@@JustOneMoreWatch my bank account might be sweating a bit at that! But thanks so much Jody. A lot of your videos were crucial in my purchasing decisions. My newest arrival is a Xeric Trappist-1 and it is every bit as fantastic as your review made it out to be. That said other highlights include both a Seiko 5 GMT and the Pagani Design World Timer GMT(which I happened to be wearing when I watched yr video review for it!)
@@JustOneMoreWatch Hey Jody, could you please let me know when you sell that lovely green Alba ? I've wanted a green diver for a long time 👍😆 Christmas Cheers mate 🍺 WHOOPS !! Don't worry mate, I just watched your review again, I'll wait for a green Steel Dive to go on special ! 👍
I feel inadequate. I just left a comment saying that I bought 9 this year conveniently forgetting the one thats waiting for me for xmas and the one I bought yesterday that hasn't arrived yet. So that's 11. As I said - inadequate. 🤣
I can't believe I only bought 1 watch this year, so much discipline. The Aliexpress ban here in India has certainly helped, lol! I took a gamble on buying from abroad and while I like the watch lots, I also ended up paying way more than I would have if I bought it locally, thanks to outrageous customs so I'm sad about that. The watch is a Zeppelin LZ126 7614-5 chrono.
After three year long break from collecting watches, I bought 35 in 2020, 32 last year, and 21 this year. I flipped couple of them, but still got 65 left :) Im into watches since 2010 when best chinese specials one can buy was Parnis portuguese clone, or shitty alpha on st17. Flipped more than 3 hundred timepieces for about 7 years, then sold what i have left and put all the money into new apartement makeover. And then, when I thought I was out, You pulled me back in. I found Your channel in very early 2020... and You know the rest :) Thanks for amazing content, amazing watches. Wish You to get at least 104 new ones next year. Cheers!
I didn't buy anything new this year, but I got into beginner watchmaking & restoration. Since June, 1 or 2 vintage watches a month have gone under the knife and most came out pretty good! I've only held onto a couple, including a sweet TV case Timex dripping with late 70's style.
The Casio Oceanus S100 struck a chord with me, essentially a bargain basement luxury watch, a gateway into what luxury watches are all about. Spot on accuracy, titanium construction, sapphire glass, and a level of finish that puts most other watches to shame. It hasn’t been off my wrist since it arrived from Japan. Probably the most expensive watch I will ever own, but that is good enough for me. It is gorgeous!
Jody, I’ve been watching your videos for like 5 years now. Today is the first time I am watching you wearing a Casio. First G Shock was gifted from my dad. I never saw my self with a big G Shock, maybe a 5600 or a Casio Oak but never pulled the trigger. Dad gave me this GDF-100 and I finally get it! Been on my wrist for about a week.
So Dr. Jody, I bought 5 Orient Mako/Rays for a mod hobby after a biking injury and did sapphire crystals, lumed ceramic bezels and strap/bracelet upgrades. Recently I have gone on a Flieger Type B kick and picked up a Steeldive SD1940, an Escapement Time PT5000 40mm and a San Martin SN030 for Black Friday. I also got a Steeldive SD1953 to replace my old 8926OB that got erratic after 10 years of abuse. Not too bad, I think a missed a few there, seems like I have a few new Pagani boxes I can’t explain and my watch box is overflowing to the point I need another one. I have also bought multiple straps, clasps and other horological accessories and tools to support my new sickness, I mean, hobby! 😂
I sold 8 (a Seiko titanium Solar Diver, a NTH Nachen, two Marathon TSARs - a 41mm and a 36mm, an SWC Bunker and Ark, a titanium Aristo, and a Sin 856 B-Uhr.) Don't miss any of them. But I did pick up a Christopher Ward C63 Elite in titanium that makes me smile every time I put it on as well as a CW C65 Dartmouth I also love. Thanks to you, I ended up with three new Casios - a BT Casioak, a Mudmaster GWG2000-1A3, and a GWM5610-1 - all great watches! And last but not least, I got a Citizen Promaster Tough Super Titanium BN0118-55E Ray Mears Edition which is only sold now in England. I am really loving the Promaster!!! No dogs here! The Mudmaster is a huge thing but fun. Everything else is great for everything! Especially since I had cataract surgery, I can read digital watches again without glasses. So I'm pretty happy! Eight sold. Six bought...
I've been very disciplined this year and have bought only one watch, the Luch One-Hander. That's because I'm trying to refrain from unnecessary impulse purchases and keep my collection within certain limits and also saving up for one of my grails.
I bought 4 this year. 1. Microbrand Oso Orbit Chronograph. 2. Sieko Presage Cocktail Time ( blue sunburst dial).3. Seiko Speedtimer ( white dial) 4. Orient Kamasu ( Red dial). Love them all and they all get a lot of wrist time. My favorite? It's a tie between the Presage and the Oso Orbit. They are beautiful and both get a lot of compliments when I wear them.
I’m at 13 for the year but the year isn’t over yet, I’ve got my eye on DW5600 g shock and I really what a Steinhart vintage military. By best purchase is a toss up between my Tissot Gentleman, my Kamasu and my most recent buy ( which I haven’t been allowed to wear yet) the Christmas present I bought for my wife to give to me 😬, my Seiko SPB097J1. Can’t wait 😜
Glad you like your Chronomaster. I've had one for a few years & not having a functional RUclips channel, the only downside is that it has meant I buy very few new watches! Mine doesn't have that amazing dial but I feel good every time I wear it. So comfortable, light, accurate, the titanium is kind to skin & I really like the looks. Not big & chunky either. Only downside is mine is quartz & the case-back is unique - even my Citizen dealer can't get a tool to open it! Not a problem if yours is solar. Also no one knows what they are. so it's no good if you want to show off. I could care less. Looking forward to the review.
Two watches: Mido Ocean Star 200C as a durable vacation watch and last month I got the call for the Black Bay 58 black/gilt - absolutely surprising for me after two whole years of waiting. So the Mido is kind of obsolete now as a Diver‘s…still a great watch though.
I picked up 2 watches this year. Bought the Beuafort Cavalli in green at the beginning of the year and in October purchased a Hamilton khaki pilot day date, and I love them both. I did sell a Tissot as well
Thanks for this amazing overview. The Casio GDB-200, Baltany, Helm, & Citizen Chronomaster HAQ would be my choices. Looking forward to a review of the Citizen -- and another 52 watch purchases.
I do things a bit differently in Australia. I buy watch bags, watch lots and singles for repair, thrift, yard sales, etc. I've bought over 100 watches just in the last 2 months. But did score a couple Omegas, a couple solid golds, and many seikos, vintage and mechanical watches, that are my favourites. I then give away, donate or sell in bulk the leftovers I don't want, fix, clean and hoard. I don't really have the money to pick and buy a pricey brand new watch, but love to tinker and restore old finds.
And if anyone could help with info, I have a WiLLiNGNOR 21 jewel auto, date, exhibition back, Miyota 8215 movement. Can't find any company info and never heard of Willingnor.
I bought 10 watches and sold and I still have 6 of those. My favorite watch was the Sinn U50 SDR. My worse was an Alpina Seastrong - they send me the wrong style so it got sent back the next day. I also really like the Seiko King Turtle Dark Manta Ray, my Timex Marlin Snoopy, and my recently purchased Mido Multifort.
I bought four watches during 2022. My favorite was panda style chronograph by MT&W that I got by backing their Kickstarter campaign. I also bought my first Eco-Drive watch from Citizen, a barely used basic dress watch with a white dial and rose gold case. I also bought a used Seiko SNK803. Finally, I bought a used Bulova Adventurer. As you may have gathered, I like to peruse Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, etc. for deals on lightly used affordable watches. At 44 mm case diameter, the Bulova is the largest watch I own. It was a good opportunity to try a larger watch though I still have some doubts about how well it fits my wrist. I expect to spend 2023 saving for a more expensive watch on my growing wish list, though I will keep my eyes open for deals.
I only bought 2 this year, a Dan Henry 1945 and a Seiko SPRH77K1. Your new Formex' look fantastic so I'm looking forward to that video, along w/ that of the Chronomaster. Cheers to another year!
I got a Vostok 581 manual winder, the Casio A700, the Helm Miyako and the Orient Bambino Gen 2 in cream. All amazing watches. I may sell the Miyako to get a Signum Ti GMT.
Thanks for the video. I only got into watch collecting this year (2022). I read about the Moonswatch and wanted one, because my father had worn an Omega most of his life (bought when we visited Switzerland on a family trip). I was quite disappointed when I could not buy a Moonswatch and began researching alternatives, which led me to ... Pagani Designs. I bought 10 watches this year, mostly affordable stuff (4 PD, 2 Invicta) but my favorites are the 2 high end Japanese watches: a Casio Oceanus 2600 and a Citizen 8181.
Wow, what's to say. I have a soft spot for the Casio since childhood as well. The seiko and citizens have out priced their welcome these days. Congratulations on the Tudor, it is beautiful. The Hamilton is the nicest you bought all year. Many of them just look like toys. What a crazy world of watches it has become. One thing I've noticed is that you have never to my knowledge had a Swatch on the show., and i do not blame you.
I bought 2.5 watches this year...the 0.5 is for the watch I got as a gift vs being an actual purchase. #1 was an Armitron Griffy, which I love, and is far more fun than its $35 price would suggest. #2 was a Seiko Recraft SNKP23, which I live even more, and I caught it on sale for $135. Lastly, I was gifted a secondhand (but immaculate) Citizen Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer. The Tsuno is out of my league in terms of pricing, so that was a pretty amazing surprise.
I can't recall your stance on open heart watches, but after seeing your Bulova Aerojet video I found the 96A201 and picked one up on sale. No 24h dial, no date, but open heart at 6 so the dial stays balanced. Only thing I don't like about it is that Bulova should have made it 38-39mm and not 41mm.
I bought three watches this year. My grail, a Panerai Radiomir PAM388 that is the only watch that gets any wrist time anymore. Also a Certina DS GMT and one of Marx’s Islander Southold.
Bought several watches this year the one I love most is my Hamilton khaki Auto 38 I got as a birthday present beautiful piece with a flimsy nice bracelet 😂 the crown stem broke directly when I first tried to wind it but the Hamilton customer service repaired it within 5 days including shipping times here in Germany 😅
My tally is 45 bought this year so far and still have them all! All sorts, from a Casio F91W to a Patek Philippe World Timer 5930. The wishlist and hunt always goes on!
I picked up a lot of watches this year, got rid of others. Need to get rid of more this year. The winners are two divers, a Pilots watch, a Field watch, and a dress watch. Lorier Neptune Seiko Samurai, Save the Ocean on Uncle Seiko Razor Wire bracelet Hamilton Khaki King Laco Aachen, limited edition. Vintage Omega Seamaster One thing I did learn though, and that is to stop messing around at the shallow end of the watch pool, so to speak. I bought a ton of these watches and though most of them work, they are hard to sell if you don't love them or get tired of them.
Nice video, I only bought six watches last year. First a Casio GBX-100KI, after that another full metal GMW-B5000, this is one of my daily watches. But after that I saw the titanium version and bought the GMW-B5000 TVA. In the summer another casio protrek PRW 50T ended up in my collection. But Black friday was perfectly timed for a Citizen Eco-drive sports watch. And the last one was another Citizen promaster skyhawk blue angels edition. I like this one, it has a busy dial and 2 little lcd displays.
Love these "look back" videos Jody! I am drawn to my high accuracy quartz from Japan currently also...just purchased my first Grand Seiko. My observation on the Baltany. It seems to come back into stock and quickly sell out again a handful of times since the Ali 11/11 sale. I was able to purchase mid-November and it showed up a few days ago. Put it on an FKM strap straight-away after seeing you Instagram pic. Total purchases for me this year is right at 7 if I am recalling correctly. Cheers!
Love your videos. I'm nowhere close to 52. I think I'm at six. 5 Hamilton's. I sold off several $200 watches and took my collection down in size for the year.
52 watches hollllyyyyy shiiiiiiiii, I bought 3 watches Seiko SNKL23, Casio AE1200WHD-1A, Casio A158W-1. This was the first year I got into watches since I was a kid. Party because of RUclips channels like yours and partly because I found some of my dad's old watches. I tend to wear the AE1200WHD-1A the most. Thanks for the great content and videos !
Having not bought a watch for a year or so...this year I was able to get the Tudor black bay 41, and Oris 65 green dial. Absolutely over the moon with both pieces.
Think these are my favourite videos that you do. Find it very interesting to see what you end up doing with all the watches you buy and which end up staying in the collection. Only bought a handful this year myself - the highlight being a Seiko SPB185 (half price - £530!) love the steel bezel. The lowlight definitely being a Skmei Casio homage which I actually got as I figured it would be better quality than the Casio based on the fact the case is metal (well, zinc alloy) and not plastic - turns out the Casio is miles ahead in looks, quality and finishing. Congrats on the achievements this year and looking forward to more of the same next year!
Just checked and I think I'm at 51 from Jan 1st so may go up in the next 3 weeks. My favourite buy/sell was a Raketa Hammer And Sickle Hands. Although a close 2nd was a Timex Dos De La Meutos.
I'm the Aussie local (actually a fellow Jock) who bought the dodgy Deep Blue Speedograph. Six months on I still wear it for its good points and ignore its bad.
Jody, Thanks for all your videos. Love your channel. I bought one watch this year and one last year. This years was the Pagani Design PD-1694 No-date Sub homage.. It was my worst one. The bezel was misaligned. The bracelet keeps shedding pins. Probably won't ever buy another Pagani again. My best was last years pickup, the Casio EFV 110 D (35mm Edifice.) A really great watch . It's become my go-to daily driver - my GADA watch. I love it!
I bought almost as many watches as you this year and I laughed when I looked down and we were both wearing a square G-Shock. #1 watch ever made by a mile!
I've recently purchased a Baltany dirty dozen in 39mm for £107, and the quality is outstanding with great spec, I actually prefer this to some of my other watches that cost 3 times as much. I would like to see more reviews from you Jody on Baltany time pieces. Another great video, keep up the great work!
I sold my last Rolex this year (stainless steel Daytona) to help fund the purchase of a new car. Unfortunately, I discovered AliExoress and have since bought seven watches in the last 5 months. Loving the Cronos L6005. Stupendous value and great quality.
i bought a few... the one of note is an Avi-8 watch... quartz... those watches are a bit loud for me but the one i got is more subdued and bonus b/c it's a dual time... i was a bit dubious until i got it in my hands... it's a pretty nice watch for what it is... certainly affordable. a bit gimmicky and certainly not a daily driver... but it's a fun watch and i need a bit more levity in my world. thanks Jody! happy new year to you and Mrs. and little JOMWA.
Greetings from Flint, Michigan! My only watch purchase this year was from a pawn shop. A Save The Ocean Samurai srpc93j. The chip shortage has killed my spending in 2022. But, watching your great videos has been therapy for me. I've wanted a Bambino for a bit, but I think it would suffer the same fate as yours 😆 I think I would definitely rock that Cow Head Facial Skeleton, though. I really want my next watch to be a nice GMT, with the nh34.
Totally agree with you on the Casio S100 it’s definitely a keeper. It was my first JDM purchase following your reviews and tbh it’s hard to take off . Importing this one to the UK made it quite pricey but worth every penny. Thanks again for your reviews of this watch it’s stunning.
I feel the same way about Citizen. I picked up a 37mm Garrison Chandler six month ago for $40 thinking it was a perfect beater watch, but it just doesn’t get any wrist time. Love field watches, love the idea of eco drive, but I don’t feel anywhere near as connected to the thing as my SNK - by all metrics a worst watch.
Since I can't get my hands on Sinn due to the situation here, this year I only got 2 new watches, and both of them are Amphibias: 120512 which I'm about to mod soon (I already have another black pvd bezel and an orca caseback for it, also a few nato straps, of course) and 16089 Chernobyl. The 37mm PRX would be on my list too, even though I don't think we'll actually see it anytime soon.
Well Jody, 25 years ago, after 10 years in the Navy, I never wanted to see another watch. I finally said I want a watch. My dad still has his WW2 RAF issue Omega. I couldn't match that so I bought the following: Tissot V8, Seiko 5, Orient Bambino, Sugess 1963 not chrono, 3 Timex (Marlin Snoopy, Waterbury, indiglo), 4 Casios (Royale, Duro, 200, solar), Bulova Marine Star, Citizen chrono, Luch one hander, 3 Pagani Design, Benyar tiffany (after watching your video , yah...), 6 cheap Chinese autos, 2 cheap Sinobi (look nice) and 14 various really cheap ones just to check out different dials. (oh and 5 cheap pocket watches with fun cases eg Deadpool) Best Tissot V8, worst mmm how about least likeable I can't get used to the Luch one hander. I have definitely made up for 25 years of no watch.
Hi Jody, I love that black bay, I will buy the GMT root beer one at some point. This. Year I bought a Steinhart explorer homage, a Bulova moonwatch after I couldn’t get a moonSwatch, and a Zeric voyager. I have also saved enough to buy a Formex Reef, but I will wait a while before I actually buy one. Keep up the great work mate.😎
Was flush with overtime this year so went a bit mad but the ones I can remember off the top of my head. First, the ones i sold are; Traska venturer, tag heuer aquaracer quartz, zelos comet, mitch mason Maelstrom and australis sea shade received this year but bought 2021. the ones I still have are; zelos vitesse and aurora, seiko mm200, an edox north sea 1978, citizen challenge diver, rado captain cook and a san martin nh34 black bay pro homage. A bit ridiculous now I see it written down and there's probably something I've missed. Favourite purchase this year is probably the zelos vitesse and my sleeper hit is the citizen. My bargain of the year is the edox, reduced from 1500 to 500 in a black Friday sale that I'm thinking was a missprice as it was gone instantly and relisted at 800.
Interesting ask. So I counted, six total: 1 Hamilton, 3 Amphibias, 1 Seagull 1963, and an Invicta mechanical (bought as beater). The Invicta I ended up getting for free, long story. But great for a working in the garage, yard, car, woods, etc. that I don’t care if it gets beat up.
How do you keep up Jody!!!🤣 My favourites are your Formex’s. For me I managed 3 new watches this year; 1) A new Helson Sharkdiver, with black dial and applied indicted. 2). A used Ventus (Zelos sister company) Northstar, with a white fully lumed dial. This is a great watch, stunning individual looks, really good build quality and only 150 in existence - so plenty of individualism! 3) A new Nodus Retrospect in the Orange flare. I really wanted an orange dial watch and went for one of these, rather than a Seastern Doxa homage. On the list for next year, a GMT (maybe Christopher Ward, Monta or Tudor). Any other suggestions? And a yellow dial watch.👍
Great video Jody. If I can, I would propose you to buy the 53 watch: it's a Aliexpress watch called as far as I can find "RMALTI NH35 GS style Green Birch". I bought the green linen dial and it's an incredible looking watch with outstanding quality also if it has the usual NH35 inside. It's obviously an homage, a Grand Seiko homage, but it looks a thousands dollar watch
I've only bought one, an RZE Endeavour with a cheeky EBAY bid. I bought a dial colour that wasn't my first choice expecting to be able to sell for not much of a loss. Its still unsized or worn as it turns out l'm not sure about the watch as well as the dial colour
My purchases were - MoonSwatch Mars, MoonSwatch Mercury, Nomos Tangente Neomatik 41 Update and Tudor Ranger on steel bracelet. Not quite 52, but it is ok :)
At least you have the excuse that you run a watch channel, in the last month Ive bought Three Ali Express watches, Two Stuhrlings, Two Ingersolls ,A Panzera chronograph, a Spinnaker Hull ,a Mr Jones, "paper crane" , A Knot red dial LE, A Christopher ward cosc LE, TWO PRX (one Auto) and a Tag Heuer Autoracer!.............I think there is a song in there somewhere! My only saving grace is I did one in one out, well nearly😂 Keep up the good work and best wishes for your first family Xmas.
That Citizen Chronomaster is a stunning watch! 😍 Looking forward to that review. ... and another 52 next year is "normal"; it's all about the chase/the hunt! Great list. Thanks for sharing this love of watches (I live vicariously through you I guess! 😉)
That last Citizen is gorgeous. I have been eyeing the Chronomaster with the red washi dial (AQ4020-54Z) for a while, but limited to 200 pieces and sold out the prices are absolutely ridiculous…
Really enjoyed that, cheers. Who cares if it was 52 watches - it could be 502 as long as you're having fun. Personally I bought 9 this year and sold about 12-15. Best ones were a Boldr Field Medic, Nite Alpha and the Baltany chrono you showed. Take care.
The only one I bought was the Kamasu and it doesn't get used much even though there is nothing really wrong with it. Best buy was a vintage Accurist, after repair its truly fabulous. Great that you covered the Prx hence I didn't get one. Keep up the good work.
On the solar watches and a lot of high end quartz movements will only tick in 2 second intervals because the battery needs changing or it needs changing. The tuna was doing what it is supposed to.
No mate, I even explained it in this video. It was ticking TWICE per second, and not once per two seconds. It was most definitely NOT doing what it was supposed to.
The Baltany: I believe they have intentions of making more! According to their company website, they are looking to do pre-sales starting this month. AND, I was able to pick one up just last week on the AliExpress Baltany store for $150. At the time, they had "10 in stock"....which sold out within a day. So, I THINK there is hope that they are just getting production spun up again(?)
My only watch purchase this year was a grey dial Swiss Watch Company Bunker, which I love. Strangely, I feel like I have enough watches right now, not sure what is wrong with me.
The Formex Leggera is the absolute stunner out of all these, well, next to the GW-B5600 of coarse. Have my eye on the 41mm Forged Carbon but at almost $2800.- CDN with tax it's just not in the cards right now.
I bought one, a Ball Engineer Marvellight. I had a Hamilton X-Wind serviced (questionable and it had to go back because the bezel fell off and the chronograph didn't work after the service so don't recommend, although it's ok now after the second service). I had a gen2 Citizen Skyhawk serviced which I got back this week (again questionable, but you can't get them any more). Not really all new watches, just maintenance and the Marvellight. Waiting for a Cartier Tank to come along at the right price.
Greetings from St George Utah 👋The Last one ,and not the least, the White Citizen Masterchronomater was my favorite of all, that's a good one, I enjoy this episodes, next time I'll get Popcorn 🍿 can't wait for the review looking forward, my goodness the was a lot watches..my last purchase of the year was the 34mm Marathon Mechanical Tritium-WW194003 love this impressive piece.... great collection you have inspired me to keep purchasing, until next time my friend....
I "only" bought 8 watches this year. Favorite: Second Hour Mandala MkII. The re-release didn't get much RUclips coverage, but I think it's one hell of a good looking watch! Disappointment: BYOP Aviator watch. Looks good, but it's just way too chunky, and I have questions about the NH-35 in mine. Just never ran well....
the Second Hour Mandela is a BRILLIANT Watch! had a Salesman At A Grand Seiko Boutique WEARING a Grand Seiko Spring Drive ask me if he could have a look at my watch because he was impressed. on top of that The Miyota Movement in that watch is SOO WELL REGULATED had it on my bench top along with my 4 other Automatics including a tissot gentleman and it was only fast ONE SECOND after 17 HOURS. the Tissots Constantly running upto 4 seconds Slow in comparison
@@justinlangley9522 Seems like we have similar taste! I have a Tissot Gentleman as well, running consistently -2 sec/day. I did have to tweak my Mandala to get it to +3 sec/day instead of -6 sec/day it arrived with....but the Miyota 9000 series is definitely my favorite "budget" movement.
@@tkindschi 100% man! . I must of got lucky with my Mandela like you did with your tissot lol . I've had good luck with all my autos actually . Got a citizen kuroshia 64 with the green dial 8310 movement .. that thing is seriously possessed consistently running perfect time over several hours ..
When are Pagani or San Martin going to make a BullHead, my favourite watch format? I would buy one like yesterday. Bought maybe 17 to 18 watches this year, decided to upgrade my strap collection mostly these last few months and buy better watch cases.
Jody, I bought 3 watches you have previously reviewed on the channel. They are now apart of a very small 3 watch collection: seiko dresskx, 38mm bambino, and the mini turtle padi. The only issue is now I want to replace the dresskx with a san martin explorer! Lol
I had bad luck with the Red Star Bullhead chronograph. Two weeks after I started wearing it, it just stopped. Crown was stuck - suspected that the mainspring went south. Fortunately AliExpress refunded after I returned it. Yeah, Seagull chrono movements are a crap-shoot.
quiet year for me... bought an alpina AL-371NN4S6 - but looking to sell as i don't like the hands on it, and just ordered their AL-372N4S6 last night.. :)
I'm late to watch collection but have you to thank for the countless videos and unbiased reviews allowing me to make educated purchases. I look forward to seeing more reviews and what 2023 will bring! Cheers Jody 👍
That swatch looks great in photos however I could not get one because the shop was over 300 miles away then I saw one and thought thank god I did not get one, I only wish Pagani Design would bring out an anodized aluminum coloured version of these watches what a smack in the eye that would be
I flipped six watches this year (had to double check that) and bought "only" four, two being under $100 USD and one the most expensive I've ever purchased. Not too bad!
The last year for me was trying. For most of it I have been sidelined due to complications renewing my aviation medical, which thankfully I was able to do the end of October. And yet over the course of the year I made several purchases including the most expensive piece in my collection to date -- my Grand Seiko 20th Anniversary Spring Drive Limited Edition GMT with a snowflake dial. At the other end of the price spectrum, after seeing your video, I popped for an Armitron Griffy. Like you said, cheap and cheerful and wearing it really takes me back to my youth! In between there's a Hamilton Jazzmaster Lord Hamilton chronograph, a Marathon 41mm GSAR auto, a Longines Dolce Vita, a Mido Ocean Star Titanium and another GWM5610. I have more than a few watches I'd like to flip and I will have to try that someday. Cheers and looking forward to the next 52!
I am impressed that you can keep up and especially keep the excitement up, Jody. The reason I didn't buy much this year was that I got Yema Skin Diver Superman in late 2021 which started to change my perception a bit towards more expensive pieces - of which I can't buy that many. The Skin Diver apparently wasn't very popular since it still didn't sell out but I absolutely adore it. One watch I did pick up in 22 was a Lorier Neptune, blue version 1. I always found the v2's and v3's to fail the vintage look by beefing up the dial size and never though I'd find a v1, but then suddenly I found it perfect condition and at just $300. I have to say that's getting a lot of wear as well. Citizen? Yeah I could have been a massive fan if not for the "bigger-is-better" trend never seeming to come to an end for that company. Generally much better QC than Seiko for the money but most of their watches that I like are around 44mm. Sad!
Jody is doing God's work by buying 52 watches in a year so I don't feel too bad about my own 30 new buys this year 😅
30 is pretty good going though 👏👏
@@JustOneMoreWatch my bank account might be sweating a bit at that!
But thanks so much Jody. A lot of your videos were crucial in my purchasing decisions. My newest arrival is a Xeric Trappist-1 and it is every bit as fantastic as your review made it out to be.

Miss AliExpress in India , used to order many automatic watches for cheap miss the old time
Why is it banned?

I love the Citizen chronomaster. Best dial I've ever seen on a Citizen. Rivals Seiko dials. Have to admire the accuracy too.
Excellent choice
Cheers!
Consumerism. 💪🏼💪🏼
I didn't buy anything new this year, but I got into beginner watchmaking & restoration. Since June, 1 or 2 vintage watches a month have gone under the knife and most came out pretty good! I've only held onto a couple, including a sweet TV case Timex dripping with late 70's style.
I want to learn watchmaking and repair! May I ask where you are learning the craft?

@@MichaelB-qx1eh I see!! I didn't know it's possible. Now you gave me hope! Thank you for letting me know!
Fortunately Jody whenever I buy watches I rarely get it wrong thanks to your efforts. Cheers!
Awww, thanks mate!
Wearing the Casio Oceanus that I bought after watching your video on it and it has garnered more wrist time than my 50+ other watches. Great watch!
A great spread of styles! Maybe 2023 will be the year I get a presage, but maybe I'll get a Bambino instead 😜
@@Yoshikaable Presage and Bambino are great watches and excellent choices.👍🏼
I’m at 13 for the year but the year isn’t over yet, I’ve got my eye on DW5600 g shock and I really what a Steinhart vintage military. By best purchase is a toss up between my Tissot Gentleman, my Kamasu and my most recent buy ( which I haven’t been allowed to wear yet) the Christmas present I bought for my wife to give to me 😬, my Seiko SPB097J1. Can’t wait 😜
5 watches this year. All keepers. Best: Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer Mechanical. Thanks for a great year in watches, Jody.
12:34 I think you may want to get another GBD-200, if only because you promised us a Part II review of the other workout functions of that watch.
Oh man! So excited for the Chronomaster review. They've been on my grail list for quite some time.
Congratulations on another prolific year!
Lorier Neptune
Seiko Samurai, Save the Ocean on Uncle Seiko Razor Wire bracelet
Hamilton Khaki King
Laco Aachen, limited edition.
Vintage Omega Seamaster
One thing I did learn though, and that is to stop messing around at the shallow end of the watch pool, so to speak.
I ordered my first watch on June 26 (an Aliexpress Red-Star 1963), and including the 3 currently in transit, I bought a total of 31.
I got a Seiko SNK357, what a lovely little watch. Brings smile on my face every time I take a look at at.
You have so many watches coming and going. Would love to see your watch studio/warehouse setup!
9 this year give or take 1. Main buy was the gorgeous Tudor Ranger and then Seiko taking the lions share with Limited Edition releases.
i bought a few... the one of note is an Avi-8 watch... quartz... those watches are a bit loud for me but the one i got is more subdued and bonus b/c it's a dual time... i was a bit dubious until i got it in my hands... it's a pretty nice watch for what it is... certainly affordable. a bit gimmicky and certainly not a daily driver... but it's a fun watch and i need a bit more levity in my world. thanks Jody! happy new year to you and Mrs. and little JOMWA.
That blue dial is still one of the best. Especially in summer.
@@JeeGee114 agreed.
Totally agree with you on the Casio S100 it’s definitely a keeper. It was my first JDM purchase following your reviews and tbh it’s hard to take off . Importing this one to the UK made it quite pricey but worth every penny. Thanks again for your reviews of this watch it’s stunning.
Jory, Chronomaster vs. Grand Seiko quartz would be my ideal video from you. I am dithering between the 2 options.
You certainly have, Darren!
Did you forget to mention the Citizen NB1060? That's a great watch I saw on your channel this year! 👍
How do you keep up Jody!!!🤣
My favourites are your Formex’s.
For me I managed 3 new watches this year;
1) A new Helson Sharkdiver, with black dial and applied indicted.
I've been through 2 PRX this year and haven't settled on either...However, now considering another
My purchases were - MoonSwatch Mars, MoonSwatch Mercury, Nomos Tangente Neomatik 41 Update and Tudor Ranger on steel bracelet.
15 bought this year and sold only one. Really need to change that equation next year!
That last Citizen is gorgeous. I have been eyeing the Chronomaster with the red washi dial (AQ4020-54Z) for a while, but limited to 200 pieces and sold out the prices are absolutely ridiculous…
Best pickup? A 38 mm quartz Torgoen GMT. Oris it the s37mm SKagen?
Really enjoyed that, cheers. Who cares if it was 52 watches - it could be 502 as long as you're having fun. Personally I bought 9 this year and sold about 12-15. Best ones were a Boldr Field Medic, Nite Alpha and the Baltany chrono you showed. Take care.
Glad you enjoyed the T200. I'm loving my SLE mid-blue with the leather straps immensely. Great vid, cheers!
The only one I bought was the Kamasu and it doesn't get used much even though there is nothing really wrong with it. Best buy was a vintage Accurist, after repair its truly fabulous. Great that you covered the Prx hence I didn't get one. Keep up the good work.
Only two watches in 2022: Smiths Commando and Lorier Safari. And the Lorier was bought still during dec 2021.
I bought two casio g-shock g9000 used, one for wear and one for parts, and a new g-shock ggb100. That last Citizen looks amazing.
(Haven't received it yet....still in shipping....)
I've ordered one on ebay, fingers crossed that it's not discontinued, just temporarily out of stock.
My only watch purchase this year was a grey dial Swiss Watch Company Bunker, which I love. Strangely, I feel like I have enough watches right now, not sure what is wrong with me.
That Hamilton is hands down the best watch out the lot. Brilliant little watch
The Formex Leggera is the absolute stunner out of all these, well, next to the GW-B5600 of coarse. Have my eye on the 41mm Forged Carbon but at almost $2800.- CDN with tax it's just not in the cards right now.
Have you taken a look on the citizen ca7040-85l. Very symmetrical pilot style watch with a robust movement.
I bought one watch this year, and it’s been my daily since. Fantastic & doesn’t get enough love on RUclips imho: Sinn 105 3-hander
Bravo Jody
Looking forward to next year’s watches as well. Thanks
Lol
Last watch I bought was in april 2020, the indestructible f91w. I haven’t bought any watch since, buy I have put a battery in an old watch to reuse.
Happy Christmas Dr Jody, it's been a pleasure following every review, your work ethic is impressive, your mum would be proud.
I bought two watches. An Orient Mako 2 and ANOTHER Casio G-Shock 5600 "Square".
Sad!
You're about three months ahead of me on The Citizen, so VERY interested for that review
