I got my Pro Controller in 2018 with my copy of Smash. It’s been quite used and a bit abused (I had to replace the stick caps after I tried pulling it out when it got wedged between the bed and the wall) but it’s still going strong. One of the best parts is how easy the battery is to replace, it’s like six screws and it takes a 3DS battery.
I got my switch a few months after initial launch, and I only recently got a pro controller, and I've been loving it for replaying switch games I got but never finished, I hope its used for the next system because I love its design so much and regret not getting one sooner lol
I hope if there is new pro controller it has the same design but just fixes a few bad things with the switch pro controller. Like the Dpad. And zl zr are a bit difficult to keep pressed)

I use my controller all the time. It's definitely worth it, and it's also cool that the battery is so repairable.

I pretty much have the same story!

*not me who already bought a pro controller this year*
