Do Switch games ever update to the cart itself, or all the update patches saved on the internal memory or SD Card?

For this reason I’ve stopped buying modern games

iirc Nintendo charges more for large capacity cartridges, so developers use the smallest capacity ones, fit what they can, and have the cartridge as DRM for the digital copies from the eShop. And I imagine they do this to say, "at least you get a cartridge", because when Overwatch was released physically on Switch, the box only came with a printed download code.

Games like NBA 2K and FC(FIFA) aren’t actually on the cartridge either. You have to install many GB of the game from the internet. It’s just as worse on the PS5. Games are usually not playable without an internet connection or massive downloads.

Well, its the same with ps5 and xbox series games. Either all the games are partially or not on the disc. Its been this way for a long time now. Since the previous gen. So its no surprise nintendo is doing it also.

This is not only a Switch issue. All PS5 discs are basically blank and just act as keys to allow you to download and play the game.

It's clear as day the games industry wants to go all digital. WHEN that happens, we consumers ought to be fighting for DRM-FREE digital. DRM-FREE allows *ownership* of one's purchases via offline backups E.G. GOG.

You forgot ATTACK ON TITAN 2 FINAL BATTLE which is like MK!! It has AOT2 on the cartridge but you cannot play it without the FINAL BATTLE update data.

I think Nintendo just doesn’t make carts that are big enough .. vita had a similar problem where despite it just being a fancy emmc (like the switch) it’s still only went as high as 4gb for some reason

Yeah I hate that and I avoid those games for this very reason. It is even more absurd when you see the Megaman collections in there. Also, just wait until you hear of those "physical" games which only have codes inside the box.

Funny enough several of the games you listed are legit physical on the Asian side. So if you buy any of those titles, they are on the cartridge itself. Seek out the Asian titles as they are multi-language. Why didn't they do this in the west is beyond me.

Obviously people are playing NES games, they just released NES championships. I agree you should be able to buy them individually but NSO is a great way to explore retro gaming. Try Ninja Gaiden then do another video.

Another reason why Nintendo going handheld is a bad idea. If they could use optical discs, it would be much cheaper.

The content in this video, is exactly why I have such an issue with any systems, and the games themesleves, made after the 360, PS3, snd Wii eras. Once the servers go down, there will be no game preservation, or even being able to enjoy an older game anymrore. Also, the used Market will cease to exist, and everything made after tthat era that I previously mentioned, will all be useless, except for collectors. Kinda ridiculous that these Companies can continue to charge full price for a game, that isn't even complete.

Brilliant diamond and shining pearl only had half the game on the cartridge just so they could cheap out with a 4gb cartridge and add the rest in with a day 1 patch.

Why would you ever want to buy for your virtual console games if you just going to bring up emulation, is kind of stupid right? Like you said you can emulate the games on the phone anyways so who cares, also is getting easier to get into emulation in the first place so buying anything is completely pointless, and your a sucker for buying any virtual console games at all in the first place

Couple things to note about the listed games in the video:- 1. Bioshock collection doesn't come with a download code, but you do need internet to download act 2 - final act for all 3 games. 2. For the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remake, only the Asia/Japan region version contains all of the content that was advertised on the box while other regions only contains FFX on the cartridge and a download code for FFX-2

Still better than PS Plus in 2 ways because Nintendo membership is $60 cheaper PS Plus, and the free games are available anytime unlike PS Plus you need the membership at the same time if you want the game which after the deadline you can't get it anymore after that.

One thing I hate about it is that instead being able buy and own classic games on the switch aka virtual consol, they are locked behind the subscription.

I only have Switch Online so I can upload replays and custom stages in Smash Ultimate… And that’s it… I don’t play any of the legacy content through it… I pretty much got myself covered with a real-deal N64 and Wii U and 3DS VC. For a long time since 2017, I was hoping Nintendo would make one more mini system, and said system being the N64 Mini. Just one more and that would have been a done deal… But nope! That never happened. Nintendo wasted a golden opportunity and opted for poor emulation in NSO Expansion Pack. The sales numbers of the Switch hardware REALLY got into their heads and still affecting them today… Nintendo needs another Wii U… not in terms of a commercial disaster, but in terms of a system selling worse than its predecessor… but enough for everyone to enjoy having all the content.

There should be a limit on what they can fit on the cartridge. SD cards. Can hold SOO much and are even smaller. I think they could make it work if they wanted to.

It seems like some people feel they're justified in pirating whatever they want but it's ridiculous things like this that make me sympathize somewhat. At this point my morals are like this: If I purchase a game once, I own it. I will never feel guilty about downloading the game on another platform or when a upscaled version is released for the next gen of consoles. Remakes are different, but it leaves a real bad taste in my mouth when they want to charge as much as the original.

Luckily that list are games I either already have on PlayStation (main console) or wouldn't buy on Switch anyways as I got my Switch to play the games I CAN'T play on PS (I'm a trophy hunter, so I'd rather play them on PS if I can help it). But it's crazy how the industry gets away with this shit. Only thing worse is buying a physical copy, opening the case and finding there's no cart in it, just a download code.

Imagine buying a PS6 game just because the Switch has it
