- On September 1, 2023, WPSG switched from a CW affiliated to an independent station. Channel 57 had been affiliated with The CW since 2006.
Previously, it was operated by UPN from 1995 to 2006, independent from 1985-1995, PRISM from 1983 to 1985, SelecTV from 1981 to 1983 and Financial News Network from 1981 to 1983.
WPSG was previously named Philly57 when it was independent in 1985.

They're STILL using the time frame thing instead of "9PM", they go by "9P", still a holdover from their UPN57 days...
Nice to see a more in-depth take of both switchovers. I posted what I could use from my OTA DVR day of.

If I decided to take the ownership of CBS News and Stations, here’s how I would improve Philly57 (WPSG):
- You would see the return of the former station jingle, “So Philly, So You!”
- I predict that there’ll be new idents that would center around the daily lives of people living in Philadelphia.
- I would bring back either KYW NewsRadio This Morning or create a new local morning show (produced by KYW-TV).
- The 8:00 PM newscast would move back to 10:00 PM.
- With the newscast now being at 10:00 PM, I’d bring back the 8’O Clock Movie, every weeknight. You’ll see some of the best classic films along with broadcast premieres.
- I would bring back some of the classic shows that used to air on the station.
- Coverage of Phillies, Flyers and 76ers gamers would return to the station.
Even though I don’t live in Philadelphia, these suggestions would definitely help the station become better than it already is.
I can hear that jingle already: "Philly 57! So Philly, So YOU!"
Rehire Kim Martin as one of their announcers!

The Return of Philly 57 💚🤍🖤
Btw this was the last time that Philadelphia News Now at 10 aired on the former CW station WPSG
Right, and CBS3 is launching a new 8pm newscast on September 5.
in fact NOW (the newscast) stopped on ALL of the CW and MyNetwork TV affiliated stations that broadcast it so it only ran 13 months from July 2022-August 2023. CBS News Philadelphia at 8PM will launch on September 5th and will return to a fully local newscast instead of the local/national hybrid NOW was.
The new graphics that Philly 57 uses are similar to those of their sister station CBS3 aka CBS Philadelphia.
Also in a sense Judge Mathis's new show is technically moving one hour earlier than his original show "Judge Mathis" aired on Philly 57 until it was canceled after 24 seasons, the only differences being it is produced by a new company (Entertainment Studios which is owned by Byron Allen). Additionally, I believe Judge Marilyn Milian is getting a new show as well after "People's Court" was canceled after 26 years on the air and I will bet it will air either before or after Mathis.

Wait what? Why is a variant of the Nintendo Switch startup sound being played by all CBS owned independent stations that switched from The CW? This sound is very suitable for KSTW since it is the market of Nintendo’s American headquarters, but in the rest of the affected markets it does not appear to make sense.
Wait a minute...The CW is gone and now you switched it to Philly57? What is this and what are those circle design doing on Philly57 without under the CW? What a surprising part of the CBS eye I saw. First it was UPN 57 and then there was My 57 and then it was CW57 now that circle move found you were independently find Philly57 cause the CW is moving to another station. Did those graphic design see the shows we're seeing? What are these thing for Philly57 you had CBS Broadcasting doing?
