It really is a great little card game that just gets better and better with multiple plays. Despite having 100+ games and tending to lean towards heavier games as my favorites, this one regularly hits the table and has become one of my 10 or so favorite games. And great review as always!
I’ve heard this game is a lot like an old Wolfgang Kramer / Michael Kiesling game called Linko. But Scout is good. It’s easy to pull out and play once you know the rules. It’s got a permanent place in my gamebag pocket.
Love Scout, ordered it after the first evening it was brought to the pub. All I would add is that it plays well with 6 (more than on the box) although 2 is bad.
I haven't found the teach for Scout too bad, but it's definitely one that helps to deal out some example hands and walk through the actions you can take on your turn. I also find it helps to deal out the hand strength hierarchy because people have a hard time remembering what beats what unless they see it first. You pretty much hit the big criticisms I had. The game is also quite bad at two-players, and the rules don't do a great job of explaining that variant either. That being said, it's pretty solid otherwise. Scout and Cat in the Box have become the defacto casual games in my local groups.
Always love your videos, thanks for continuing to make them. Regarding the teach in scout: it's certainly not the more familiar card mechanic of trick taking, but i've taught this game to 12 year olds as well as my non-gamer parents who have gotten a handle on things by the second or third hand (within the first game).
I love scout. I agree the theme is terrible lol. We play it all the time before or after bigger games. Its definitely easier to grasp for people who play trick takers a lot. But I feel like after one round people understand it pretty well. What I don’t like is I play this so much that I forget in other games you can rearrange your hand lol
I guess you havn't bought Buttonshy cardgames yet. You pay 12 dollars for literally 18 cards. At least Oink games come with some good quality pieces besides the cards.
@@Fatfrogsrock I would rather support the actual makers of the games and pay a bit more then support some sweat shop workers in China who get paid like 30 cents per hour
Great video about a fantastic little game. And I'm glad someone has finally said the exact same thing about the theme as I think about it, it really is a load of 💩. But dodgy theme aside, a fun little game that should be in everyone's collection.
I love the original scout. It is a fun, simple game. Not a huge fan of the "circus" rebranding it got recently. I think it looks ugly and has a bunch of random names and symbols on the cards that serve no function. The original was so much cleaner and just better overall. The rules haven't changed and it plays completely the same, just the look is a real turn off for the new one. About the only positive thing the new one has going for it is the scoring tokens, but it is not like it was hard to just write down the scores in the original.
Have you played Dealt a.k.a Krass Kariert? That’s what this game was based off and I think the original is still better. I did a comparison video of them on my channel in case you’re curious. Love your vids!
I have to agree that it is a great game, however have played it perhaps 50+ times in less than a year, I have found that the novelty definitely wears off.. it eventually feels a bit like going through the motions, and it just doesn't have the same long term staying power as some other classic card game evergreens that we've played 100s of games like Oh Hell
You say “literally dogshit”- I do not think that word means what you think it means. I don’t know this game, seems like an agreeable filler. Thanks for the recommendation.
That was just in reference to the game’s theme, and I agree with him. The theme is completely tacked on and doesn’t tie into the mechanics much at all. But that’s not really a big issue, the game itself is still a tonne of fun to play.
First time viewer. Lifetime subscriber. Brilliant attitude, presentation. Always helps to feel like you might mash a glass in my mug

That Oscar Pistorius joke was a 10/10

Agree. Our most played cardgame for us 2022. Can't say I had any problem teaching it thou.. Recommend it as well

Well done yet again, great video, great game, and a side of Bollocks.
Best $20 I've ever spent on a game. Gets played all the time at my house.

i can't get my head around paying 20-25$ for oink games....just can't.
This is true. £15 for a pack of flimsy cards is a rip

Picked this up for 4 euro on temu, quality is good n all

Just noticed the acronym at the end, which I'm assuming was on purpose
👍🏻
Got it, love it, recommend it at the shop I work at a lot.
Theme is utter shite but who cares? Just don't play it at two!
Great video!

Not played it…maybe I should 👍🏻

How do I get one of those seats at the back of the room?
It’s not a seat…
@BoardGameBollocks ok I guess so long as I'm not sleeping. Z
It would have been better if the cards were named wanker, tosser, etc..
Wait for the reprint
