Morrison Bridge Lift from Inside the Bridge

The Morrison Bridge in Portland, Oregon is a Bascule lift bridge. Massive counterweights inside the bridge structure allow the bridge spans to tilt up and make room for river traffic. We were able to watch a bridge opening from inside the counterweight area under the bridge roadway.

I use to ride that every morning Monday through Friday at 5:30am. Interesting to see the inside like that.
