Great video! One thing I think you didn't mention is that holding high profile and crouch lets you sprint while also disable any climbing/jumping/sliding moves. Very useful for interiors where you recommended to let go of high profile.

AC is a series that leans _heavily_ on player fantasy. The reason you would buy an Assassin’s Creed game used to be that you wanted to feel like an Assassin. I don’t think it’s any coincidence that so many people prefer to go for the flashy, badass approach to things over the simpler, more efficient approach.

@@bish0p3473 I’m of the same mind. I much prefer AC3’s parkour animation choreography over Unity’s for that exact reason; Connor’s movements are efficient and quick, but they still manage to be smooth and cinematic nonetheless.

Unity's fall damage is very forgiving, especially with certain boots and the recovery roll skill. If you get stuck midway down a wall with little or no furniture to catch yourself on, you can safely back eject as many as three stories to get down very, very quickly. Just make sure there aren't any enemies in your landing zone since you can't cancel out of this if you change your mind

Seeing this in 2021, I am still convinced that AC Unity is one of the most misunderstood AC games. This game not only brought a stealth mode, but also great parkour, movements, and assassination animations. Having played all AC games after Unity, Including Valhalla, I still believe this is the last true AC game. The new games are fun to play as standalone games, sure, but apart from the story they miss so much of that assassin's vibe that Unity had.

Hi Jcers, thank you for this. Playing all the AC games and at this very moment AC Unity. Love the game despite things I really miss, like picking up weapons, throwing knives, hide bodies, fist fights, etc, still many bugs, but I also miss the ‘old’ parkour. Now it doesn’t feel the same, it even feels like Arno is ‘flying’ instead of jumping. I also had trouble with the framerate (ps4). Thank you for the movement tips, it really helped with going down a building and the camera positioning. Thanks.

Ive been so frustrated with Arno because I have played through every single AC game on the ps4 (except Mirage) at this point, and he is the most difficult one to control. I thought I just sucked at stealth because I always get detected due to the janky controls, but it turns out I just didnt know how to use them correctly!!! I think the next creed game is going to return to this style of parkour and assassin mechanics. People complain about the series direction starting with Origins but they quickly forget how burnt out everybody was from every AC's that came before them. Enough time has passed now that a Unity style (polished) AC game would sell like hot cakes. I know i'd buy it no question.

This is super helpful. All in all, the parkour down thing rocks in my opinion. I wish they would just kick it back to the basics of the first few games. They worked so well, they relied on the player, and the player would learn as they went. It explained the moves and let you piece things together, instead of trying to run everything for you. The stuff about profile discipline is I think the most important. The most frustrating moments for me are when Arno is just hopping on and off barrels and walls and stuff when I'm not pushing him anywhere, but a release of the profile button tells him to knock it off.

I've been playing this game for years and i never knew you could roll over things like overturn carts.
Of Unitiy's system I will say this: It wasn't perfect but it was best, and second to last, parkour system we got. I say that because, after Syndicate, AC no longer used a parkour system but, instead, started using a basic climbing system that allows the player to climb on virtually anything and greatly dumbed down the system.

lets just say Unity was the last..
Syndicate has no manual jump cuz of the jump spamming reviewers and people alike did in this game...
With input buffering you can do some crazzy things I aint see alot of people do (in Unity ofcourse)
Syndicate has alot of buildings which you cannot even climb on you must grapple.. the whole grappling hook zipline thing ruined the point A to B parkour style.. cuz it was just a fckkng 1 button zipline...
In Origins I actually felt the rocks wete textured enough.. for it to be "realistic" but not as good as rock climbing in 3, but still better then those automated animations for yhe interiots in 3 ,4 and certain trees in Rogue..
They added vaulting back in Odyssey (in origins you could only vault in tombs) In valhalla the textures feel improved and less flat like hes grabbin on to sumthing.
(The forts were okay ish climable I like the ody frontflip)
but it will never be as immersive as Unity or heck even Ac1s parkour which is better then the ezio games. ( i like the lamps ezio swings on tho.) I do feel as tho 3-4-rogue, felt better then the ezio games but not the first one for some reason..
A fix for Unity's input delay is *buffer your inputs* and be very very carefull with your jumps..
the only thing that truly bugs me about Unity is that last seen feature 🤢..
*In my Opinion* unity has the best parkour .. and dont start about input delay.. work around it buffer sum inputs time the jumps... .. for me I never had an issue with the delay cuz I usually already know what im gonna do before im doing it.. :)
too bad your on pc otherwise idd show some pretty weird cancels... since this is my fav ac.. I ran around like a ffn madman inthis game..
      :)
      I do parkour irl
Ps. I also have to add that just like in WD2 horrible but yet fun parkour system camera/crossair placement plays a huge role in the animation you trigger.. like sum parts might seen unreachable but with the right camera angle you might just do a jump that seemed impossible before.. my point being this is the same case for all Ac games since Unity.. I hope this gives you sum weird info you might not have thought about before ;P Camera angles are key in Unity

Awesome video! Just started Unity for the first time about a week ago, and I am having an absolute BLAST! The parkour is amazing but surely takes some getting used to. This video is such a huge help. So when freerunning, instead of holding parkour up, you're saying to only press it based on the surroundings, and that makes it faster n more fluid? Got it. And so I'm guessing the same goes for parkour down, but more contextual. Thank you so much for making this video. Over half my playtime is just me messin around, and this video is gunna make that so much more fun.

I played ACU for the first time about 3 or 4 years ago, and originally hated it because I wanted to breeze through the story the way you could Black Flag or AC3. I didn’t understand the complexities in the progression system or the beauty of the parkour mechanics. I’m now on my 3rd playthrough of the game, simply because I love the story and love Arno as a character, but this playthrough has given me the chance to truly explore Paris in a way I never had before. This video is why Paris can truly feel like a playground to the player. I appreciate the amount of effort you took to explore these mechanics. It’s made the game infinitely more fun for me. Kudos.

Happy to help! That’s the cool thing about Assassin’s Creed games: they’re usually very accessible on a surface level, but allow for so much more mastery than is immediately obvious. Even AC3 or BF, which you can kind of breeze through, have room for so much more, which is something I’ve been exploring ever since I started making content for AC3. These games are pretty special.

parkouring to a certain direction (spin pull ups, side leaps) is more responsive when you don't use the camera. If you master the timing of button inputs, you don't even need to look where you are going to move in that direction. so instead of: high profile + off-angle up, for spin pull up, do: high profile + W+D (wd at the exact same time). For consistent side hops, do: high profile + space on wall and stop holding W+space once arno begins the animation for climbing and switch to A or D all while holding shift to side hop.
