I woke up this morning, and all I had was gone. That is the Blues, and Cream were the greatest Blues trio ever.
    They will never be surpassed.

These guys were Great in 1967 and now as Seasoned Players evan better. i think a tour would be fantastic. I watch my double set of DVD's of the 2005 gigs at least twice a month. 43Yrs of Cream and still as sweet and savory as ever. Mmmmm!

I think this is one of the most extraordinary parts of history in the mid 20th century. The offspring of WW2 veterans and Grandsons and Granddaughters on WW1 veterans found the Black American Delta Blues. The world has never been the same and way better off because of it!

I was 17 it was 1962 and I was thumbing thru albums at a thriftys drug store. Saw three crazy looking guys on the cover of an album called Fresh Cream, read the back, It said Eric clapton jazz guitarist of 7 yrs. from England.
Ginger baker jazz drummer. I said I have to check this out. Went home to my parents house, took a toke of some good Mexican weed layed down on the floor with my headset and crank it up. I think my head exploded that day.

To put this into a historical perspective, the youth of 1960's Britain who had their Dad's fight in WW2 and Granddad's fight in WW1 all of a sudden became entranced with American Black Blues music from The Mississippi Delta. It ignited the Rock N' Roll British Invasion. This band was Blues based and that is what you are hearing.

This is amazing for this trio of, now, much older men, but the original Cream live recording of this has a kind of manic, primitive energy that makes your hair stand on end, especially when Jack and Eric are wailing without any words
No doubt Muddy Waters had gotten ahold of some ancient African American ritual music that goes back many millennia into our collective subconscious.
To me, this piece captures what Clapton heard in the blues, that became his life’s mission.

Thanks for posting this vid. I was only around 10 when Cream was big, but in my teen years they were my favorite group.
I think one of the things that made Cream so special was that in Ginger Baker, Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton, you had one of the greatest drummers, bassists/vocalists and guitarists of all time, respectively. Great instrumentals, great vocals, tons of raw power, blending blues and rock. Man, that trio had everything. Blind Faith was great, too, but Cream was no. 1.

For those interested it was Zoot Money that first referred to Hendrix as looking like the 'Wildman from Borneo' to his wife..no malice in it as that had been a film from the 40's and he was saying that Hendrix looked like the character in it as he (Zoot) was shocked by Hendrix's appearance. The tag stuck and Hendrix apparently even tried to live up to it....Read Claptons autobiography before slating him and you will find how much Hendrix meant to him! ;)

There are many imitators, but only one original, and that's Cream. Others followed their formula, but Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker, and Eric Clapton were the wizards who brewed up this magic potion of music. Strange brew indeed!

I know so many guitar players who would give their left arm to play like him...except that would defeat the purpose...nobody popular from 2008 will register in musicians' minds in 2048
