- I bet you didn't know that the SNES Classic Edition is actually compatible with Wii games (if you did, I'm impressed).
The SNES Classic Edition came out after the Nintendo Switch, and it still supports the Wii Remote. This video is more of a review of the controller's Wii compatibility than anything else.
#wii #snes #nintendo
I think it was more meant for the Wii U since the Switch had just come out and they were still selling games for Wii U as well as the Wii U virtual console being still up
I'm not sure why that never occurred to me.
It works with Rayman Origins since it uses the D-Pad too
Awesome!
i tried it on a wii immediately after i noticed the connector is the same as the nunchuck
Same
Used to have a snes mini (I sold it for some reason, I don't remember why). When I noticed the simmilarities in the ports, I decided to see what would happen if I connected a Nunchuck into it. Iirc, it worked but only on the menus.
It should’ve worked for any games that support the Wii classic controller.
Is it worth it? Yes! Will I buy it? No.
That's probably a smart choice.
This was a pretty pleasant video
Thank you!
@@NintendoStuff3d no problem!
I have the EU version with its box. Fortunately, it looks like the JP Super Famicom one instead of the NA version.
Definitely looks nicer with each button in a different color.
@@NintendoStuff3d The only thing I like about the NA one is the convex vs concave style buttons 🙃
i use this with dolphin virtual console to play snes games with a snes controller (havent found a way to do it outside of dolphin on pc sadly)
I can identify that "special cable" you pointed out when asking "why wasn't it proprietary" its micro-usb's usb3.0 varent.
And to answer why I think they used the wii extension port on the snes clasic. I want to bet that the internals of the clasics' controller is the same as the club Nintendo one. Why make a new production line shen you can re-use old ones
I didn't know what the cable was for, so now I'm slightly more knowledgeable. Also, you're probably right about the Wii port. Either way, I'm still grateful they ended up using it.
splendid
Indeed
0:50 I got it to work with the Klonoa remake, so this is false
To clarify, it works with any game that supports the classic controller; it just won’t work with games that the controller doesn’t have the correct buttons or analog sticks for.
i'm the 500th view lol
years before nes / snes classic nintendo released a super famicom controller for the wii wich was exclusive to club nintendo in japan.
