Ive come to an understanding that communication is magnificiently important but what I learned from this show is the importance of being able to articulate words to let the communication happen!

It was good, I did pick up some Nordie twang to her accent on some words in the first show episode and wonder if he character was not from Sligo then looked her up and saw she was British with a Nordie Mom so made sense. But after that did really notice it.
M.L Soll idk maybe Connell but I think they did a pretty good job of making her look like a 17-18 year old high school girl then aging her up to a 19-20 year old college student just but her hair, makeup and attitude.
When I was at school(many years ago)there were boys in the 6th form who looked just as old as Paul/Connell. I never made it to the 6th form---not brainy enough!
She could pass for 18, I actually went to school with a girl who looked like her. He looks a bit older. She would have been 20/21 and he would have been 22/23 when this was filmed I believe.

Broke my heart. Them seem to be the two most matched people I have ever seen in a fictional love story. They spend so much of their time misunderstanding each other and so when they finally realize how good they are for each other, well I just can't seem the parted, even if they may get back together. Made me cry. Fiction can often be more true than non-fiction and this story is one of those times.
I watched your show from Turkey. As a 47-year-old, I have never watched a more beautiful, more pure, love-based movie or show in my life. I don't think I will from now on…😢
She dissected him like Hannibal lecter even crossing one part of the structure to other and then asking about his relationship the same way, she had him completely figured out down to his fake persona with his so called fiends, She broke her analysis when she felt she hurt him though
She really is a fascinating young woman. I could see why an intelligent, shy guy like him would be drawn to her. She's the kind of person who makes every conversation interesting.
I really love this scene. The start of a friendship (invisible to others) and later became lovers. I guess the ending is but appropriate. Really Sad, though.
Props to the show writers like they portrayed marianne as an anti social the way she talks , it reminds me the way i was i wud suffer from social anxiety nd her dismissive family and toxic mother.I can relate to her character on so many levels...

in the trailer she looked like Dakota Johnson, i mean i really though this was based in some university (not a secondary school) where the actress must've asked for a full blow irish role to show Jamie Dornan.. just what popped into mind at that second

And even if it was written and filmed in Ireland, that doesn't really undercut my point. For the most part, people in movies and on television are much better looking than average folk - and Daisy Edgar-Jones is a very attractive young woman. It takes a certain suspension of disbelief to accept that a young woman as attractive as she would be some sort of outcast.
natanbridge from my own experience in school I don’t think it’s unusual for an attractive girl to be an outcast. I’ve seen it plenty. If they’re weird or antisocial or don’t fit into certain social norms and standards people think less of them.
A bit unrelated but i love irish accent...it sounds so bold stylish and cool when they speak...in contrast to scottish which makes me want to laugh everytime it sounds so funny nothing against scottish people

Offcourse what is normal or abnormal is just a state of mind, but most of the time what majority think becomes normal and at some point in the series it's quite evident that this two characters are far from normal but the irony is the title of the show is normal people, just lack of communication otherwise they are perfect for each other they are "normal" for each other
