David Gilmour puts his money wheres mouth is. He wrote this song about homelessness and years later He sold his house in london and gave all the money to help homeless.
Man... *_MAN..._* *Thank you* for not stopping the song to talk about little parts of it as it goes along. Most songs are meant to be heard uninterrupted in their entirety, and most reactors ruin that aesthetic by stopping and restarting songs at various points throughout. Thank you for NOT being that guy!!
I love your reactions! You really drill down on it. My favorite thing about David he never overdoes anything with his voice or guitar. He maxes quality over quantity. By quantity I mean he doesn't go for the speed shredding or lots of effects added. In this song at one point he does on little tap with his right hand. That and the trem bar.
JM, I have three adults kids that are successful and very intelligent. I would be quite proud to have YOU as my Son. You have all the Human Qualities that make a Man who they are. Tell your parents they can be extremely proud of who you are today.
Richard Wright never trying to play fast to impress anyone. His melodic style is beautiful tones and melodies that are like a Magic Carpet Ride through space. Perfection for this band.
Especially without getting tempted to go berserk and crash all over the place.... a lot of ppl will like to do that during a solo....the right temperament...
This performance is my favourite David Gilmour solo ever. Along with the humanist lyrics it is overflowing with emotion. I can hold it together at first, but at some point in the guitar solo I break down and cry. It is so wonderfully moving. Just amazing!
Hi JMBoy! Brand new subscriber here. In my humble opinion pink floyd is absolutely the most relevant band ever! There isn't a single song by Pink Floyd that has not stood the test of time when it comes to the humanity of it all. Great reaction! Thank you!
I'm a vet and this song recently spoke to me. Truth be told, I have heard it hundreds of times before. I always was enamored by Davids playing, but now it means more than just a song with a superior solo. I suffer from PTSD. I'm not ashamed of it. I know what it's like to almost die, three times. Cancer almost got me; sepsis almost got me, and PTSD is a work in progress. The song you just heard was something that made me realize that God has more for me to do. Those that love me, never turned their back on me. No joke, I have listened to this song every day (often more than once) at least a thousand times. While the lyrics and solo are the forefront of the song, the emotion it is sung with, and the notes played the way they are here transcend the song itself. It is pure emotion. Hear the lyrics, feel the notes. It will move your soul. I'm glad to see you enjoyed this little bit of Gilmour genius. Best to you good sir. -Phantom F4G
@@timothybaxter7392 A brother for another mother! Hey no worries, friend. We got a country to put back together over here. The best is yet to come. #welcome2therevolution
A beautiful song, one of my favourite PF tracks, made even better by the gorgeous Rachel Fury! 😍 David has done a lot of brilliant solos, this is one of his best.
I know it's not just me that Knows David's guitar sound is phenomenal in itself. Let alone the masters out of this world playing. The Stratocaster Master. Undenied.
"On The Turning Away"- David Jon Gilmour On the turning away From the pale and downtrodden And the words they say Which we won't understand Don't accept that what's happening Is just a case of others' suffering Or you'll find that you're joining in The turning away It's a sin that somehow Light is changing to shadow And casting its shroud Over all we have known Unaware how the ranks have grown Driven on by a heart of stone We could find that we're all alone In the dream of the proud On the wings of the night As the daytime is stirring Where the speechless unite in a silent accord Using words, you will find, are strange Mesmerized as they light the flame Feel the new wind of change On the wings of the night No more turning away From the weak and the weary No more turning away From the coldness inside Just a world that we all must share It's not enough just to stand and stare Is it only a dream that there'll be No more turning away?
What a fantastic reaction to a brilliant song. Really appreciate your integrity and understanding regarding pink Floyd and the meaning, emotion and and musicianship behind what makes pink Floyd brilliant
Those who cannot speak or communicate very well are the ones who need the help the most. And those who can help are not able "or do not want" to hear them.
Massive Thanks JM. This performance was a MUST added to your Pink Floyd Playlist. Now you know why I called it the 3rd Greatest Guitar Solo I ever saw live.... #1 Comfortably Numb, #2 Sorrow. The lyrics are thought provoking on a whole new level and combined with those arrangements Nick's drumming and David doing what he does..... EPIC... Legendary
Welcome to the club. Btw. Since than she is called "Lady Margret" cause David also picked up her scream-tone to finish that amazing solo. A masterpiece of music history
Thank you, thank you young man ! You have understood just what a "reaction" IS. This song has reached into your mind and heart..the words and the music have touched you.

The crowd is cheering as Richard starts the song on his keys.... You look at the camera with that look knowing... It's P.F., this is going to be something special.... Yep
I've been been listening to Floyd for more than 50 years and I think what keeps bringing me back is the fact that it's not just the notes that are perfect but the gaps between are too.❤

New Subscriber Here 👋. I Love Pink Floyd and David Gilmore ♥️. He is a Great Guitarist that’s For Sure ♥️. The way he plays guitar on this one sounds like what I think Angels would sound like Crying Down from Heaven. He sure can make that guitar cry. I have requested that my family play this song at my funeral. I hope in that moment my family can Open Their Hearts and See the Suffering in the World. I’ve listened to Pink Floyd for the past 40 years and So Happy to See that they are still getting new fans even today. So Happy You Enjoyed The Song ♥️
It is good to see you on this journey; this is a great band to start with on the path. It is a bit off from some tastes but if you like to hear good music and see a heck of a show, check out Stop Making Sense by The Talking Heads. Just about anything from the Pulse tour is amazing for Pink Floyd but if you get a chance, check out Live at Pompeii.
The production and cinemegraphy of this entire remastered concert video is better than Pulse (which is brilliant) in its subdued lighting)special effects and more attention to the artists. Yeah your facial expressions are communicative enough lol but good to hear your high praise for yet another transcendent masterpiece by them.
But the endless and mindless audience noise nearly ruins it for me. Seppos just can't seem to shut the fuck up and just enjoy the music, unlike the PULSE audience, no doubt mostly British who did not try to be part of the performance and left their egos at the door.
I think that the song debats alot political vs downtroden, and the care that they don't have for the people in need, for example: "And the words they say that we don't understand", "Casting it's shrown over all we have known", "unaware how the ranks have grown". More than normal people repressing people in need, that unfortunatly is also true! Nice reaction man.
Great reaction JM, I saw them live in Sydney Australia on this world tour in 1988 and I can tell you now it's the best concert I've ever seen. And the backing vocals were absolutely sick not easy to dance to Pink Floyd songs but they nailed it. But unfortunately I don't think there will ever be another Pink Floyd? Maybe that's a good thing for history I don't know, unique is the word I suppose? I was working at the time with a Heavy Metal fan that always put them down but after he went to the concert he was hooked lol.
It's always a shame that musicians must explain what our politicians should know and care about. Are you listening? It sure doesn't seem like it. Darkness, Hate, Greed, and War are continually growing.
The endless and mindless audience noise nearly ruins this concert recording for me. Seppos just can't seem to shut the fuck up and just enjoy the music, unlike the PULSE audience (no doubt mostly British) who did not try to be part of the performance and left their egos at the door.
My favourite's one from Pink Floyd, with Sorrow, and Comfortably Numb....A version of 1989, we are in 2024!😢Nothing has changed😢We can all do something to change our world! Even, a little thing! David Gilmour puts his money wheres mouth is. He wrote this song about homelessness and years later He sold his house in london and gave all the money to help homeless.
He also did the same with his guitar. Sold it at auction for millions then gave the lot to charity.
And then bought it back@@SirHilaryManfat

super well put reaction. thats exactly what he is saying. that song is transcendent. further its about the earth and our relationship to it.

Gilmours solo is amazing but Nick Masons drumming on this song is incredible. Such a punchy sound that drives it along.

"On The Turning Away"- David Jon Gilmour
On the turning away
From the pale and downtrodden
And the words they say
Which we won't understand
Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
The turning away
It's a sin that somehow
Light is changing to shadow
And casting its shroud
Over all we have known
Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud
On the wings of the night
As the daytime is stirring
Where the speechless unite in a silent accord
Using words, you will find, are strange
Mesmerized as they light the flame
Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night
No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
No more turning away
From the coldness inside
Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
No more turning away?
Nicely done Alias 👍👍
