      I saw one of these shows at MSG. They were amazing. Jack Bruce was a one man rhythm section. I just wish Clapton played the blues more often. After 1970 he went elsewhere and never really came back.

    Ginger Baker's drumming is understated genius! The way he subtly handles the first verse then takes it up a notch is nothing short of drumming brilliance! Drummers, take note - you don't need to do a hundred fast fills to be good. Listen to the master!

    Eric Clapton is actually quite the singer. Not flashy but that's the tradition of the original blues singers. He has a good range and a tone that's very welcoming and easy on the ears. I've never heard a bad note sung by him and that's more than I can say for Robert Plant. His singing is very soulful and a nice counterpoint to his guitar playing.

    • @alfalfa19
      @alfalfa19 7 лет назад +18

      I agree. I always thought Jack was the vocal strength of Cream, but seeing youtube videos, I feel Eric was equal to him.

    • @theblackstoneproject9917
      @theblackstoneproject9917 7 лет назад +28

      Jack has that semi-classical singer vibe (the control and vibrato) in his singing which I love. However, Eric Clapton's voice always seems just right for the song. Blues Power has a surprisingly powerful and passionate vocal from him, not to mention Layla. His upper register can be very gritty and can sound like a passionate cry when he wants it to. It can also be very warm and actually a bit like Andy Williams at times.

    • @RelaxingKorean

      The Blackstone Project I agree. He has such a soulful voice.

    • @JooJooShrimp
      @JooJooShrimp 6 лет назад +23

      A big percentage of Cream listeners tend to have some bad feels for zeppelin but just mentioning Clapton and Plant in the same sentence concerning vocals is just unacceptable. BTW even Jack Bruce called Robert Plant 'one of the all-time, if not THE all-time, great rock singer' after bashing Zeppelin and admitting jealousy on his part.

    I have heard the secret of Cream. I never thought I'd see the real musical three way interactions of the real live Cream. I've heard them, tried to emulate them from recordings. This? Truly humbling.

      jgroub1 You HAVE to be kidding.... Jack Bruce, Ginger Baker....best rhythm section ever. Clapton would have been just another guy who played in the Bluesbreakers if not for hooking up with these guys in the mid-60's. Before there was Clapton, there HAD to be Cream. Do some homework before making silly statements.

    • @jgroub1
      @jgroub1 9 лет назад +2

      No, he had to hook up with a decent bassist and drummer before becoming "Eric Clapton." Any old decent bassist and drummer would have done. Tell me, how many hits did Bruce or Baker have after Cream? Right, just what I thought.

    • @RayManzarekRocks
      @RayManzarekRocks 9 лет назад +2

      jgroub1 Similarly, how many hits did Clapton sing or write early in his career? In that regard, Bruce carried him. That's what made Cream one of the greatest rock bands ever -- as great as the individual parts were, the sum was even greater.

    • @garystackhouse5787
      @garystackhouse5787 9 лет назад +1

      Because it's all about "hits" with you? Baker and Bruce were in a league of their own. "Decent" bass players and drummers learned how to fill the space so a guitar player could fly like Clapton from Baker and Bruce!

    Still on top of their game, so good that they got back together for these shows. I always thought Eric's singing was underestimated.

    It's 2023 and Clapton still ROCKS! Thank you T-Bone Walker. I love when Clapton sings and plays the Blues, I'm comparing him at a young age who is older videos and he just keeps getting better and better. He is the only musician that I know of that has played with more people than anyone else has. I would have loved to seen him play and sing this with T-Bone Walker. Unfortunately T-Bone died at a very young age.

    5’21” to 5’41 is the dog’s bollocks! Clapton’s repeated single note wail is one of THOSE moments. He works so hard in the Power Trio format; he HAS to fill out the sound. With Jack and Ginger, you KNOW it’s going to be great. I’d argue it’s his greatest playing for years...

    Yes indeed, Czech this out.....Ginger and Jack, not to leave EC out of it by any means, were the backbone of Cream. Saw Ginger Baker's show a couple of months ago at ACL Theater here in Austin. As ill as he was/is, he blew the roof off the building. Not a dry face in the crowd that night.
