- Look down and see the beggars at your feet!
Look down and show some mercy if you can!
Look down and see the sweepings of the street!
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man!
'Ow do you do? My name's gavroche!
These are my people, here's my patch.
Not much to look at-- nothing posh!
Nothing that you'd call up to scratch.
This is my school,my high society!
Here in the slums of st Michel.
We live on crumbs of humble piety.
Tough on the teeth-but what the hell!
Think you're poor?
Think you're free?
Follow me! Follow me!
Look down and show some mercy if you can!
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man!
There was a time we killed the king.
We tried to change the world too fast.
Now we have got another king,
he is no better than the last.
This is the land that fought for liberty-
now when we fight we fight for bread!
Here is the thing about equality-
everyone's equal when they're dead.
Take your place!
Take your chance!
Vive la France! Vive la France!
Look down and show some mercy if you can!
Look down, look down, upon your fellow man!
when's it gonna end?
when we gonna live?
something's gotta happen now!
something's gotta give!
It'll come, it'll come, it'll come.
Where are the leaders of the land?
Where is the king who runs this show?
Only one man, general lamarque.
Speaks for the people here below!
Lamarque is ill and fading fast won't last a week out, so they say.
With all the anger in the land, how long before the judgment day?
Before we cut the fat ones down to size?
-death to the king!
-liberty for all!
“Everyone is equal when they’re dead” truer words were never spoken.
❤
One can never get tired of the contrast, a child's voice standing up to the rotten establishment and its 'dignitaries' with all his mind, body, and soul.
I ABSOLUTELY AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MUSICAL AND LIKE THE EVERY SONG OF IT
even the "i dreamed a dream?"
+efyuaR what's wrong with i dreamed a dream
Not a fan of most of the changes the movie made from the musical, but I do love Gavroche's new line:
"This is the land that fought for liberty
Now when we fight we fight for bread
Here is the thing about equality
Everyone's equal when their dead."
+DavidSSabb You know I think this addition may have worked because Claude-Michel, Boublil and Cameron the original heads (composers) behind the musical (I know Hugo wrote the book) were the same people behind the movie. I bet they didn't want to adulterate their baby even after 30-something years.
DavidSSabb I also loved the new words at the first song
Shame gavroche got sniped in the head
"everyone's equal when they're dead." Johan Liebert likes this
He even looks a bit like johan
1:22
“Hey dumb dumbs, this is a different revolution”
“This ain’t the one where we chopped off heads.”
Every so often you see something so magnificent, yet so simple, it inspires confidence in oneself.
This whole scene takes on a new level of hilariousness when you realize that these same people elected an Emperor to replace their King. They really had to have quite a few goes at this Revolution thing before it worked out.
These aren't the same people. This was the July revolution of 1830 (or 38, I forget). So at least Napoleon had come and gone already.
Edmond Burke was right in his Reflections of the French Revolution.
@@michaeldodd3563 the dear french have always been a tad to passionate.
Must be the wine.
@@pietervanandel1874 actually Napolean returns one more time after this time line. Napolean was a emperior but he wasn't a tyrant. And France actually loved Napolean . The only people that despised him were the coutries losing wars too him and was a a nucents to other countries cause he wanted to make France as big as Rome.
The people didn't elect Napoleon, he took power. Big difference.
Vive La France!
Vive La France!
Vive La France!
See this song exists and now whenever I feel the urge to be all sucky I just imagine Gavroche being disappointed at me and it works.
Best. Song. Ever. I listened to it like 10 times in a row :)
And little people know when little people fight. We may look easy pickings but we've got some bite! #Gavroche
The hope in this song kills me.
Thank you so much for putting the lyrics in the discription! I have been looking for them for ages!!!
The good old days when the French had British accents
This must take place in the same part of France where Moulin Rouge, Phantom of the Opera, and Beauty and the beast happen.
Hahaha, très witty!!!! 😂
Garvoche is this movie, also does the broadway
I was gavroche in the musical
Nice. I am
E eu era o livro do Enjolras
The fact that this sounds worse than basically every live recording of the song I've heard really says something.
Thought about this today amidst the whole COVID-19 thing.
"When's it gonna end? When we gonna live? Something's gotta happen now, something's gotta give."
Cringe
My favourite character in les miserable is gavroche
wait, so this boy is different from the scene Javert's Arrival? I saw there's two boys play Gavroche
Gavroche my child
Viva La Revolution........
Edmond Burke was right. Those who seek equity never get it.
Because they dont seek equity, they just want to be the next ones looking down
Viva la France Viva la Liberte
1:59 that's me bro
Who?
Aaaaaaaaron oh my gooooooooood
I think look down is my least favorite song of the musical. But for some reason I love the song when the kid sings his line
every rapper without auto tune be like
Literally just the French rev lol
Hello fellow classmates
Your from theology class too?
I love 1:42❤❤❤
Vive la Hong Kong!
Just serve the empire anakin...revolutions are not really your thing.
Who are you talking about? None of the actors to play anakin are in this.
@@flamesofhellstudio idk but now I’m picturing Ewan McGreggor yelling “YOU WERE THE CHOSEN ONE” at Javert
@@foxja1 Lmao
C'mon bois!!!

Everyone has an opinion

@@its_saber1525 yeah... there was never a concrete answer to ‘what is the worst movie musical?’ Until that happened...
You need to see more musicals then.
