V :D
man this guy is kinda based, bet he makes fire spaghetti
My spaghetti is the best BOTH sides of the mississipsipipipissisipi river.
captain bob i am making cessna 152 sim. in c-152 MSFX has three beacon markers on its panel. does this system also work for the led of them?
Yep you'd just search for "Marker"
@@CaptainBobSim thank you my savior. I am so happy for that. I was wondering how should I interact for those LED markers on my panel. Thank you
How many leds can I connect to one board, cause I only see like 4 grounds. If more that you explain how? Thanks!
What are Hall effect sensors doing, limit switches?
Yep!
Looks awesome mate cant wait to give it a try. One question i have is, does the stepper motor know what pisition its at and correct to zero say for example after a restart?
This version is zeroed manually (so it doesn't)
@CaptainBobSim ahh okay so I'd have to reset it to zero initially. Or perhaps what would be better is to get the QFE first then set that with the encoder, then zero it so when you change to QNH if leaving the pattern it should align with what's in the sim?
This is assuming we're going for a full cockpit set up with no cockpit view within the simulator. It's probably easier to change camera and have a quick glance and align it that way and I'm just overcomplicating it 😂
Hello Capt. thank you for this awesome video. I managed to get the active comm freq to display as my first mobiflight project! One question, do you also have videos further explaining how to build in a push button (to switch between the active and stby freq) and a concentric rotary encoder? I'm trying to make a simplified replica of the fenix A320 radio panel. Is it as simple as wiring the push button and rotary encoder to different pins on the Mega and telling them what to do in the mobiflight software?
Does anyone know where the young Trevor has gone, Im halfway through my Cessna Build and need to know how far off the Kap 140 and a few other Radiostack items will be finished.
I'm a time traveller !!!
What is the future like? Is it worth the wait?
Dear Captain Bob. Following you and feeling admiration for you, I have become enthusiastic and have started to try to build the Cessna 172 cockpit for MSFS X. I am configuring the fuel gauges and, although I have programmed in Mobiflight (v.10.4) as a precondition that the battery is in “ON”, when I turn it to “OFF” the needles continue to indicate the levels and do not return to the “0” position. Would you be so kind as to help me solve the problem. Thank you for your help and for your wonderful and educational work. Greetings from Spain
i solved the problem! you need to create another activity with master type (1=active 0=not active) then you need to enter the another activity: one of the fuel gauges and create reference and then you need to create transformation that multiplies your new variable. for example : you create the new activity that called "master switch" and then enter to right fuel gauge then go to modify tab and press "add reference" then choose "master swtich" that you created earlier and you will see new variable "#" with this variable you can multiply your formula like: $*# so if you have input of 45% and the master switch is on so it will be 45*1=45 else it will be: 45*0=0 so you get display of 0 like you wanted *pay attention that not only the master switch determine if the fuel gauge will turn on - also alternator

Hi Captain Bob! Can i use this on xplane? will it work if i will do the same and use xplane instead of microsoft flight simulator?
Yep! It's compatible with both!
Hi did you find a solution for the C172 starter switch- OFF-LEFT-RIGHT-BOTH did work in MSFS, but START position did not work in you panel video. TY.
Hey Captain, im having problems with mobiflight. Im trying to download HubHop presets MSFS2020 but it just gets stuck at 98% each time. I've tried reinstalling it but still hasn't worked. Any thoughts?
Banana 🍌🍌
Do I need to use the exact x27.168 stepper motor.. or can I use any other stepper motor? Thank you Captain!
When I fly my first flying car I’m calling the bob of the captains
Can you please direct me to a good video on the electronic/software side of connecting peripherals to sims? Ie. I know nothing about mobi flight or other software, ardininos, etc.
thank you captain for your informative videos. my generous friend. can you teach how can make a 3 position ,90 degree fuel selector with that rotary switch please.
Heyo! You'd need a 3 position switch with a 90 degree
Hi Captain, I'm in the process of building a G1000, and I need to know what rotary encoders with buttons are available, I need this to move communications, navigation and heading, but I'm trying to buy on Aliex, but there are many models. Do you know if I can find them on Ebay or Amz USA? Or what rotary encoder do you recommend? Greetings.
Hello captain bob! Amazing video as always but I would like to know what servo to buy, how many degrees because I bought a 360 servo and it doesn’t work😢. Would you be able to send me a link to a servo for a simple airspeed indicator, thanks !!
or if you would recommend using a stepper motor?
where can I find the TAS decal?
what type of rotary encoder i need to use for cessna 172 instrument bezels capt?
is it better to use 50k or 100k instead of 10k?
Thanks Captian Bob! You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find the diagram of the ON-ON-ON switch when you search for it. Seems so simple, but the search engines were NOT helpful. 2 years after you posted this, you fixed my problem, thanks again!
I'm glad I could be of assistance!
I laughed so hard I think you’re so funny 😂😆🤣 My favorite was the fruit snack game one 😂
What thickness is the acrylic you are using? Amazing job !! 🎉
It's 3mm :D
Hello, do you have problems with the speed of the stepper motors, that they are slow? Does it happen to me that when I set a higher speed in MobiFlight, the engine only makes noises and does not turn? If you have the same problem, did you manage to solve it? Or how? Many thanks in advance
I am returning to the channel after 3/4 years to see how your panel turned out, and you've still not finished it 😂
School is kicking my butt! And everything else too apparently.
very nice tuto, but i have a problem: As soon as I choose Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 instead of Mobiflight Variable, I lose my connection in "sim status" bar at the bottom left. i don't know what to do. Can tou hlep me. Thank you.
I am going to make a G3x, G-5, GTN 750, GMA 350, and a G-500 autopilot. I think some of it I will just buy RealSim. But the touchscreens they use have got bad reviews and I may just make my own. Do you have any recommendations on a 3d printer? I finished my steel base frame. I have mounted Harbor Freight wheels and 4 flat tire scissor jacks, they were $15 each on Amazon. So that it can roll and I can level it and make it stable. The base is a little smaller than the 4 x 8 Harbor Freight trailer I have. I have a cutout for the panel in my Mooney that the Avionics shop made as a template. So I will be using that. I made a button and rotary knob panel, without the screen, using Arduinos before but never the other stuff. Next I will be building the plane itself while a get more info on the panel.
Im assuming all buttons have ground wires. How do you connect them to the arduino when the board only has 4?
Button Matrix, connect everything to one cable that feeds directly into a Ground port, I use the GRD on the analog side
hey, awesome video dude! can you give a brief explanation to how to get all the stuff for this project?
Hello! great project! I have a couple questions. will this work with the GNS430 in the Diamond DA-20? Unfortunately it does not have a pop out panel, it won't poppet to a display to be used with a touchscreen and knobster unfortunately.?
The buttons should work if you program them to a GNS 430. You need the popout however, to display the GNS display.
Hey I am building my own sim project, how can I connect many arduinos to my pc? Because I don't have enough USB ports to connect them via cable
You can get a powered USB Hub!
@@CaptainBobSim thank you very much, I will try it. :)
@@CaptainBobSim And one last thing, how to connect these lcd screens via hdmi cable, cause I have the same problem here😅, how can I connect more screens beacuse my graphic card only has 2 slots?
@@michalalicky3300 This one is more tricky - I've tried USB to HDMI cords with some success, you can also get a USB C Dock and try that. It may mess with computer performance - Some people add an extra computer and figure out how to network it
@@CaptainBobSim ok, thank you very much for responding
where to buy the PCB board Bob?
Flight testing done right. Lift the plane up 10 000 ft on an imaginary crane, drop it and check that ADF works. FAA approved👌
Yep 😂😂😂
This home cockpit Cessna until get done completely take 10 years !!
Nice and fun y. Thx a lot. 😂
captain did you print the bezel or you bought it?
do you sell its the bezels too?
Congratulations 🎉
Captain. great. what are the dimensions of fuel/oil and instrument gauges?
Hey Man, totally 100% awesome, a true marvel, one issue is that I cant find the breakout boards anywhere and not sure the correct term for them, if not how do I connect it to the arduino, Im using an uno clone as I find them more stable than the originals, keep up the awesome work

Hello, good afternoon What is the name or model of the controller for the motor? Thank you Angel
ULN2003 👍
hahaha awsome !"! i love this kind of video ! cool
Hi bob, can i use this for do my own overheat panel 737 with toggle switch using the zero delay ?
I'd recommend using an Arduino with MobiFlight instead but it should work!
Is there a big difference between mobiflight and air manager? I'm using xplane 12
You can use Air Manager to code this, but it might be a hassle dealing with the data manipulation, whereas MobiFlight tends to let you do things without code.
At 6:03 “yeah!”. LOL 😂
😂
