    Just reached the end of the video and realized I didn't hear anything about the "impending FX3 mk2" :)) you fooled me

      LOL! Sorry about that, it wasn't my intention but it seems a few people thought that too. I was more so thinking to myself what I wanted to do when it does come out, whenever that day comes. But hey, thanks for making it to the end :)

    I'd like to see them put open gate in the next generation (not likely but wishful thinking) and hopefully they'd switch to type B cards like the burano .... that would be greatly appreciated.

      @@JoeyNguyen-mo6xc Interesting take! Thanks for sharing! I hadn't considered the media card perspective. The only downside of that is that most computers don't have a native card reader for those. So you'd always need a card reader, pros and cons of everything!

    So wait... did you switch to the fx3 from the C70??? That's what I want to do!

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  2 месяца назад +1

      I did! Good eye :) The biggest difference for me between the two has been the built in WiFi that allows the use of remote apps. I regularly use the remote functions of the FX3 and the C70 really lacks in that area. Still an awesome camera though! And battery life for days!
      Thanks for checking out the vid!

      I've used the C70 for 5 times, and the FX3 three times. C70 has a great image, but suffers in low light, and to me it seemed like the internal NDs, even though being great, For either too much or not enough since they go into stop increments, and I'd often have to stop down my lens which is not what I wanted to do. I'd rather buy an external ND with a magnetic system and have to carry it around with me. The C70 also can't be rigged out in a small form factor that's not super heavy. The LCD screen is unmatched on the C70, but that's about it.

      @@TroyMairs Cool. As you talked about in the video I too really want to change my approach for video work moving forward. While some gear is essential and necessary, I really want to focus less on worrying about the camera and more about making a good product. The biggest reason for me wanting to switch is I've always wanted to shoot full frame and really I'm just so done with my C70. It's a camera that I consistently have to baby and I'm worried that at any moment I will break the monitor again. It was a great camera to learn on, but more and more of the companies that I freelance for are already in the Sony ecosystem and it just makes sense for me to integrate. One of the things I'm most worried about switching is when it comes to the ND filters. I rely so much on the built-in ND's of the C70. I thought long and hard about maybe getting the fx6, but that would really defeat the purpose of me wanting to scale back my approach to videography. What was your feelings on not having ND filters? I see that in your gear list you have listed the Polar Pro Helix NDs system which looks dope, but how is the color shift? I'm all but ready to pull the trigger on getting an fx3, I'm just waiting on my C70 to return from Canon Pro Services and the Shutter Angle firmware update to come out.

      @TroyMairs  2 месяца назад +1

      @@ty-k6708 I definitely understand the sentiment! I went through the exact same decision making process myself, and the ND situation was a real tough one. When I got the C70 I swore I'd never use a camera without em😂 (we see how that played out)
      The Helix system has REALLY made that about as painless as possible. I don't find them to be a nuisance at all, from the physical application to the effect they have on the image, it is as close to having internal NDs as you can get:)
      I outfit all of my lenses with the helix baseplate, and then use a helix lens cap when not in use👍

    i want internal nd filters in new fx3

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  Месяц назад +1

      Would you rather see ND’s or IBIS? I know the Burano has both, but that likely requires a larger body to accommodate it. So just out of curiosity, would you prefer one over the other in a hypothetical?

    • @RonWilliams215
      @RonWilliams215 Месяц назад +1

      @@TroyMairs good point/question, i suppose IBIS, unless they can stabilize footage with internal software (similar to gopro), then include NDs inbody.

    • @TroyMairs
      @TroyMairs  Месяц назад +1

      @@RonWilliams215 I was just thinking the same thing after posing that question. The gyrodata stabilizes footage really well in Catalyst Prepare, but the workflow is a bit cumbersome. If I could use gyro data for stabilizing in Resolve, then Id pick the internal NDs over IBIS as well:)

    • @WalkrFilms
      @WalkrFilms Месяц назад

      @@TroyMairsIBIS all the way. The stabilization is already very good but imagine if it was even better? As long as they don’t have a cheap warp gimmick like Canons. NDs will change the form factor and drive up cost. I don’t know how people don’t realize this. Like just buy an FX6 if you want internal NDs. You won’t get that for the price of an FX3. I would like to see global shutter and the ability to shoot in different aspect ratios, maybe 3 native ISOs? The difference between 800 vs 12,800 is pretty big. They could add the FX30s native iso of 2500 as a nice middle ground in between them.

      @@BRobin2023 I can't make this any clearer. This camera isn't being replaced in 2024. There is still a forthcoming firmware update on the way in September for it. Whereas the FX9 hasn't had a firmware up date in over 18 months and its the oldest of the FX series. But keep talking. Sometimes cameras have sales.
