  • What if science and religion can peacefully coexist? Dr. Jeffrey Zweerink connects fascinating biblical points to modern day science to illustrate that Christianity and science can be allies.
Dr. Jeffrey Zweerink is an astrophysicist and research scholar for Reasons to Believe (RTB), a ministry devoted to narrow the gap between religion and science. Since early childhood, both religion and science have played a big role in Jeff's life - yet he was conflicted by the seemingly opposing natures of these two fields. It was Hugh Ross, founder of RTB, who introduced Jeff to this idea of aligning religion and science while Jeff was attending Iowa State University. Today, Jeff serves as the executive director of RTB's online learning program.

I think the number of views tells us a lot. If you dare present an idea that is outside the secular humanists tiny box - nobody is listening, even fewer are looking. Pretty sad. Competing ideas are GOOD for science!

I will say that this gave a clear, non-divisive explanation of where the adversity toward discussions of creationism in science and in discussions of science in creationism stems from, and how we can begin to overcome it. It's just a shame that very, very few people serious about science are looking at this.

*HISTORICAL FACT:* Scientific inquiry was given to us by the theists, NOT the atheists. And that for very good reason!
*THE DARWINIAN VIEW OF EVOLUTION IS RELIGIOUS:*
“Evolution is promoted by its practitioners as more than mere science. Evolution is promulgated as an ideology, a secular religion-a full-fledged alternative to Christianity, with meaning and morality. I am an ardent evolutionist and an ex-Christian, but I must admit that in this one complaint... the literalists are absolutely right. *EVOLUTION IS A RELIGION.* This was true of evolution in the beginning, and it is true of evolution still today.'
‘… Evolution therefore came into being as a kind of secular ideology, an explicit substitute for Christianity.”
-Michael Ruse, former professor of philosophy and zoology at the University of Guelph, emphasis added

There's nothing about evolution that's religious. Evolution doesn't involve supernatural forces or ultimate explanations hence it's not a religion.

Actually, literally EVERYTHING about the Neo-Darwinian view is religious, as it all depends upon faith. Clearly, you have no idea what "religion" is... (Consider the words of one Micheal Ruse.) 😉

@@jessebryant9233 I'm a Christian and I think your comments are silly. Calling evolution a religion is just complete silliness. Most mainstream denominations accept evolution and science generally.

You think my comments are silly? Okay, why is that? So you also believe that Micheal Ruse's (himself an ardent evolutionist and atheist) comments are silly? "Complete silliness"? How so? Can you define for me what you mean by "evolution"? And can you name one denomination (not a cult) that doesn't accept "science generally"? Perhaps you can answer these questions... or perhaps you were just being... silly?

In the Bible, God made the oceans and then made land.
Scientific evidence shows this is true. Geology might also help point to the global flood that is recorded in Scripture.
Science is a gift we can use to defend the gospel. However, just like almost anything, people misused it and are using science to find a different reason to believe on why we exist. Remember, we can use science for God’s glory. Through science, we can learn and we can understand how what God made operates together.

@MLP Pixel 727 I don´t believe in a God but I think Science and God can go hand in hand if there is one but at the same time i don´t think it will because many christians i meet all were against evolution which is part of Science....so....well, i think you know what i´m mean....
If there is a God, i think it´s possible that God kinda helped creating our solar system + the earth so evolution can do its thing. What´s your opinion about that? :-)

People back then (in biblical times) presumed the Earth was flat because that was all they knew at the time. So you may find references in scripture about the sky being a dome, or the world having corners. But this is the limited human bias occasionally sneaking its way into scripture as it sometimes does. We all know from our own scientific endeavors that the Earth is actually round, and that the sky is not a dome but a layer of atmosphere that exists across the entire surface.

The following is the confession extracted by the Church under duress from Galileo, for sparing his life from an act of heresy. Quote: I held and believed that the sun is the centre of the universe and is immovable, and that the earth is not the centre and is movable; willing, therefore, to remove from the minds of your Eminences, and of every Catholic Christian, this vehement suspicion rightfully entertained toward me, with a sincere heart and unfeigned faith, I abjure, curse, and detest the said errors and heresies, and generally every other error and sect contrary to Holy Church; and I swear that I will never more in future say or assert anything verbally, or in writing, which may give rise to a similar suspicion of me; but if I shall know any heretic, or anyone suspected of heresy, that I will denounce him to this Holy Office, or to the Inquisitor or Ordinary of the place where I may be; I swear, moreover, and promise, that I will fulfil and observe fully, all the penances which have been or shall be laid on me by this Holy Office. Unquote:
