"Farewell Concert" is the live recording of the Cream's final concert at the Royal Albert Hall on November 26th, 1968.
Directed by Tony Palmer, the film incorporates pieces of six performances with narration by BBC announcer Patrick Allen, along with interviews with the band members themselves, showcasing their playing abilities.
The film has often been criticized for both its mediocre sound and visual effects.
In 2005, a special extended edition of the concert appeared featuring full versions of all songs separated from the narration and interviews. The new version featured digitally remastered sound and video including three bonus songs. Видеоклипы
The fact Clapton could literally look like a different human being every week then is impressive as fuck.
He really did. Could be about 15 different people and about 5 different age groups in the same 6 month span.
eric clapton, bladee, and ted bundy are shapeshifters
@@envy928 Yes. For real.
Maybe hes ODO from DS9 LOL
He keeps getting killed in car wrecks and then they got to replace him.
"what do you mean? you want me to break the guitar up?" HAHAHAHAHA gotta love Clapton
He looked like he was ready to do it too. Haha
Alex Crim yeah hahahah, but i think it desserves to be in r&r hall of fame
Clapton changed his hairstyle every week in the 60s
Eric is a character not a real person.
So did everyone else 😊
And Guitars
"el hombre de mil rostros" es como me gusta llamarlo hahaha
Some prettier than others
Clapton during this period was unequaled.
Clapton is god all over England!
23 years old soul in a face of 38 years old dudes. 60s people are insanely matured !!!
I think that we should all be grateful that Eric Clapton is still with us. When you think about all those who've gone, from one thing or another, it's really amazing he's still here
Rest In Peace ginger baker

Rires ! Pauvre idiot !
Guy invented the sound and look of 70's heavy metal.
Has anyone else noticed the cigarette.....that the guitar is smoking..... one bad ass guitar.
Yes I never knew that's what they did but unless ur like Slash u would just let it hanging from ur mouth
That's how I do it
You'd need a cigarette too if Eric just got done fingering this shit out of you.
The guitars nerves were rattled that it was being handled by the master!
"Yeah, let me turn this thing off" Kicks the shit out of it

lajmaidnapdne I laughed so bad for that
The classic cigarette on his guitar 🎸
Cream was so damn good.
Clapton was at his best during this time.
It soothes my soul knowing that there are people that like same things in guitar sound and playing. Makes me feel not alone
I have watched this like 20 times. Such a satisfying sound.
That Cream Era Clapton tone!
@@markj6506
The tone was good, but the
playing was over the top incredible for the times,
still holds up today, he can't even play the crossroads
lead today... lol
I'm a millenial, but grew up loving oldies. When I picked up guitar in my teens, I learned to love the blues through playing it as an easy avenue toward learning lead techniques. My first blues record was Five Live Yardbirds. I introduced myself to Clapton through this record. Only now, in my thirsties and after trying to play like other guitar greats that I thought I liked better, I've come to terms with the fact that of all the great guitarists, Claptons style most resonates with my natural abilities. My brothers would refer to me as Clapton, cuz I didn't realize how much listening to cream and the yardbirds had influenced me. Now I'm content to play Claptin style. I'll never sound like Page.
Have you listened to the real deal? Exponents were good back then. However, listening to the real blues players is a completely different experience. You learn how to really play. If you haven’t listened to the real players I suggest The Chicago Blues legends and the delta blues.
Five Live Yardbirds, one of the greatest live albums ever. Raw power, in 65, mono recording! Still a heavy hitter! Cheers!
Yes, i have listened to chicago and delta music, heavily. I love Otis Rush, Howlin Wolf and the rest. But delta music is my true favorite. Skip James, Fred McDowell, and non delta acoustic guys, like Rev. Gary Davis and definitely Blind Willie Johnson @stella3265
I've learned more about how guitar works from this interview than my entire time of being a music fan.
Very cool to have Clapton give you a guitar lesson
from 1968-in 2011!!
Friend from 1968 to 2023 and beyond Eric Clapton is still with us, but we just lost Jeff Beck in January of 2023.
Thanks Jeff.
You Surrey boys sure played mean guitar if you count lil ol' Jimmy Page too.
RIP

Its a killer sound !!! Nobody sounds like eric Clapton
I agree. Eric probably not getting a lot of credit he deserves.. especially in the guitar effect tone department. Just like my hero , Mr. One an only Gary Moore.
That's right coz he can't shred very average.
Yah coz he can't shred very average ..Gary Moore my choice blues player ..
Gary Moore perfect of blues can shred ..both finger moves..5 finger..Eric only 2 finger or 3 very slow ..
This version of Steppin,' Out always sounded like to me that it was the real last time he would play this spontaneously and straight from the heart. Everything after that night to my ears never quite seemed to be as raw and intuitive. But here, he just flies. So beautiful.
Damn incredable. When this was filmed Clapton was a legend and no one could touch his talent for the guitar. Hendrix was very close and Eric knew it.
Brilliant stuff; because he's been around forever it's easy to forget how great he is. Wish I owned that 335.....
God that wah wah is so sweet and beautiful, Clapton conquered the jangley noise machines
One of the best in my life and I'm just past 70 years young and was free easy and playing from 1961 until now!! Started in1962 with false ID and never looked back!! Cream was for sure one of the greats!! Never hear this anymore nowadays!!!
Clapton..often imitated...never duplicated
Clapton’s “thin” sound is still thick af
It's thick as a brick man.
This man is his music. There's no separation between Clapton and his guitar.
You are dead on.
Clapton did play great at the Cream reunion show at the Royal Albert Hall.
It was the best that I have seen him in years.
I went to see Buddy Guy at his club here in Chicago one night and Clapton came on stage as a surprise.
THAT was a great night!
Claptons playing was so ballsy back then I wish he never changed his style.
I have watched EC at concerts in all his band starting with the Yardbirds and through to
the present day excluding Delaney and Bonnie and he has never disappointed ever
He has been such a star all that time. I count myself very fortunate. Thank You EC
wow,1968,slash still a baby,eric clapton guitar God
Slash is overrated 80s music started sucking donkey dick clapton the 60s a d 70s forever fuck slash and guns n roses
The day may come, if you're a young rocker, when you'll hear one of Clapton's mellow, contemporary ballads on the radio and think, "What's the big deal?" Put on "Steppin' Out." And bow down.
yeah and there version of crossroads

Ah, how about just about the entirety of The Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton. Untouchable then, untouchable now. Be happy that it was recorded and you got to hear it.
I always felt Clapton's best playing was in Cream and The Bluesbreakers.
Jack, Ginger and Eric certainly drove each other to increasing heights during those days - my favourite period. As sad as it was when Cream broke up, it's difficult to imagine that energy continuing to build up and up. Maybe synergy starting to go too far?

i guess im randomly asking but does anybody know of a way to get back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the account password. I appreciate any help you can offer me!
Clapton and Hendrix are the true master of the wah pedal, no doubt about it
I agree, except you need to add Jeff Beck to that list.
Eric is a very cool person. Heard a radio interview with him. He just sounded like a real cool guy. You know what? That's just about all you can do in life...
I just never get tired of watching that interview with Eric; seeing and hearing him wail on that SG. That solo of him later in the clip, playing the ES-335 at the RAH concert, was really nice.
Eric was 23 here , jesus and was already one of the best to do it.
This video really hits home to me.This how I learned how to play when I was 15 yrs old, listening to my Cream records. And because of that learning experience,my finger vibrato is second to none.I didn't realize how important it was until a few years later.I have to say,I'm thankful that I grew up when I did, from a musical stand point any way.
He seems happy, lucid and cool here. His best period.
This is the real spinal tap interview
Too bad that's the only reference point you have. Clapton ( along with Baker and Bruce) were virtuoso players who lifted rock up to where many influences could penetrate. maybe when you finish junior high you will get it.
Funny It's been so long since junior high Im feeling a little blush running to my cheeks :)
@@jsilence418 Cool it oh, "old wise one"
Marisa. No it is not the real Spinal Tap interview. That interview would be with Spinal Tap 45 years later.
The sustain….just listen to it…you would though, if it were playing.
"I went to see Buddy Guy at his club here in Chicago one night and Clapton came on stage as a surprise.
THAT was a great night!

Well said. That's what it's all about, joining together to enjoy rather than saying so and so is better than so and so.It's all about the muisic and getting together.
Eric's playing has never been the same since he started playing a Fender Stratocaster, especially since the Clapton signature model came along with the 'Clapton boost'. No more Woman Tone, just woo woo woooo...
YES! I have saying the since I was a kid. Clapton was great with a GIbson. His Fender playing sound weak and nasally.
running man
You know your music and yes I agree that Live at the Fillmore East was amazing. '57 Strats sound amazing when played through the correct amp.;
Nostaticatall Nostatic no he played a les Paul on that
Nostaticatall Nostatic i can understand as he did use a red 335 mainly during the cream year but the les paul he used was called lucy and is one of the most famous guitar's of all time
+FUCKING God didn't Lucy get stolen or something like that?
Fuck. I come back to this video every couple of months juts to hear the tone. I've been chasing it since I started playing
The 29 who gave this a thumbs down, need to watch it again! They might actually learn something!
Also keep in mind...he was only 23 y.o. at the time this was filmed!
OMG !!!! On freakin' fire! I saw them. We saw everyone in San Francisco. Unbelievable. And Jack and Ginger....my God.
Cant beat those 'Electronic Guitars'
Jangling noise machines
Considered the best guitarist in the world at that very moment. It's astonishing how the next couple years will see guitar technique explode to another galaxy..!
It's because Eric blazed a trail 4 everyone.
Van Halen was a huge fan of his, go figure.
Hendrix had just released Electric Ladyland at this time and All Along The Watchtower was in the singles charts, I don't think Clapton was considered the best guitarist in the world at that moment, maybe the best of the rest.
That tone is awesome.
Absolutely, fabulous performance music. Master quitar Eric Clapton.
my hero ive played guitar for over 15 years because of Eric Clapton the god of guitar got so much inspiration from him.
everyone talks about how good his sg is but it's only that good because he makes it sound the way he does by how he plays. never doubt the power of practice
A genius right from start❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂
when he demonstrates, his playing and tone sound like no one else . Yet over the years many have tried to sound like him , hard to explain that to some of these tin eared knuckleheads that comment here.
The only way to sound like guys from the 60’s and 70’s is to simply just get a super lead through 4x12’s and sheer volume. Which with sound men today is almost completely unachievable unless you’re playing stadiums in a “guitar led” band.
@@aaronbrooks3913 indeed, the point of breakup is simply unachievable since you're doomed to play at lower volumes, which just sucks tbh.
@@bleakcandour the new dr z maz mkii achieves these similar tones at much lower volumes. Great little amp.
@@bleakcandour Or you could use a variac to lower the voltage, à la Eddie Van Halen. Still loud as fuck, though
I learnt SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much from just THIS video
Hendrix was obsessed with the troubles that Jeffrey and company brought to his life and career. The? band's finances were entirely controlled by management and were depleted by a tax haven in the Bahamas founded in 1965 by Michael Jeffrey called Yameta Co., a subsidiary of the Bank of New Providence, with accounts at the Naussau branch of the Bank of Nova Scotia and the Chemical Bank in New York.(14) A substantial share of the band's earnings had been quietly drained by Yameta.
The tune of this guiar is just amazing..
thanks Tom, was lucky enough to see him play in this era.......certainly a mentor !
eric killing it on lead guitar!!
When EC started talking about the volume and tone controls for each pickup, I was reminded of the “interviews” in “This is Spinal Tap”, expecting to hear that the volume and tone can be turned up to 11. LOL!
Stone Age man would be frightened by this, but then he would start groovin to it,
and then he would probably start banging on his drum, and dancing around.
Cream reached deep down into a primal part of the human mind, heart, and soul.
One of kind band that will never be eclipsed, or duplicated.
Groove hippies.
He blows me away amazing man ❤❤❤
Eric has a love/hate relationship with his gear.
"I have to kick this to start it"
*bang*
"Let me just turn this thing off"

That's how you turn the pedals on and off
I had an old original Vox Wah-Wah pedal and, yes, you had to press it rather hard to kick it on... Wish I sill had that Wah!

First time seeing this since I went to see the movie in '69! Still awesome as all hell!
I've seen him .One of the greats
Clapton looks like about 3 different relatives of mine. You’d never guess that such an unassuming looking person could be in possession of such an incredible talent. Hard work pays off, you can tell he lived on that fucking fretboard
Of course he did , he said from he was 17 till 23 he never had a guitar out his hand , didn’t go out and socialise , he just listened to blues and played .
You see the debate a lot: “meh, Clapton isn’t that great” vs “Clapton is the greatest of all time!”. The truth is, he was the greatest of all time, before the drugs got him. It’s great that he survived and continued. But he has never had that fire and drive he had during this time. Or the tone. He was a true phenomenon in his 20s.
I don’t know if drugs really had much of a factor changing his playing style. I think he just got tired of the guitar virtuoso stuff and shifted more to being a songwriter.
@@jtrocker9976 At the same time he became a heroin addict…coincidence.
Clapton is GOD
People are the most creative around the age of 23
He was great on drugs!
I remember even as a little kid watching this thinking that the camera work in this concert show was God awful lol
I think the sound is awful too. Almost like they've deliberately drenched it in reverb. Shocking really considering it was filmed by/for the BBC and this was the epitaph for Cream. Especially when you look/listen to other concert footage of a similar time frame. Not trolling, just voicing my long-standing frustration with the whole presentation as a fan of the band for nearly 45 years.
This is one of my favorite videos on RUclips. Thank you so much to whoever originally sourced these clips.
You said it. His playing was the best with Cream because it was the original and innovative guitar playing of his career.
Cream the best
Talk about the ultimate rock star - EC and Jimi.
I agree

I do not think I have ever sen Eric Clapton wiht out a beard and mustache or clean shaved. I never knew Eric Clapton shved his beard area and not his mustache.
