"No one works harder than us... except for people who work in other professions" 🤣
Yes that's soo much my favourite line!
Because sooo true! :)
When I used to busk one line we used to get tips was “you are all that stands between us and an honest living.”
He is kinda copying the public devide thing Ricky Gervais has already done.
Wow its so funny
@@Brass-Eye "copying" lemme guess, you're not from the UK?
Decisive comedy is a staple of British comedy. No one person owns it.
What makes Richard great is he's literally just saying what he thinks.
What we and they all think but too poolite to saym because it's just not the industry tradition to admit actors are one of the easiest jobs in the world etc that bluntly lol.
Richard “zero filter”’ Ayoade
It's great when he says what he thinks because it's probably more or less what you think ;)
There are uk quiz shows with Richard Ayoade as a guest, and there are uk quiz shows that are not worth your time. There is no third category
...and what is written on the teleprompter
His best line of all time has to be the, "NO ONE told me there would be social interaction or I would not have come." 😆
where did he say that? he didn't say it here.
@@moonbalancedd He said it on 8 out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
If thats his best line I'd hate to see his worst material
was that the episode he was team captain with rob beckett in place of sean lock?
@@ItsMeYourRealDad you have to imagine this in his voice and deadpan delivery and appreciate this dry sarcastic wit
"There was barely enough time to get up from your seat and slap someone..."
😄😂🤣
Best line!
@@annmarie3573 no, there were better
He should be the new Doctor. He would be brilliant!
I was scrolling down to say exactly that but you beat me to it:) He's the perfect Doctor Who.
I totally agree. I’m not interested in the proposed new Doctor so they lost me.
@@lindalowe5592 they still haven’t called him 14 yet so he might still not be the next doctor
@@noahcraven Oh rly? What are we thinking, that now that the Doctor has infinite regenerations they’ll pop a cap in their head every episode till they get to a look that everyone likes?
@@Lumibear. don’t shoot the messenger here man, i’m sure there’s a valid reason that another regeneration is allowed that you could wrap your head around if you have it the time of day instead of being lowkey mad on the internet
Richard is just legendary. Best deadpan straight man in a generation. Thank God RUclips exists so Americans can enjoy this genius man.
Yes it is a vast improvement.
See Howard Moon
Well done Richard for being something that the BBC and most actors cannot achieve: not entitled, not condescending, not a waste of space, and entertaining.
Thank you.
you're thanking someone for merely being a decent person, really? also, do you actually know what he's like?
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 most celebrities arent decent. least male ones
I always find Richard Ayoade to be delightful. More of him, please!
I remember he was in the US film The Watch, 🔭. He was excellent in Dark Place, The IT Crowd. 📺
The random awkward "hi". He's the only person on Earth I can respect for using something that simple for comedy.
Nobody can say "Please" quite like Ayoade can.
Yeah, that was brilliant on multiple levels.
What a blessing this man is, he’s never disappointed
_What a blessing this man is, he's never disappointed_
That apostrophe adds a certain, comedic ambiguity to your statement.
@@imacmill 😂 true, I was tired when I commented
@@AmaraEmme he's ALWAYS dissapointed
@@AmaraEmme it’s funnier that you explained what happened. I understand the feeling when you’re too tired, you saw the mistake but then ah f it and hit post lol
@@flugoaway3398 no, that's not what she said. she only saw her mistake afterwards, she literally just explained this, what are you talking about?
He's finally made the 'IT Crowd.
😂😂😂😂😂❤
I MISTAH KIM!
That man just doesn't age. I had to look it up. He's 45 and still looks like he's in his 20s.
there's a saying, black don't crack
Just by quitting alcohol you expand your youth by many years.
@@Astral-Projector2389genes. Some people drink and smoke to the high heavens and still look like kids.
He's funny in The IT Crowd. PBS 🇺🇸 ran that sitcom for 3-4 years, weekends. It ended, US airing around 2021.
He said he's 23
“There’s barely enough time to get up your seat and slap someone” - ohhh the shade. 😂😂
Richard is a genius. i can't tell if his whole personality is an act, which if it is is an insane level of skill and commitment I'm certainly incapable of, or if it is just who he is as a person that exudes the level of perfect comedic timing do to awkward delivery, but which ever it is, I deeply respect the man for all the laughs he's bestowed upon me.
Probably a mix of real person combined with a comedy brain.
Very likely to be a persona that has elements of his real personality, but when you seem him interact with someone like Chris O'Dowd or Noel Fielding, you can tell that he is trying to keep the awkward persona up and to not break.
You brits wouldnt know funny if it killed the queen. O wait… she is dead and its hilarious!
From what I've seen the awkwardness is a very strong comedy persona. Maybe in real life he is a bit reserved 🤷
People like this are usually both
quick wit, well constructed , consistent threads, BEAUTIFUL JOB.
what was quick...or, some might say...witty about that?!
What? It's a rehearsed speech, which fine but there's nothing witty about it.
Quick reading
I've seen him in several interviews. He's very quick and witty.
Brilliantly understated, ironic, and cheekily modest.
he is really good, but how can u use quick wit to describe a pre-written speech??? :)
Had a thought: REAL outside the box casting: Richard as the new Bond. 😁
He'd basically be Austin Powers, so they may as well just do a new Austin Powers with him instead 😁
I absolutely love Richard Ayoade but that's a bit too far outside the box
Doctor who
I'd watch it if they cast Richard 💯, and I'm not interested in it at all as it is , far better as a spoof.
This will eventually end. LOL!! He's always brilliantly drole. He would be superb as Dr. WHO!!!
Absolute agree
OMG YOU’RE RIGHT!!!
How have I not thought of this? Brilliant!
*droll
Or a Willy Wonka.
not gonna happen. He would not be the Doctor he would be Richard Ayoade. Brilliant but not right for the show.
I love Richard Ayoade, he is so funny!
He will always be too damn funny
When you realise his whole public persona is an act, and that he might actually be the best and most committed actor in the room...
Still waiting for that wondrous day when Richard Ayoade plays Doctor Who.
Richard’s one of those people who seem endlessly funny due to a substantial amount of both wit and intelligence, I’ve missed him since Travel Man. Would pay any sum of money to see him and Holness resurrect Darkplace.
And damn, he’s looking really good, like, hasn’t aged a day in the past 20 years.
Surely Richard should be hosting this show every year.
As British as they come honestly. Classic!
Richard Ayoade is a great speaker. 😊 Great host.
I love him so much. Such a funny man
You don't love him like I love him.
I adore Richard! Always good value.
He’s done IT proud
I want him to give my eulogy. My ghost will be behind him cracking up. 🤣🤣
😆
Richard is not on TV enough his hilarious everytime I see him
Really need him to be on task master
YES! And David Mitchell
Richard Ayoade is HILARIOUS, as always!
Richard is absolutely adorable 🥰
Damn it I love Richard. The best!
Clever man..
Very funny..👍
Respect Richard..💯
He is brilliant.
so funny in a classy way. love him
Absolutely awesome and honest
Richard Ayoade is a legend in his own time.
"I don't know who's won what, and its not just bc I don't care"
Best part to me aside from the slap someone reference
“… in a way, welcome”
I think he’s great, always really funny. Handsome nerd thing going on. I loved him on travelman.
Love love love Richard.
1:02 love how everyone was sad because he wouldnt be hosting anymore but he immediately made em laugh,I LOVE HIM
Please bring back IT Crowd
Love this guy!!!!!
Simply brilliant!
I love Ayoade! So funny!
I love British humor
Omg. He is fantastic.
He's amazing!
I adore this man!
Oh Richard you are the best... 😂😂😂
One of my favorite Brits.❤😂
This dude is SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The audience is like "Okay...not sure...I guess we'll clap."
For everything he says, I always feel I'm watching Moss on a stage.
He's not an actor, just a guy who said he was an actor and has been reluctantly doing it ever since to save embarrassment
I can’t see him as anyone other than Moss. It looks like he didn’t wear his slightly larger glasses to present, though.
@@emrico1 That's so Moss... :P
A little bit, but Richard is so so so much more aware of the social conventions and unspoken layers to things. He flouts them deliberately, with full knowledge of what he's doing.
Dear Sir or Madam:
Fire! Fire! Fire!
His voice is mesmerizing
Just love this man.
He is such an icon
Ricard truly makes the best of it. I am a fan of Richard Ayoade he is cute. He is also great in The Mandalorian season 1 as Zero. It's cool he got to work with Disney. He has done more than he gives himself credit for.
I just love him
British comedians are awesome
oh dear god i love him
That stage is awesome!
we all love him
Thank you Moss
Top class opening, 👏👏
Love him.
My dream choice for a future Dr Who, how I would love to see him writing for and playing that role. Brilliantly funny, highly intelligent and so likable. A believable Dr Who if ever I saw one.
It's "Doctor Who" - never, ever shortened to "Dr. Who." Now yer know. :)
@@nightjarflying oh ffs nightjar don't shout someone down just for saying Dr Who 🙄
@@nightjarflyingThe Doctor was referred to as Dr. Who in the credits of the classic series, I believe.

Marvellous!
I have never seen such aggressive decor in an awards show.
WOW 😳....beautiful show...and he is just a 🥰🥰cutie."no one had better slap him".I'm telling u.💪
So strange seeing Ant & Dec in the same room as Richard Ayoade. It's like those Family Guy/Simpsons crossovers nobody asked for
As if I'd forgotten they exist in the same time and place
I love the Will Smith reference lol
Of course you will
Only reason I came on to watch the clip, I knew Richard would take a swipe at Will 'No Class' Smith...
That was the most British thing I've evr seen.
You clearly live an extremely sheltered life
@@Totalavulsion what does being sheltered have to do with my comment? Are you always unnecessarily snarky?
@@Totalavulsion sheltered life refers to a person who hasn't had many hardships.

Damn right and hilarious no one works harder than us except people in other except people in other proffesions
That was the best joke, but I didnt get much laughs from this. It was more slightly amusing for me. A couple of chuckles.
Fair enough its just one of those which is always good to hear self deprecation and running down.
yes that was the one good line

Maybe my fav award speech I can remember :)
THIS INDUSTRY NEEDS THIS MAN..
He does indifference brilliantly! 😂
Classy, Dry and Hilarious. Trademark Moss!
Gold! I'm in stitches
First saw him on Garth Merenghi's Darkplace, man's a genius.
Hilarious oddball, exceptional delivery!!
ABSOLUTELY 💚 RICHARD AYOADE !!!!
British humour is really something lol
My hero
Very Entertaining.. not boring like some others.. great .
For me, Mr. Ayoade would've been a *much* better host for BAFTA Film Awards, too. He's genuinely very funny! I was cringing the whole time I was watching rebel wilson hosting.. 🤫
I totally agree. They consistently get it wrong: Fry was funny for a few years and then became tiresome; Jonathan Ross and Joanna Lumley were dreadful. I didn’t see the Rebel Wilson broadcast but she seemed an odd choice. But you can bet they won’t give RA the gig - too obviously the best option and too ironic for the Hollywood gang.
@@johnricercato740 🤣🤣 you're right. I can imagine those Hollywood actors' blank faces, while we're rofl. I'm not even a brit, nor an american, but I really enjoy sarcastic humour that RA has. He's one of my favourite comics. Rebel was a really random choice, and Joanna was painful. Fry was ok, I thought, but at this point, I think I'd even appreciate Tom Allen hosting. Cuz they did always fail to choose a good one. 😓
How many awards does bafta have? Also, just curious, but why was there an airline logo stuck to the lectern?
Excellent comedy without a curse word in his opening. Well done!
Bang on! Doesn't need to swear to get a laugh. True talent.

Why, why, WHY, wasn’t Richard chosen as the new Doctor?!
Maybe he didn't want the part?
@@hi-ve1cw A fair point. I just think he’d be brilliant.
@@japhyryder66 I agree
because he would Ruin it! - 2 secs thought comes up with far better choice Benedict Cumberbatch
Oh they will, some day. Would love to see Ramesh as well, but I fear they won't enjoy his wonderful humor in a Doctor as much. But Richard? For certain.
The young man they showed towards the end with the big smile (Ncuti Gatwa) , is the new Dr Who! Cool!
He's a treasure.
