What I hate about this season is how many of he significant things (big run, grizzco weapons, WEAPON TRAILERS) were shown on Twitter. And only Twitter. Not on their news page on the Home Screen, Twitter - which people don’t use as often anymore. W H Y
Doesn’t help that people like me who don’t have an account there can’t even see those twitter news as it’s now only accessible for those who already have an account there.
Yeah I want to uninstall Twitter tbh, but so much info comes from there and nowhere else

This is the biggest criticism of Splatoon news, especially with the decline of gaming news channels covering everything in Splatoon. If you were not on Twitter, you didn’t get ANYTHING about Fresh Season. And 99% of the content information for Drizzle right here was also locked to Twitter.
This this this this. Ever since I quit Twitter it's been impossible to follow along and get hyped.
Nintendo needs alternate ways to get that information across. I know most people still use Twitter but the amount of users who have left the site is still significant.
The devs definitely tried to make this season the most exciting one yet, I can't wait to see Splatoon 3 grow even more in the coming months.

I feel like this season could have really profited from map reworks (especially Mincemeat)
I feel like those are still a decent bit out if they're focused on Side Order, as almost all of S2's reworks were post Octo Expansion
I'm thinking more like, Crableg & Shipshape seem like testing grounds for map design for them. Now that they know for sure how well the 2 new maps are received by the players, they have clear references for how they can better improve the existing maps. So I'm hopeful for future maps, new or old.

With Grizzco Dualies existing I hope we get a new dualies weapon in game that has damage dealing dodge rolls like grizzco dualies have.
Honestly the Grizzco dualies are some of the most fun I’ve had in Splatoon in a very long time. I’m hoping for either a weapon with damaging dodge rolls, or a challenge where you can play with Grizzco weapons.

I'm so glad they added another blob! I was really disappointed when I found out it had angle shooter before the update, but it's really grown on me. Having such an immediate damage attack on an otherwise slow weapon makes for amazing combos!
They need to fix the angle shooter reticle so bad though, its why the sub sucks
@@olorin6494 agreed 100%. I don't find the reticle is too bad when firing level to the ground, but ESPECIALLY when aiming upwards its practically unusable. Which I've noticed specifically because of the addition of more maps with elevated grates like crableg.
my optimistic view is that with how safe they played it at launch they might go hard af with the mid season patchnotes or have some items that they werent able to include at the start of the season, nothing as extreme as kits but small tweaks to good parts of stages or the extreme of announcing map reworks
Not even that extreme for map reworks, you’d be surprised by how little it takes to turn these stages from horrible to playable and from playable to good.
I can’t believe 1 year into the game, The Reef or Snaper Canal have not been added into the game 😭 a little sad but honestly I gotta agree, the maps and Sorella BRELLA saved this season 🥺
Lack of Reef SUCKS but I was never a fan of Canal, I think if Undertow got a rework with a side route we'd be fine mostly. Not the worst stage they could bring back but I wouldn’t be overjoyed
I am slightly worried that the Reef will be trapped in S2 as the defining map of that game, like how Urchin Underpass hasn't returned

Honestly, as a casual player, i think this season has been one of the best so far as i think all of the things they did add have been amazing.
The new Splatfest was the most fun I had in a splatfest since the chocolate one! I level up the most out of every splatfest and really enjoyed the game again. Sizzle season didn't keep me as engaged as I didn't even finish my catalog then
400 new titles don’t mean much when you can only get them randomly. Now it’s even harder to get the ones you actually want.
Now it's even harder to get what I really want from the machine........ chunks!
@@ChrisSaldana-lj8sh its not though. The odds of getting chunks is not changed. Increasing the amount of titles doesnt change odds of other things it only makes it harder to get a specific title you want
I think this season is solid in terms of map design and cosmetics, but the weapon kits aren't too strong and the balance changes weren't major throughout the entire game, in my opinion. Sure they did buff and nerf stronger weapons, making them more balanced in both casual and competitive scene, but most weapons from splat 2 have been stripped of their strengths entirely, like H-3 and the splat brellas.
They really need to buff the weapons that have been severed from their strengths from splat 2 in order to really majorly balance the game as a hole.
Kinda stinks that a bunch of weapons have still not recovered from the nerfs they recieved for having MPU damage up in Splatoon 2, like Dualie Squelchers, brella, H-3, L-3 and more
400 titles weren't shown off cause no one cares about lame tags. I've been big coach since launch, don't care of titles. Gimme point sensor buffs
I care about titles and banners. I like having cool titles and alot of the banners in this update are great. Ive disliked a majority of the ones that were in the game before. Though ill agree that this shouldve gone alongside other stuff
Imagine the reason for the better maps was because the devs ACTUALLY ran out of Tetris pieces to get inspiration from 😂
They should just release the remaining of the base game kits next season. It seems like we won't get a third kit for any weapon. Let me remind you that while playing the story mode, this game took every chance to remind you of the 3 in the title. I'm genuinely upset about this.

Honestly a pretty solid season overall IMO
The only tough thing with the new maps is that there will be rotations where you have to stomach the possibility of Mincemeat, Scorch or Eeltail to get the 50/50 chance of Crableg or Shipshape

im not very competitive but blob having angle shooter is really fun imo, you can hit 2 blobs and finish off with a angle shooter and it feels really satisfying, thats just me though 2:04

I'm really loving the new maps, and it was cool to get the Cap of Legend. A couple things I'm waiting for (aside from Side Order) are a new salmonid boss, and being able to play online Tableturf against randoms.
this season had very odd translation issues in the trailer.
"orange swimming cap" for the cap that changes colors to match your ink's, the dark distressed vest just having the exact same name as the original vest, the us trailer showing japanese tableturf cards while the uk trailer had proper english cards except for the inkline tri-stringer which was just directly translated from japanese (tri-stringer collab)
oh and the twitter account posting the big run results like 4 days after it had ended and it wasn't even the correct results (they posted the results from the big run that happened in march). just really weird stuff behind the scenes

I wonder if we're seeing a similar situation to Splatoon 1's maps, where what we're seeing now is primarily stuff worked on post-launch while what we saw before was mostly pre-launch. There was a pretty significant jump when that happened there too!

I think this season was ok with most of the updates, the maps are definitely the best, I mainly feel bad for the weapons that STILL don't have a second kit after a whole year

The thing about having 400 titles is that... it's not something ANYONE was asking for. And having 400 means they're probably putting more effort into it than they should.
Yep, and it makes it harder to get some of the existing titles because now the lottery pool is bigger. I just want my weapon title! 😢

Having more titles and customization is always good however i will admit these titles and banners should have come with yk everything else like a bunch of new gear n such and ill admit that while the new titles are nice yea the fact you can only get them via shellout is bad. I wish nintendo would just let you make a title you want for like 100,000 gold or something. Expensive enough to where its a bit of a grind but not too expensive to where you can easily obtain every title. Quickly
@@NotSnak buying titles would be cool, kind of like the locker decorations. They could make the titles decently pricey so you still have to go through the shell out machine but it would give you another way to get them. Let's hope they add that in a future update!
@@Ashsams being able to buy the titles and banners you want for a fairly heavily increased price compared to shellout would legitimately fix all the issues i have with the system as a whole. I dont mind having to spend alot to get titles and banners if its the ones i want. And if i want to get banners and titles cheaper i can roll on shellout yk.

Personally to me, I think that the Salmonid Smokeyard is the worst map in Salmon Run, I have had so much terrible experiences on that map alone that I absolutely hate it every time it's in rotation
Splatoon 3 have a bright future ahead of itself plus I can't wait see how Side Order turns out in its gameplay and lore.

I still think the grizzco Dualies are the equivalent to a laggy dapples player.
Make no mistake, the stages were what made or broke this season. If they had been mediocre or bad, this season would've been seen as mediocre or bad! Because we've been so starved for competent map design, this season feels better than it realistically should, simply because we FINALLY got two decent maps to play on!
What I wanted to see in the patch notes was them going through almost every bottom tier weapon and giving them...something. I am a dapples nouveau main and I dream of dapples sliding like squealchers or having a third roll almost like Tetra. I almost wish they knew how to change kits we already got, and were just so careful that they were all balanced. 😔, A dapples can dream...
I do like the weapons I just wish theirs more verity in the updates and I hope that they’ll have dualies with fizzy and kraken

After the Mahi rework, splatfest, and upcoming Splatoween event, this might be the best season yet.
With the improved map design, the very small great things we got, and the potential buildup to a Splatoon 2 update in a future season I get the feeling this small season is walking so the later seasons can run.
If Nintendo can properly deliver in future seasons I can see this one simply being the “fine-tuning and checking to make sure our direction is ok” update.
They are and the game is growing and getting better at a positive rate

I think the way this season has shaken the meta up is really good, it was already very diverse and in a good spot, and this made it even better, and the maps they added were absolutely home runs this time around. Where this patch falls short I feel is the number/quality of the kits added, 8 mostly mid kits is a huge bummer, but the two new weapons at least were fantastic

Tbh they added more stuff like banners only for gambling reasons. Like seriously i doubt its for anything else but nice side effect is more customization.
I truly had hoped this was the season where Nintendo finally made more time slots for Challenges. They had a whole season to work out kinks with Challenges. I'm disappointed that doesn't seem to be the case, with the cool Challenges only accessible if you're on the West Coast.
I feel like next season could be really interesting in terms of kits, as most of the remaining ones were strong or really fun in previous games.

I like this season I think it’s decent but all I wanted was more kits I think I’d complain a lot less about this game if updates were like this but had 1.5-2x as many kits also soda slosher pls!!!
While i’m not a fan of the lack of kits or the catalogue being half new, i think i had a lot of fun with this new season, the new maps and shirt style have been a great surprise overall and I’m enjoying it so far

Well, because it's not a new kit for an existing weapon. Just another candidate to get a new kit later.

I really really hope that with all the positive reception the new maps have gotten, the devs won’t revert back to cramped hallway maps for next season
I can't believe I'm saying this, but this season did what I wanted every other prior season to do- get me back into the game. I think the reason was that I played it once to try out the new stuff, then there's big run a few days later, then a splatfest a few days after that, and due to all of that I thought I may as well keep playing. I don't even really like the new weapons added, I played both, like, once and didn't like them and I don't care about almost all of the kits. The stages were fine but nothing special to me personally too. I think it's just the stratagy of loading the first week with exciting events kept me playing long enough to get back into the game fully, something all the other seasons failed at. I feel I'll be kept entertained for at least a few more weeks, and hopefully more since I'm truly enjoying myself with Splatoon again.
considering that the update has been better im guessing that their starting to get close to side order's final state which if we get an even better update next season than that could be a sign that side order is coming in the next maybe 3-5 months
It's hard for me not to see this as the weakest season yet, predominantly because of the kits. While the stage design may have improved, the kit design continues to represent the really unhealthy idea of deliberately designing kits to be bad, where they come up with 2 pieces of a kit and deliberately slap the worst third piece on the kit that they can. This permanently dooms these kits to low tier placements, and also makes them feel unfun to play because the kit lacks cohesion. If you look at all of the strong kits since the game's launch, they're ones where the design of all three pieces of the kit makes sense, but unfortunately these sorts of kits are vanishingly rare.
I also feel like we've set a really low bar for the Splatoon 3 stages in a way that kind of makes it clear that Splatoon 3 is the weakest of the three games. When you say "wow, this looks like a Splatoon 1 stage" or "this looks like a Splatoon 2 stage" as a form of strong praise it basically just shows that those games were generally a lot better. We've already given up on Splatoon 3 having its own identity, the hope now is just that it can merely imitate the things the other games did well. Will anyone say "wow, this looks like a Splatoon 3 stage" non-ironically when Splatoon 4 comes out?
The pacing of content has been kind of ridiculous too. It's not really acceptable that after a year this game still has fewer maps and kits than Splatoon 2. It shouldn't take more than a year where it still feels like we're playing a gimped version of the previous game with a lot of stuff missing.
Splatoon 3 is the strongest in the series and I have heard nothing but positive feedback with each update in this game

Drizzle Season 2023 is the best season i've ever experienced! it's my favourite one so far.
we got new kits for weapons that didn't get attention since launch. you know, Brellas and (more importantly for me) Stringers?
the new maps... my *CODFISH! they're my new favourites! easily in the Top 3 with Mako Mart. they are pleasing to look at and traversing them is fun.
i'm a simple lad: i like maps that are fun to navigate; make me explore and find good sniping perches.

I've been playing a ton of this season and having a lot of fun (going through the catalog faster than I ever have), but I feel like I'm probably gonna drop off the moment all the special events end. The maps were a really plesant surprise, but I'm not sure its enough.
Honestly it's still kinda wild to me how much they could've improved both this season and the previous one by just letting us play challenges more. I'm gonna call it now, I bet they aren't even going to feature any of the challenges from last season in this one, not even the extreme jump one.

No one talks about all the new titles, banners and locker decor added this update, which is where a big bulk of the content this season came from, and yet it wasn't advertised in the trailer, just days before the season dropped.
Compared to other seasons? This one falls behind, but more general stuff to get and acquire now did save it from being bad imo.
Despite the many flaws, this season is a blast for someone who doesn’t really play that much competitive.

We can all agree it's spawning grounds, right? Right???
That's because... it is. It never fails to have genuinely awful weapon rotations. The new enemies and even older enemies suck on this map. The fans to get back on top of the ship are garbo. Spawning Grounds is just annoying with the shore specific enemies. Smokeyard is actually very fun by comparison.
@@superpokefan9567 marooners bay is really easy. Fish sticks and flipper floppers are pretty free on the map big shots are the only worry. Which theyre a boss you want to take out asap anyway. You use your specials to take out the far away bosses like stingers and flyfish. Or if you really need to. DO NOT USE THE FANS very early in the wave? Sure. If the first spawned boss is like a stinger do it. But after that generally stay on the boat. If you absolutely have to. Then use the fans but try to avoid using them Going out of your way to get off the boat and kill bosses is not only slow. It attracts other bosses to you which will make bringing those eggs slow aswell. Far too often i see this happen and we lose to quota.
Obviously kill threats like flyfish and stingers if you can and can do it relatively risk free but generally stay on the boat and bring all the bosses close to the basket. Additionally most event waves are very easy on the map the only hard one is grillers
Its really not too difficult of a map and its not awful to play on if you know what you're doing. It requires a lil bit of a strategy change compared to normal salmon maps
@NotSnak Nothing is going to change my mind that Marooners is the worst stage in the game. Just strategize doesn't cut it when randos, weapon rotation, your assigned special, and the waves are all up to rng. The map being terribly put together on top of that is just icing on the cake. Spawning Grounds is much more tolerable. I don't see how it's the worst stage.
@@superpokefan9567 with that logic you can argue every map in salmon run is bad because of it all being up to rng. The mode is inherently rng based. Given what bosses spawn and the specials you get, its your skill with the weapons that are in rotation. Your knowledge of when to use specials and general experience with the map layouts should be the deciding factor of whether you win or lose. Are some rotations easier with certain weapons? Yea definitely i wont deny that. But saying a map is bad bc its rng dependant when this is true about every map is silly.
The map just requires you to play differently than normal salmon run maps that does not make it bad

Just to point out. At 7:00 you showed them advertising the deep cut banners to players, that never happened for those in europe (I'm in the UK and I never got it, and from what I've heard neither did anyone else in europe)
i think the amount of weapons added is fine. its 10 new weapons which there could be more but they're all fun weapons unlike some in the past. this season only added one less new weapon than sizzile which isnt much. chill season added alot but alot of them were bad.
I don't really like Crableg because I haven't found me steps on it yet, but having actual maps makes it SO MUCH BETTER! Maps and Ranking system/lobbies are my main problem that drove me away from the series. It's nice to see a big step forward after 1 year of S3
They could just add The Reef in the next content update and I would be more than happy.

honestly, my only problem is that shipshapes feels a bit small, which definitely hurts rainmaker and tower control the most, but aside from that the maps and this season seem really good so far

Personally of all the Big Run stages, Um’ami was my least favorite.
On HT, there was literally only one place where salmon spawned. It was not very interesting. On LT, they technically spawned in 2 places but it was pretty much 1 place because of how close they were to each other. Dealing with stationary bosses like stingers and flyfish were terrible because if you didn’t pop a special to deal with them, you would lure every boss away from the basket trying to kill them. NT was decent tho imo. What made NT and LT really annoying is the big shots. As I said before, dealing with stationary bosses sucked on LT, but it was worse with big shots because even if you managed to kill them, the eggs launched in the cannon went like 2 feet away. The same happened for NT.
What I like about Big Run is that it tests how well teams can coordinate with the technical aspects of Salmon Run. That’s what I think Undertow Big Run did really well. Um’ami, however, really didn’t have much, so that’s why I didn’t like it.

The splatfest also felt underwhelming
the new maps make this the best season imo
At this rate......I just trying to stay positive and just enjoy whatever comes on in content. I know I sound like I don't care but I'm just being careful here. This season content to me is pretty good and enjoy the stuff they added known and unknown even with Nintendo's missed info. I kinda figure that this would be either a up side or falling from grace and now...its like in between still...i dont know how Im gonna enjoy this game...
Season could had honestly been advertise better. Which yeah I kind of think when they were making the season trailer it was kind of rushed out. But overall it nice and I did have some positive reception when playing with my group of friends.
I think the only thig that "saved" it for me was the events. Once this fest is over, I feel like it's gonna drop off pretty quickly for me.

Loved the 2 new maps, specially how open crag is.
Salmon Run is my fave mode and the returning maps is pretty fun and Big Run was very challenging in the ruins. Good times.
Not much else to say, just hope Side Order comes soon
I was really surprised how good this season was considering how horrible the marketing was for it

No it's hard to explain like one of my friends starts to do really good while I'm doing pretty decent but then I'm told I'm throwing

it's pretty bad for an anniversary/year update since at this point we have less than what 2 has.
stand alone... it's a pretty alright update. The good it brings is almost enough to bring it to the best season, yet it really didn't bring much so it's about the same as the other seasons imo. It's amazing that the maps are good, it sets the precedent for future maps, gives hope for old maps, and worst case scenerio we now have two fun as hell playable maps.
None of the kits and new weapons really appeal to me, which impacted my personal rating negatively. I guess it's still fresh and fun figuring out the new match-ups against my mains though.
Crableg and Shipshape are definitely THE highlight and I want to play them as much as possible. I want to see all mapmodes!
I really, really wish we would've gotten a new King Salmonid. That was singlehandedly what made the Inkblot Big Run so memorable for me. The Grizzco Dualies are fun too, but Wildcard rotations, even partial ones, are few and far between, whereas Kings can be encountered anytime.
