  • flying about the St Johns bridge on a beautiful, clear winter day. in a city of bridges this is a stand-out. BTW i was careful to only fly over the bridge when there was little or no traffic.

The St. John’s bridge is a copy of the Golden Gate Bridge. It was built as a wpa (work project adm) during the depression ordered by president FDR to get people back to working again. The park underneath the bridge is called cathedral park. From an ex St. Johner

Lonn Hofman - You might want to read up on your history a bit. St John's was opened in 1931,
Golden Gate Bridge Construction: start - January 5, 1933
    end - April 19, 1937
Opened - May 27, 1937. So if there was any copying.........
The WPA was created May 6, 1935. Certainly had nothing to do with the St. John's bridge project and doubtful that it had much to do with the G. G. bridge, if anything.
Thought you might like to know.
